Mary Amanda Bell
Mary Amanda Bell, 83, of Rogers, Ark., died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, in Fayetteville, Ark.
She was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Carrollton, Mo., to George Washington Gregory and Pearl Amanda Cochran Gregory.
She was the administrative assistant to the chief of staff at the Air Force base hospital in Minot, N.D. She enjoyed reading history, was knowledgeable about the Civil War and a lifelong Democrat.
She marriage Donald Eugene Bell on July 2, 1948, in Carrollton.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Eugene Bell; a son, Bruce Gregory Bell; four daughters, Jane Ann Bell, Catherine Diane Bell, Donna Jean Schmutzler and Deborah Susan Andler; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 at Oak Hill Cemetery near Siloam Springs, Ark., with Terry Warren. Arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.
Lois Anne Morgan
Lois Anne Morgan, 94, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Innisfree Care Center in Rogers. She was born March 25, 1911, in Whiting, Kan., to Ora Daniel and Naomi Norman Fees.
She marriage Bert N. Morgan on Dec. 24, 1933, in Plains, Kan. They became residents of this area in 1973.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Bert N. Morgan.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Tad Morgan and Joanne Morgan of Springdale, Ark., and Noel Fees Morgan and Glenda Morgan of McKinney, Texas; a sister, Naomi Melton of Emporia, Kan.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a private family service held at a later date. Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Rogers.
Memorials may be made to the first United Methodist Church, 307 W. Elm, Rogers, AR 72756.
George Evan Porter Jr.
George Evan Porter Jr., 74, of Colcord, Okla., died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale, Ark. He was born March 3, 1931, in Sharon Springs, Kan., to George Evan Porter Sr. and Lillie May Whitney Porter.
He marriage Florence Scoles on Oct. 8, 1960, in Saco, Mont. He was a retired dairy farmer and a member of the Colcord Assembly of God. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Draper Community Building in Colcord with Timothy Porter. Burial was at Rowe Cemetery near Colcord under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
Memorials may be made to the Colcord Assembly of God missions fund.
Roger E. Venters
Roger E. Venters, 81, of Rogers, Ark., died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at a local nursing home. He was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Welsford, Kan., to Clair Martin Venters and Beatrice Munch Venters.
He attended Vaughn High School, was baptized at Mason Valley Baptist Church and was a foreman with Fiberglass Installation.
He was in the United States Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
In 1985, he moved from Chula Vista, Calif., to northwest Arkansas. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Venters; a son, Roger Lee Venters; a sister and two brothers.
Survivors include three sisters, Elizabeth Harris of Vaughn, Ark., Julia Bequette of Centerton, Ark., and Marjorie Patrick of Centerton.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers with Lynn Brown. Arrangements were by Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers. Full military honors will be provided by the Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard in Rogers.
Audrey Mae Hurt Wooten
Audrey Mae Hurt Wooten, 82, of Colcord, Okla., died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark. She was born July 7, 1923, in Cherokee City, Ark., to Payton "Doc" Hurt and Grace Kelley Hurt.
She marriage John B. Wooten, Sr. in Bentonville, Ark.
She was a homemaker and provided home care for the elderly. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wooten; a son, Calvin Wooten; three brothers, Troy Hurt, Barney Hurt, and Junior Hurt; and two infant siblings.
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Harl Wooten and Linda Wooten of Southwest City, Mo., John B. Wooten Jr. and Glanas Wooten, Sherrel Wooten and Kaye Wooten, Kevin "Bub" Wooten and Belle Wooten, and Roger Wooten and Jennifer Wooten, all of Colcord, Okla.; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Mavis Cochran and Johnny Cochran of Rapid City, S.D., Melva Scraper and Thomas Scraper, and Karen Wooten, all of Colcord, Janice Sisk and Mitchell Sisk of Rogers, Ark., Marilyn Teel of Siloam Springs, Jonnetta Marquis and Kip Marquis of Vinita, Okla.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Roy Hurt and Jean Hurt, Glenn Hurt and Sue Hurt, and Marvin Hurt, all of Colcord; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara Jackson and Paul Jackson of Tulsa, Okla., and Joyce Hurt of Colcord; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 29, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, with Brother Wilkes Harper and Pastor John Key. Burial was at the Dickson Cemetery near Cherokee City, Ark. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
