James E. Grimes

James Edward Grimes, 72 year-old resident of Gentry, Arkansas, died December 9, 2004, at his residence. Born April 27, 1932 in Hereford, Texas, he was the son of James Arthur Grimes and Davie Lucille Clark Grimes. He was a truck driver and woodcraftsman. He was a truck driver for 32 years and retired from driving with Tyson Foods in 1993. After retirement, he owned and operated Uncle Jim's Woodcraft and Trisquare Woodcraft, both in Gentry. He was a volunteer at the Gentry Public Library and a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church of God, Gentry. James marriage Dixie Wynell Hynds in Hereford, Texas in 1952. He was preceded in death by one infant brother.

Survivors include his wife Dixie of the home; five sons, Samuel J. Grimes and wife Elda of Diamond, Missouri, John W. Grimes and wife Yong Chu of Jacksonville, Florida, Leo A. Grimes and wife Teri of Garden Grove, California, Richard M. Grimes and wife Angelica of Gentry, Arkansas, and George E. Grimes and wife Kathy of Bentonville, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 2004, at Calvary Pentecostal Church of God in Gentry, Arkansas, with Pastor Tim Truman officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gentry Public Library, Gentry, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Pete Bailey

Pete Bailey, 84 of Colcord, Oklahoma, died December 11, 2004, at Northwest Medical Center, Springdale, Arkansas. Born March 28, 1920, in Colcord, Oklahoma, he was the son of Richard Bailey and Ruth Williams Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a lifetime resident of Colcord, Oklahoma were he lived and worked as a farmer. He was of Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sisters, Annie Gifford of Westville, Oklahoma, and Lillie Clark of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at the Wasson Memorial Chapel, with the Bro. Ralph DeVore officiating. Burial will follow in the Kansas Cemetery, Kansas, Oklahoma. Viewing will be in the morning before the service. Arrangements are under the directions of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Elaine Carpenter

Elaine Carpenter, 74, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas died Friday, December 17, 2004, at the Siloam Springs Medical Center. Born April 18, 1930 in Jackson, Ohio, she was the daughter of William A. Hatten and Mable Blair Hatten. She was a homemaker. Elaine marriage LeRoy "Lee" Carpenter in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 17, 1959. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Avanelle Ratcliff and Anna Mildred Hatten, and two brothers, Floyd Hatten and Donald Hatten .

Survivors include her husband, Lee of the home; One son, Donald Carpenter and wife Kim of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; four grandchildren; one sister, Doris Allen of Phoenix, Arizona; three brothers, Roy Hatten of Jackson, Ohio, Renaldo Hatten of Phoenix, Arizona and Harold Hatten of Jackson, Ohio.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2004 at the Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with Pastor Tim Estes officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Eula R. Ledbetter

Eula Rae Ledbetter, 80 year-old resident of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died Monday, December 20, 2004, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. Born November 17, 1924 in Farmington, Arkansas she was the daughter of William Harvey Crowder and Lucy McKinley Crowder. She lived many years in the Bloomfield Community near Gentry, Arkansas. She was a riveter on the B24's for the defense department during World War II. She enjoyed poetry and wrote numerous poems. Eula was a homemaker and a member of the Eastgate Church of Christ in Siloam Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Ledbetter in 2001, and her son, James Ledbetter in 1989.

Survivors include 3 sons, Jeff Ledbetter of Cincinnati, Arkansas, Dave Ledbetter and wife Lori of Santa Clarita, California, and Ken Ledbetter and wife Beth of Fairfax, Virginia; 3 sisters, Eutha Mae Hill of Irving, Texas, Mary Sue Guinn of Tempe, Arizona, Doris Evelyn Stevens of Kingman, Arizona; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2004, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with Mr. Charles Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Bloomfield Cemetery, near Gentry, Arkansas. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, at Wasson Funeral Home.

Donald E. Philpot, Sr.

Donald Elmo Philpot, Sr., 85 year-old resident of Decatur, Arkansas, died December 21, 2004, at his residence. Born January 6, 1919 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, he was the son of James Willis Philpott and Lena Vesta Slinker Philpott. He was a welder and boiler operator. He lived in Olathe, Kansas prior to moving to Decatur. He was a member of the VFW and the Gentry Seventh Day Adventist Church, Gentry, Arkansas. He marriage Mary Belle Reinhardt in Yuma, Arizona on December 25, 1942. Donald was preceded in death by one daughter Deanna Louise Philpot, and siblings Elizabeth, Alva, James, Lettie and LaVerne.

Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years, Mary Belle of the home; one son, Donald E. Philpot and wife Jamie of Decatur, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Philpot of Decatur, Arkansas, and Jill Philpot of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; one sister, Imogene Ward of Washington, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2004, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with Elder Donald Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Gentry Cemetery, Gentry, Arkansas.

