LaDonna ‘Donna’ Elaine Kovara

LaDonna "Donna" Elaine Kovara, 63, of Rogers, Ark., died Jan. 2, 2006, at her home. She was born Oct. 22, 1942, in Tulsa, Okla., to Buster Murdock and Maud Holliman Murdock.

She had lived in northwest Arkansas for 21 years, moving from Harrison, Ark. She marriage Ronald "Ron" Kovara on Aug. 10, 1991, in Bella Vista. She was employed by Stage in Rogers for more than 18 years. She enjoyed camping and vegetable gardening.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dallas Card; a son, Eric Kovara; and her father, Buster Murdock. Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Ronald "Ron" Kovara; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger Jackson of Clarksville, Ark., and Mark Kovara and Penny Kovara of Mesa, Ariz.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Angie Anderson of Garfield, Ark., Denise Jackson of Rockaway Beach, Mo., and Christine "Chris" Vettore and Louie Vettore of Chandler, Ariz.; her mother, Maud Murdock of Rogers; a brother and sister-in-law, David Murdock and Wanda Murdock of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances Woodward and Jay Woodward of Garfield; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harvey Kovara and Margaret Kovara of Bentonville, Ark.; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 9 at Stockdale Funeral Services with Pastor Donnie Garner. Graveside services were held Jan. 10 at the Rock Creek Cemetery in Rock Creek, Ark., with Pastor Donnie Garner. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road N. E., Atlanta, GA 30329; or to St. Mary’s Hospice, 1001 W. Walnut St., Rogers, AR 72756.

Stephen Lovato

Stephen Leonard Lovato, 45, of Bentonville, Ark., died Jan. 2, 2006, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville. He was born Dec. 23, 1960, in Albuquerque, N. M., to George Lovato and Hortensia Fuentes Lovato.

He attended Guymon schools in Guymon, Okla. He marriage Cherry McMillan on Feb. 19, 1988, in Garden City, Kan. He had been working as a plumbing/heating/air-conditioning specialist in Garden City and Bentonville. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Bentonville and had been a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Guymon. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodcrafting and gardening. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Cherry Lovato; his mother, Hortensia Garcia of Ulysses, Kan.; his father, George Lovato of Dodge City, Kan.; a sister, Gina Lovato of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Andrew Lovato of Guymon, Okla., and G. Levens Lovato of Bella Vista, Ark.; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy McMillan and Wayne McMillan of Garden City, Kan. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Jan. 6 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Bill Pruitt. Burial was at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Arrangements were by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.

Alfred ‘Al’ George Quade

Alfred "Al" George Quade, 78, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 3, 2006, at Highlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bella Vista. He was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Blue Island, Ill., to Alfred Peter Quade and Henrietta Wessel Quade.

He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, where he was a varsity tennis player. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. He received a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics and a bachelor of science degree in computer science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He worked his way through school by painting boxcars for the Blue Island Railroad. He worked as an actuary for the A. C. Nelson Co.

He marriage Sarah Jane "Sally" Sapper in 1958. He worked for the Pure Oil Co., later Union Oil, in Chicago in the Economics and Planning Department. He received a master of arts degree in business administration from the University of Chicago, then moved to Atlanta, where he automated the first trans-state oil pipeline for the Colonial Pipeline Co. He also built safety-control systems for the American Honda Motorcycle Division and was later a computer consultant for Hewitt Associates of Northern Illinois. He was treasurer for a Cub Scout troop in Rolling Meadows, Ill.

He and his wife lived in Milwaukee for 22 years before moving to Bella Vista in 1994. They were volunteers for the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, Ark., for 10 years. He was a Unitarian. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Jane "Sally" Quade; two sons, Charles Alfred of Madison, Wis., and Jeffrey Earl of Saukville, Wis.; and a grandson, Alex. Visitation was Jan. 9 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home. No other services are planned. David Leon Roach David Leon Roach, 62, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 6, 2006, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Feb. 2, 1943, in Monett, Mo., to Jerry Roach and Fern Morris Roach. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was preceded in death by three brothers, George Roach, Jerry Roach and Randy Roach. Survivors include one son, Paul Roach of Bella Vista, Ark.; one daughter, Carol Roach of Springdale, Ark.; four brothers, Bill Roach of Jane, Mo., Steve Roach and Ed Roach, both of Marrow, Ark., and Bobby Roach of Lincoln, Ark.; three sisters, Pauline Bumgardner of Lincoln, Ark., Janice Gentry and Nancy Austin, both of Monett, Mo.; and three grandchildren. A graveside funeral service was held Jan. 10 at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale.

