Dorothy Wishon
Dorothy Wishon, 69, of Seligman, Mo., died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, Ark. She was born Dec. 19, 1936, in Wyandotte, Okla., to Charlie McDonald and Annie Mae Davis McDonald.
She retired from Emerson Electric Co. She was a member of the New Hope Assembly of God in Rogers. She enjoyed reading, fishing and caring for her rose garden.
Survivors include her husband, J. W. Wishon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky Wishon and Greta Wishon of Seligman and Darrell Wishon and Velda Wishon of Little Flock, Ark.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Catherine Underdown and David Underdown of Green Forest, Ark., and Janice Fair and Jay Fair, Judy Eastep, and Shirley Chandler and Jerry Chandler, all of Seligman; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, June 9, at the Bayless Cemetery near Gateway, Ark., with the Rev. Gary Griffin. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Wishon, Shannon Wishon, Jason Fieds, Davey Baker, Chris Baker and Gary Underdown.
Steve Robert Zehnder
Steve Robert Zehnder, 54, of Bentonville, Ark., died June 10, 2006, in Bentonville. He was born Feb. 27, 1952, in Burbank, Calif., to Leo Chester and Anne Bruner Zehnder.
He owned and operated Zehnder Custom Woodworking. He enjoyed woodworking, boating and being out in nature.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Zehnder of the home; his children, Jayme Zehnder and fiancée Michael Shaver of Centerton, April Zehnder and fiancée Davey Berkshire of Bentonville; his mother, Anne Zehnder of Rogers; bothers and sisters, Laurie Kester of Rogers, Jane and Perry Delanty of Surprise Ariz., Dave Halverson of Lancaster, Calif., Debi and Gary Paysinger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his mother-in-law, Elayne Halverson of Bentonville; his grandchildren, Madison, Ashton, Braydon, Mason and Dalton; and four nieces and four nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Benton County Funeral Home.

Edward J. Anderson, 29, of Anderson, Mo., died March 14, 2006, in Neosho, Mo., following an accident. He was born Feb. 10, 1977, in Nurnberg, Germany. He moved to the area in 1994 from Tacoma, Wash. He marriage Amanda Adams on June 16, 1996, in Goodman, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a forklift operator at Sunbeam in Neosho. Gilbert ‘Gil’ L. Arnold
Gilbert "Gil" L. Arnold, 76, of Bella Vista, Ark., died March 7, 2006, at the Earlene Howard Hospice Home in Springdale, Ark. He was born Nov. 22, 1929, in Viola, Mo., to Robert Lee Arnold and Janie Irene Wallace Arnold. He was raised in Wyandotte, Okla. He attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater and received a master’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict at Fort Chaffee, Ark. He marriage Geneva Allred on Aug. 28, 1954, in Fort Smith, Ark. He taught vocational agriculture for eight years in Riverton, Kan. He worked for Olin Chemical and retired from Mobil Chemical in 1987 in sales management He moved to Bella Vista in April 1987 from Houston, Texas. Vaden Kramer Hill
Vaden Kramer Hill, 89, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 25, 2006, at Highland Health Care in Bella Vista. She was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Laona, Wis., to Frederick Freeman and Catherine Kramer Freeman. She was active in The First Congregational Church, as well as many civic and fraternal organizations in Oshkosh, Wis. Upon moving to Bella Vista in 1977, she organized numerous bridge clubs, some which still exist today. She was the first president of the Bella Vista Wisconsin Club and was a member of the Bella Vista Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Victor Hill; a son, Jeffrey Hill of Kansas City, Mo.; and a grandson, Hunter Hill. No services were planned. Barbara Benson Alcaraz, 71, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 23, 2006, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, Ark. She was born Jan. 1, 1935, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to True Burkeman and Mildred Burkeman. She was an actress, a vocalist and an ordained minister. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Benson Gunnell. Survivors include her husband, John Alcaraz; three sons, Greg Benson of Kingwood, Texas, Steve Benson of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Paul Benson of California; two daughters, Janis Richter of Bothell, Wash., and Lisa Ray of Siloam Springs, Ark., formerly of Bentonville, Ark.; a sister, Marion Rich of California; and 12 grandchildren. Lillian Dueker, 104, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 17, 2006, at Highland Health Care in Bella Vista. She was born June 18, 1901, in St. Louis County, Mo., to Adolph Jilg and Anna Jilg. She moved to Bella Vista in November 1991 from Fort Dodge, Iowa. She as a member of the Bella Vista Lutheran Church. She was active in Lutheran churches, having taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir. Edwin E. Breaux