Norma L. Mitchell

Norma Lee Mitchell, 60-year old resident of Summers, Arkansas, died December 21, 2004, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born March 24, 1944 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Elmer R. Burden and Beatrice Ivey Burden. She was a lifetime resident of the Summers and was a dairy farmer and homemaker. Norma was a graduate of Siloam Springs High School and Draughon's Business College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended Wedington Missionary Baptist Church, Wedington, Arkansas and was a member of Eastgate Church of Christ, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Norma marriage Ray Dean Mitchell on November 17, 1967 in Siloam Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her mother and father.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy Mitchell and Chuck Mitchell, both of Summers, Arkansas; one granddaughter, Cara Nicole Mitchell of Summers, Arkansas; one brother, Clifford Reynolds of Juanquin, Texas; and one sister, Ina McGarrah and husband Larry of Denver, Colorado.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 24, 2004, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with Rev. Phil Misenheimer officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Benton County, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Lester Turtle

Lester Turtle, 62 year-old resident of Watts, OK died Thursday, December 23, 2004, in the Veteran's Medical Center, Fayetteville, Arkansas, following an extended illness. Born October 23, 1942 in Tahlequah, Okla., the son of William and Della Mae Kelly Turtle and a life resident of Adair County. Mr. Turtle was a disabled veteran of Vietnam and a former employee of Franklin Electric.

Survivors include his wife Pat of the home; one son, James Turtle of Westville, Okla.; one step-son, Dean Hammons of the home; six grandchildren; five brothers, Paul Turtle of Proctor, Okla., O. J. Turtle of Oaks, Okla., T. J. Turtle, Dean, and Bill Turtle of Chewey, Okla.; one sister, Phyllis Turtle of Chewey, Okla.

A visitation will be held Sunday, between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 27, in New Hope Cemetery near Chewey, Oklahoma, with burial in New Hope Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Ronald L. Robrahn

Ronald Robrahn, 86-year-old resident of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died December 25, 2004, in Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. Born June 18, 1918, in Gridley, Kansas, he was the son of Carl W. Robrahn and Maude Fleming Robrahn. Ronald had lived in Siloam Springs since 1946, moving here from Kansas City. He Married Doris Laurence December 29, 1939, in Lexington, Missouri. Ron was co-owner operator of Robrahn Brothers Welding in Siloam Springs for over 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Ronald was a member and past-president of Siloam Springs Lions Club with over 50 years of perfect attendance, and a member of First Christian Church in Siloam Springs. He was also a charter member of the Northwest Arkansas Gem and Mineral Society and the R.C. Flying Club. He was preceded in death by his son Ron Robrahn, Jr.

Survivors include his wife Doris of the home; 1 son, Larry Robrahn and wife Linda of Siloam Springs; 2 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Rex Robrahn and wife Jeanne of Siloam Springs.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at First Christian Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas with Mr. Jack Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs. A visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, December 27, at Wasson Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Benjamin John Pollard

Benjamin John Pollard, 21, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died May 14, 2011. Born December 28, 1989, in Oxford, England, he was son of Chip and Carey Pollard. Ben lived in River Forest, Illinois, in Charlottesville, Virginia, and then in Grand Rapids, Michigan before his family moved to Siloam Springs seven years ago. He played soccer and graduated with honors from Siloam Springs High School. He studied English Literature at John Brown University and loved to write. He had a passionate concern for young people, and served as camp counselor at Lake Geneva Youth Camp in Wisconsin and as a youth soccer coach in Siloam Springs. He cared deeply and lovingly for his friends, especially his girlfriend, Megan McLoud, and his friends in Suite 26 at J. Alvin residence hall.

Survivors include his parents Chip and Carey Pollard of Siloam Springs; siblings Chad Pollard of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Emma and James Pollard of Siloam Springs; grandparents Bill and Judy Pollard of Wheaton, Illinois; grandmother Carolyn Stockman of Estero, Florida; uncles and aunts, Chris and Julie Grant of Wheaton, Illinois; Brian and Becky Pollard of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; Amy and Mark Burdett of Wheaton, Illinois; Carla Stockman of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; and thirteen cousins; he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gordon Stockman of Estero, Florida, and his uncle, Tim Stockman of Estero, Florida.

Pallbearers will be Chad and James Pollard, Andrew Stockman, Brian Pollard, Mark, Jonathan and Will Burdett, and Chris Grant.

Visitation will be at the Wasson Funeral Home from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 18. A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral of the Ozarks at JBU on Thursday, May 19 at 10:00 am, with Rev. Breck Castleman officiating. Private family burial service will occur in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to John Brown University, and will be used to fund student scholarships and JBU SIFE work with children and orphans in Guatemala.