Helen Alice Spear

Helen Alice Spear, 89, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Dec. 30, 2005, at her home. She was born Oct. 9, 1916, in Hiwasse, Ark., to Earnest Holloway and Virgie Matthews Holloway. She was a longtime resident of the Hiwasse and Bentonville, Ark., area. She was a member of the Hiwasse Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include her husband, Roy "Sam" Spear; four sons, Dwight Spear, David Spear, Dick Spear and Duane Spear; three brothers, Charles, Roland and Robert, all of Meridian, Idaho; a sister, Laureen Stephens of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 2 at the Hiwasse Church of the Nazarene in Hiwasse, Ark., with Minister Roxton Spear. Burial was at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Hiwasse. Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.

Shirley Weber Turek

Shirley Cressida Weber Turek, 86, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, died Jan. 1, 2006 at Fountain View Village, Fountain Hills.
She was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., to Bernard F. Weber, Jr., and Vivian Smith Weber. She lived on the Near North Side of Chicago until she was in high school when her family moved to the suburb of Park Ridge. Shirley graduated from Maine Township High School (East), Park Ridge, and attended Wellesley College, Knox College, and Northwestern University. After college, she was employed as an executive assistant in Chicago.
She marriage Robert Joseph Turek of Faribault, Minn. in 1946. In 1947, they moved from Chicago to Park Ridge, where she was a mother and homemaker for 36 years.
In 1983, Shirley and Robert moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where they enjoyed a very happy retirement.
Shirley played golf, bridge, did beautiful needlepoint, and supported the Bentonville/Bella Vista Symphony Guild. In 2005, Shirley moved to Fountain Hills to be close to family.
Survivors include three children, Mary Neu, Racine, WI, Ann (Jack) Bertch, Scottsdale, AZ, and Robert J. (Lynn) Turek, Adrian, MI; one brother, Bernard F. (Joan) Weber, III, North Fort Myers, FL and Algonquin, IL; four grandchildren, Katy Bertch (Ryan) Page, Christopher Bertch, Ashley Turek, and Bradley Turek; one great grandchild, Jack Page; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by Robert, her husband of 57 years, in 2003.
There will be no visitation or services. Her ashes will be placed in the columbarium at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, Ark. Memorials may be sent to the Bella Vista Library, 11 Dickens Place, Bella Vista, AR 72714.

Linda Andrews

Linda Andrews, 61, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 1, 2006, at her home. She was born Aug. 21, 1944, in Palo Alto, Calif., to Berford Fisher and Juanita Wyatt Fisher. She was employed by the Arkansas Support Network in Bentonville, Ark., for 11 years. Survivors include a son, Cecil D. Massey of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Vicki L. Narx of Little Rock, Ark., and Debbie Scott of Tennessee; two brothers, David W. Fisher of Arkansas and Randy L. Fisher of Tennessee; four sisters, Diane Miller of Pennsylvania and Bobbi Cradduck, Darleen Ocon and Te resa Ford, all of Arkansas; and three grandchildren, Christopher Narx, Christina Narx and Alexandra Scott. A memorial service was held Feb. 3 at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel in Bentonville, Ark., with Keith Vire. Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Betty Benz Augspurger

Betty Benz Augspurger, 76, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 2, 2006, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, Ark. She was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Rex Benz and Madeline Aikins Benz. She moved to Bella Vista 16 years ago from Knoxville, Iowa. She was active with the Village Players and was a volunteer at the Bella Vista Library.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Roger Augspurger, M. D.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terrence Lee Augspurger and Cynthia Augspurger of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Steven Craig Augspurger of Knoxville, Iowa; a brother, Robert Benz of Oakland, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Anderson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and five grandchildren.

No services were planned.

Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Library, 11 Dickens Place, Bella Vista, AR 72714.

Janice Lorraine Boop

Janice Lorraine Boop, 83, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 29, 2006, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark. She was born July 24, 1922, in Richardson County, Neb., to Joseph Neil Albin and Alberta Lydia Frazier Albin. She was employed by Goodyear Rubber Co. in the employment office in Lincoln, Neb., for 27 1/2 years. She and her husband moved to Bella Vista in 1982 from Lincoln. She attended the Bella Vista Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul I. Boop, on July 20, 2005; a sister, Roberta Jo; and a grandson, David Boop.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald P. Boop of Providence, R. I., and Ronald P. Boop and Karen Boop of Wahoo, Neb.; a brother and sister-in-law, James Albin and Donna Albin of Omaha, Neb.; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Brazee and James Brazee of Lincoln, Neb.; a grandson; a granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Feb. 7 at the Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo, Neb. Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be made to the Veterans Wall of Honor, in care of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bella Vista Post 9063, 103 Veterans Way, Bella Vista, AR 72714; or to the New Hope Bible Church in Wahoo, Neb.

Mildred ‘Millie’ Davis

Mildred "Millie" Davis, 99, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 3, 2006, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. She was born Aug. 20, 1906, in Hampton, Iowa, to George Van Wert and Mabel Van Wert.