Edwin E. Breaux, 71, of Rogers, Ark., died Feb. 10, 2006, at his home after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 11, 1934, in Abilene, Texas, to Frank Breaux and Gladys Lewis Breaux. For 36 years he traveled border to border in Texas as a marketing representative for an insurance company and as an instructor of continuing-education classes for the state insurance association. Following his retirement he had worked with Aspire Gymnastics and Dance facility, owned by his daughters. Linda Andrews
Linda Andrews, 61, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 1, 2006, at her home. She was born Aug. 21, 1944, in Palo Alto, Calif., to Berford Fisher and Juanita Wyatt Fisher. She was employed by the Arkansas Support Network in Bentonville, Ark., for 11 years. Survivors include a son, Cecil D. Massey of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Vicki L. Narx of Little Rock, Ark., and Debbie Scott of Tennessee; two brothers, David W. Fisher of Arkansas and Randy L. Fisher of Tennessee; four sisters, Diane Miller of Pennsylvania and Bobbi Cradduck, Darleen Ocon and Teresa Ford, all of Arkansas; and three grandchildren, Christopher Narx, Christina Narx and Alexandra Scott. Edith Damron
Edith Damron, 94, of Gladstone, Mo., died Jan. 24, 2006, at her home. She was born Nov. 29, 1911, in Lawrence County, Mo., to Virgil Weaver and Jessie Chapman Weaver. She retired from Katz Drug Store, where she was a sales clerk, working in both Missouri and Kansas. She was a Baptist and an honorary member of the Red Hat Society, receiving a Purple Hat. She was preceded in death by her husband, Audie Damron, in 1980; three sons, Richard Damron, Don Damron and William J. Damron; two brothers, Loren Weaver and Charlie Weaver; and a sister, Opal Misner.
Survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Loretta Bethel of Fresno, Calif., Barbara Reese and Fred Reese of Bella Vista, Ark., Patricia Barker of Eudora, Kan., and Audrey Matney of Gladstone; 30 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at the Sisco Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Glenn Matney.
Burial was at the Bentonville Cemetery in Bentonville, Ark.

Emil Kubec
Emil Kubec, 96, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 21, 2006, at Highlands Health Care in Bella Vista. He was born Oct. 20, 1909, in Omaha, Neb., to Frank Kubec and Susie Oslascy Kubec. He was raised and educated in Omaha. He was a foreman in shipbuilding in Long Beach, Calif., during World War II. He marriage Elane Ernisse on Aug. 14, 1935, in Glenwood, Iowa. The couple traveled extensively throughout the world, including trips to China, India, Egypt, Europe and South America. They moved to Bella Vista in 1983 from California.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Kleefman.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Elane Kubec; three nephews, Jerry G. Hodgdon of Las Vegas, and Terry Ernisse and Jerry Ernisse, both of Lincoln, Neb.; and three nieces, Judy Ernisse of Albuquerque, N. M., Deborah Ann Foreman of Simi, Calif., and Linda Diane Jackson of Las Vegas.
Funeral services took place Jan. 25 at Bella Vista Community Church with the Rev. Richard Lindman. Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
Joseph Butler Lankford
Joseph Butler Lankford, 81, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 22, 2006, at Tucson Heart Hospital in Tucson, Ariz. He was born June 3, 1924, in Lynchburg, Va., to Albert P. Lankford and Josie B. Lankford.
He graduated from E. C. Glass High School in Lynchburg in 1942 and received a bachelor of science degree in engineering in 1949 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was employed as a plant manager for Craddock-Terry Shoe Corp. in Lynchburg for two years, then with Heverle and Hay consultants in Philadelphia, Pa., earning a registered professional-engineer license. Shortly after joining Heverle and Hay, he was called to active military duty for the Korean conflict.
