Dr. Jerry Lee Rice

Dr. Jerry Lee Rice, 89, of Rogers, Arkansas died on 29 July, 2020. He was born on 25 May, 1931 in Salem, Ohio, the son of Fred and Avon Rice.
He attended the then-named College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas where he met his first wife, the late Myra Woody Rice of Greenwood, Arkansas.
After college Dr. Rice attended the McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, where he subsequently earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in divinity. He was a pastor at several Indiana churches before joining the U.S. Air Force as a chaplain in 1960. He served as a Presbyterian chaplain at eleven locations including the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado; Wiesbaden, Germany; and Okinawa, Japan. He also served a remote tour in northern Alaska. He retired from the Air Force in 1984 having achieved the rank of colonel. His military decorations include several Meritorious Service Medals and the Legion of Merit.
His first position after his military career was Dean of the Chapel at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville. He was later a pastor at churches in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Plano, Texas; Enid, Oklahoma and Rogers, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Myra and his twin older siblings, Donald Rice and Donna Ehrhart.
He is survived by his loving wife Miriam, whom he met in Rogers in 2015; son Kevin Rice and his wife Diana of Monte Vista, Colorado; daughter Kimberly Peel and her husband David of Ft Collins, Colorado; son Kerry Rice and his husband Jaap Dekker of Wiesbaden, Germany; and daughter Karyl Sorge and her husband Keith of Menomonie, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren: Holly Rice, Kathryn Lawrence, Lauren Goedereis, Carter Peel, Ryan Sorge, Brett Sorge, Drew Sorge, and Kari Sorge; thirteen great-grandchildren; niece Stevie Jo Thomas and nephew John Ehrhart, Jr.
Dr Rice was proud of his military service and was known throughout his military and civilian careers for his compassion, his sense of humor and his great preaching skills.
Rebecca Van Gaale
December 6, 1946 until July 24, 2020
Rebecca Van Gaale, 73, of Fayetteville died Friday, July 24, 2020 at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville. She was born on December 6, 1946 in Compton, California the daughter of Shirley and Alfred Mitchell.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by five children; Michael Harris, John Harris, Lisa Harris, Corrie Van Gaale, Hank Van Gaale, two siblings; Randall Mitchell, Patricia Loftran, six grandchildren and many loving friends.
Claudia June Quisenberry
June 30, 1931 until July 19, 2020
Claudia June Quisenberry, 89, of Aurora, Colorado passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Concordia Retirement Center in Bella Vista, Arkansas. She was born June 30, 1931 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Claudia was an elementary special education teacher for many years in Colorado schools. She was a pastor’s wife of 68+ years and enjoyed the love of her family and friends. She lost her battle with the after effects of a stroke from two years ago. She was a wonderful influence and example to so many and she will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Quisenberry of Bella Vista; her children: Susan Roberts and husband, Varnell, of Bella Vista, and Stephen Quisenberry and his wife, Laura, of Franklin, TN; four grandchildren: Justin Roberts, Rachel Vonhof, Caitlin Quisenberry, and Cole Quisenberry; four great-grandchildren: Gage Roberts, Harlow Roberts, Luke Vonhof, and Logan Vonhof; and many other loving family members.
Helen Glemboski Long
July 7, 1926 until July 19 2020
Helen Glemboski Long, 94, of Rogers, Ark., passed peacefully away July 19, 2020, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark. She was born July 7, 1926, in Colchester, Conn., to Joseph Glemboski and Katherine Pasternak Glemboski.
While she was born and raised in Connecticut, she lived most of her life in the South and adapted to Southern climate, culture, and foods, but she never lost her Northern accent or love for her family, hometown and New England culture.
She is survived by six children, Steven Long (Lea) of Rogers, Mary Holmes (Ted) of Yuba City, Calif., Rose Woods (Gene) of Rogers, Jim Long of Claremore, Okla., George Long (Barbara) of Rogers, Alice Heikens (Norm) of Franklin, Ind.; one brother, Thomas Glemboski of Colchester, Conn.; 11 grandchildren (Larenzo Woods, Tim Holmes, John Holmes, Jonathan Woods, Stephanie Long, David Long, Jessica Long, Ethan Heikens, Matthew Long, James Long, and John Long); and 11 great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her beloved Glemboski family, Long/Oliver family (known to them as Pee Wee), and friends who are like family. She was predeceased by brothers Frank Glemboski, Leo Glemboski, and Ed Glemboski.
There will not be a visitation or public funeral service due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her remains will be buried in St. Joseph Cemetery in Colchester, Conn., when it is safe for the family to travel and gather.