She was a graduate of Cornell College. She taught in public schools most of her career, starting in a oneroom country school near Hampton and later in Mount Vernon, Iowa. She was a member of the P. E. O. and an active member of the Methodist churches in Mount Vernon and Fort Dodge, Iowa, and the Highlands United Methodist Church of Bella Vista.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Dr. Watson M. Davis; a sister; and a brother.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Howard "Bud" Davis and Audrey Davis of Bella Vista; three grandchildren, Steven Davis of Berryville, Ark., Scott Davis of Tulsa, Okla., and Barbara Anderson of Portland, Ore.; two great-granddaughters, Jodie Davis and Amber Carston, both of Rogers, Ark.; a great-grandson, Ryan Davis of Tulsa; a brother; two sisters; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Highlands United Methodist Church in Bella Vista.

Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorials may be made to the Highlands United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 371 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715.

Terry Don Chapman

Terry Don Chapman, 44, of Pineville, Mo., died Feb. 2, 2006, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark. He was born May 15, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, to Roy Alvin Trobaugh and Barbara Ann Groombridge Trobaugh.

He worked as a framer in residential construction. He was a member of the Ascension Acres Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers and his motorcycle, and competing in motocross races.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Lynn Chapman, in 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Chapman; a daughter and son-in-law, Misty Dawn Maier and Pat Maier of Bella Vista, Ark.; a son, Steven Craig Chapman of Pineville; his mother, Barbara Lyons of Pineville; his father and stepmother, Roy Trobaugh and Rosemary Trobaugh of Alvarado, Texas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Lee Edwin Trobaugh and Mary Trobaugh of Springdale, Ark., and Jason Trobaugh of Alvarado; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Jenita Ann Dalton and David Dalton of Bentonville, Sherry Maxine Funk and Tom Funk of Monett, Mo., Karen Trobaugh, Sheila Farley and Jeff Farley, all of Alvarado, and Lisa Smith and Tommy Smith of Arlington, Texas; and a grandchild, Alexis Lee Maier.

A memorial service was held Feb. 5 at the Whittenburg Church in Pineville with Brother Jamey Cope.

Cremation arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge, Ark.

Russell L. Davis

Russell L. Davis, 99, of Kansas City, Kan., formerly of Hiwasse, Ark., died Feb. 3, 2006, at Providence Hospital in Kansas City. He was born March 13, 1906, in Limestone, Ark., to Billy Davis and Susie Davis. He was a retired carpenter and used his talent to build and remodel church buildings. He was an active member of the Basehor Church of Christ. He enjoyed singing and worked with the church for many years as a song leader and music instructor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Sams Davis, to whom he was marriage March 19, 1931; four brothers, five sisters, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Survivors include six daughters, Gleanna Nichols of Bentonville, Ark., Lorenna Banks of Hiwasse, Ark., Silva Garman of Diamond, Mo., Sue Habermehl of Bella Vista, Ark., Gretta Tigue of Lansing, Kan., and Barbara Cauveren of Kansas City, Kan.; a son, Russell Davis Jr. of Kansas City; three sisters, Grace Nelson of El Paso, Texas, Alpha Stone of Jasper, Ark., and Imalee Hendrix of Gravette, Ark.; 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Feb. 7 at the Church of Christ in Hiwasse with Gene Roberts, A. J. Hendrix and Steve Garman. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, near Hiwasse, Ark.

Frank J. Herrick

Frank J. Herrick, 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 3, 2006. He was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Brooklyn, N. Y., to Thomas F. Herrick and Agnes McCue Herrick.

He received his early education in Galveston, Texas, and later in Brooklyn at Saint Augustine’s High School in Park Slope. He entered the U.S. Navy in June 1941, served in the European Theater from 1943 to 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He joined the Royal Insurance Group in 1945 and served at various levels in New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Omaha, St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo. He retired as Regional Coordinator of the Kansas City, Mo., region. In 1983 he moved to Bella Vista, with his wife Deneise. As of member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, he served on the church council and numerous committees. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing cards, reading and working with stained glass. He was a life member of the Blue Goose, a charter member of VFW Post 9063 and a 4 th Degree Knight of Columbus at St. Bernard Council 9514 in Bella Vista.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Parks; a grandson, Joseph Rosenkoetter; and the mother of his three children, Florence Hickey Herrick.

Survivors include his wife, Deneise Herrick; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Ann "Dixie" Delcasino and Mike Delcasino of Forest Hills, N. Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen Rosenkoetter and Jim Rosenkoetter of Terre Du Lac, Mo.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank James Herrick Jr. and Celeste Herrick, and Robert Herrick and Linda Herrick, all of St. Louis, Mo.; a grand- daughter, Maureen Rosenkoetter Burlison; four grandsons, Charles, Brian, Denis and Sean; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Burlison; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Rochelle Waugh and Curtis Waugh of Topeka, Kan.; and a stepson, Robert R. Amerine of Kansas City, Mo.

A rosary was said Feb. 6 at St. Bernard Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass services were held Feb. 7 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville, Ark.

Interment was at the St. Bernard’s Columbarium.