He was then employed as an engineer with Reynolds Metals Co. in Phoenix, Ariz., and Richmond, Va., for nine years; as sales engineer for Inta-Roto-Machine Co. in Richmond for four years; as sales manager for Paper Converting Machine Co. in Green Bay, Wis., for seven years; and as sales manager for FMC Corp. in Green Bay for three years. In 1976, he formed his own company, Lankford Converting Equipment Corp., from which he retired in 1992.
He served three years as an artillery sergeant in Europe during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart and four Battle Stars for participation in four major campaigns: the Battle of Britain, the Normandy Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Rhineland. When called to active duty for the Korean conflict, he was commissioned a lieutenant and served as company commander of a tank company. After release from active duty, he spent a number of years in the Virginia and Wisconsin National Guards, retiring in 1976 as a colonel.
He was a member of Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church. He served as chairman or director of numerous civic, professional and military organizations. He was president of the National Railroad Museum and the Reserve Officers Association, both in Green Bay; a member of the Board of Directors of the Green Bay Rotary Club; chairman of the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association; president of the Retired Officers Association in Bella Vista; and a member of the board of directors of the Bentonville/Bella Vista Rotary Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Theda Joyce Lankford; and a brother, John Wyatt Lankford.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Kinnisten of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three sons, and two daughters-in-law, Robert Steven Lankford and Debbie Lankford, and Albert P. Lankford II and Barbara Lankford, all of Green Bay, Wis., and Joseph B. Lankford Jr. of Sierra Vista; five grandchildren, Jennifer Fortin, Jesse Lankford, Chris Lankford, Rachel Turner and Lindsey Lankford; and three great-grandchildren, Joey Gahan, Carter Lankford and Riley Lankford.
Funeral services were held Jan. 27 at Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Vista.

Jacqueline Shubert McClaskey
Jacqueline Shubert McClaskey, 80, of Covington, Ky., formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., died Nov. 21, 2005. She was born Feb. 27, 1925. She was a resident of Bella Vista for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Leslie C. McClaskey; a son, Paul McClaskey; a daughter, Jacqueline Anne McClaskey; a brother, Charles Hudson Schubert III; and five grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista.

Jane L. Grady
Jane L. Grady, 73, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 9, 2006, after a struggle with cancer. She was born Jan. 21, 1932, in Long Island, N. Y. She graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of science degree in education. She taught in elementary schools in Michigan and Illinois. She was instrumental in the implementation of the first Title VII educational programs for disadvantaged children in the mid- ’ 70s. She was also very active in the Girl Scouts and was director of children’s education at Holy Family Episcopal Church in Park Forest, Ill.
She and her husband moved to Bella Vista in 1988. She was a leader in many charitable, social and religious organizations in the area. She worked with Seniors Assisting Seniors, was historian and a member of the Bella Vista Ladies Golf League and directed churchschool programs at St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Grady; and a son, Phillip Grady. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steve Grady and Jodie Grady of Chanhassen, Minn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice Blake and Michael Blake of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; a sister, Carol Englander; and five grandchildren, Caitlin, Bryan, Jamie, Julie and Jaclyn. A celebration of life was held Jan. 11 at St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista. A private burial was held at the St. Theodore’s Columbarium. Juanice ‘Wendy’ Hatcher
Juanice "Wendy" Hatcher, 78, of Bedford, Texas, formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 10, 2006. She was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Houston, Texas, to James Winborn and Lena Winborn. She marriage Leslie "Buddy" Hatcher in 1952 in Houston, where the couple both worked at the Shell Oil Refinery. After five years in Houston, they started working for Exxon, a career that took the family to four countries over a period of 32 years. She and her husband retired in 1986 and moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where she was active in the Bella Vista Community Church and the Bella Vista television station. She was an avid golfer, bowler and bridge player. In December 2002, the couple moved to Bedford to be closer to family. Survivors include her husband, Leslie "Buddy" Hatcher; three children, David Ritch Hatcher, Hollace Curtis and Alexander Hatcher; two sisters, Ethel Mae "Tex" Knowland and Irene Miller; and six grandchildren, Monica, Tim, Tony, Daniel, Megan and Colin. A memorial service was held Jan. 16 at the Bluebonnet Hills Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. Arrangements were by Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home of Colleyville.