Arthur Hays Buenning
July 16, 2020 until November 23, 1942
Arthur Hays Buenning, 77, passed away on Thursday, July 16th at his home in Decatur, Arkansas. He was born on November 23rd, 1942 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Norman and Jessamine Buenning.
Hays was drafted into the Army in 1966, serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, family, and was faithful to his church. He and Diane enjoyed several trips across the U.S. during retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his aunt and uncle; Bonnie and Vernon Buenning.
Hays is survived by his wife; Diane, his sons; Robert of Decatur, AR., and Travis and his wife Carlotta of Decatur, AR., his brother; Richard Johnson and wife Sherry of Nevada, Iowa, his sister; Vivian Jones and husband Russell of Rogers, AR., his grandchildren; Katelyn Bohl, Jerrimia Buenning, Majorieann Bohl, Skyler Settle, and Elizabeth Buenning, one great-grandchild; Ezra Buenning, and many other beloved family and friends.
A celebration of life graveside service is scheduled Saturday July 25th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Decatur Cemetery.
Frances Clifton
December 2, 1927 until July 13, 2020
Lola Frances Clifton, age 92, of Little Rock, formerly of Rogers, died Monday, July 13, 2020 in Little Rock. She was born December 2, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas the daughter of Hazel Frances Snodgrass and Joseph Preston Butts.
If you looked up the word homemaker in the dictionary you would find a photo of Frances. She was never still during the day. She could always find one more thing that needed to be done.
After retirement Charles and Frances rarely did anything without one another. Often they would go to the grocery store with a cooler so they could have lunch while they were out!
She loved church activities at Christ United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas and First United Methodist Church of Rogers, Arkansas. Many people have received the sweet cards and notes that she would write to wish you well or thank you for an evening in your home.
Birds and flowers were some of her favorite things. In her last years she enjoyed watching birds at the feeder out her window and fresh flowers delivered to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Charles Clifton, whom she married November 28, 1948. The couple lived in Northwest Arkansas for 31 years, after moving from Houston, Texas.
Frances is survived by: one son; Charles Clifton and his wife Kathy, of Pearland, Texas, one daughter; Yvonne Bish and her husband Jeff, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and three grandchildren; Taylor, Austin, and Blair Bish.
A celebration of Frances’s life will be Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery located in Houston, Texas with Don Meader officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at Andover Independent Living, her caregivers, Mary Healy, Cihen Tau, and Katrina Johnson and the staff of Hospice Homecare especially Nurse Bliss Beemon.

Sandra Lee Mathieu
October 10, 1937 until July 7, 2020
Sandra Lee Mathieu passed away on July 7th, 2020 after a five year battle with breast cancer. She was the only daughter of William D. Dombrow and Esther Lillian (Clemenson) Dowbrow and was born on October 10, 1937 in Chicago Illinois. She was raised in Oak Park, Illinois along with her brother, William (Billy).
In 1958, she met and married Jack Mathieu. Jack was drafted in 1958 into the Army as an airline mechanic and they relocated to Ft. Bliss in Texas for two years. Sandra was always very proud to also serve her country by being an Army wife.
She was a very talented singer, ballet dancer and tap dancer and continued to share her wonderful voice with the various churches she attended. Sandra’s professional career included managing a country club restaurant and working in legal departments for various real estate developers in Arizona and Arkansas. She was a strong and independent person, instilling those traits in her two daughters.
In 1978 she met the love of her life, Tony Dobson. Over the next 16 years, they spent time in Louisiana and Arkansas constructing or rebuilding homes in each city where they lived, ultimately residing in Bella Vista Arkansas. After Tony’s passing in 1994, Sandra continued to work in Bentonville and serve her church in Bella Vista.
Sandra also had a gift for helping those in need and spent the last several years of her life comforting the bereaved at Epting Funeral Home of Northwest Arkansas.
Sandra is survived by her daughters Debbie Francois and Vicki Gee and her granddaughter Toni Gee. Due to Covid 19, there are no planned services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church, Bella Vista Ar.
