Chris Givens Chandler

Chris Givens Chandler, 55, of Bentonville passed away July 13, 2017 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. He was born September 28, 1961 in Morganfield, KY to Bob and Nelle Chandler.

Chris loved life and always befriended those less fortunate. He loved Bentonville Tigers football and basketball and the Razorbacks.

Chris was preceded in death by his daughter Tonya Elliott and infant son Zach Chandler.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Duncan Chandler; children: Chad Duncan of Kansas, Kassie DeCorte of Arizona, Candace Gonzales of Springdale, and Dustin Chandler of Bentonville; his parents; brother, Lenn Chandler and wife, Heather, of Bentonville; and several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 2-4pm at Bentonville Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 17 at 1:00pm at Bentonville Church of Christ, with burial to follow at Bentonville City Cemetery.

Sharon Kay Bradley

Sharon Kay Bradley, 73, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at her residence.

Survivors include: two sons; Roy Miller, of Bentonville, Ray Miller, of Bentonville, Shelly David, of California, Lynette Moresco, of Oregon, Nikole Wrinkle, of Lowell, and many other relatives and friends.

Nathaniel Holmes III

Nathaniel Holmes III “Nat", 69, passed away on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017 in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Nat was born in Chicago, Illinois to Gwendolyn Joyce Macdonald and Nathaniel Ralph Holmes II.

He is survived by his sister Daphne Joyce Daniels; brother William “Tad” Holmes; son, Nathaniel Chandler Holmes IV, and his wife Karen; daughter, Dianna Jayne Wissink, and her husband Travis; daughter, Julia Anne Ortiz, and her husband Joseph; daughter, Elizabeth Anne Holmes; their mother, Mary Ann Holmes, and his six grandchildren; Alexandra, Jack, Addison, Aiden, Jacob and Amalia.

Nat served his country in the United States Marine Corp in Vietnam (1967-1968). During his time in Vietnam he served in 5 major combat operations providing key communications for air and fire arm support of his unit. Nat received the Navy Achievement Medal for his service as well as a Purple Heart.

He later graduated from the police academy and University of Redlands in California. He went on to work for the San Clemente PD, the City of Orange PD and lastly for the San Jacinto PD where he retired in 1997 after serving as their police chief. He retired from the Riverside FBI in 1998. Upon retiring, Nat settled in Arkansas and enjoyed flying helicopters, road trips, visiting friends and family and reading.

A graveside service will be held on July 21st at 10:00 am at Cedar Hill Cemetery located in Brownsville, Ohio. Full military honors will be provided by Mound Builders, VFW Post #1060, “All American Post” of Newark, Ohio.

Raymond A. Phipps

Raymond A Phipps, 86, of Fayetteville passed away at home July 10th, 2017. He was born December 24th, 1930 to Earl and Grace Phipps.

Raymond graduated from Prairie Grove in 1949 and served honorably in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife Deena Cowan Phipps.

Raymond is survived by four sons and their wives, Tony and Donna, Mike and Darlene, Scott and Joni, Danny and Debbie, a daughter and her husband, Tammy and Brad Wetzel, a sister, Mary Campbell, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 Saturday July 15th, 2017 at Weddington Cemetery.

Don Allen Bright

Don Allen Bright, 80, of Fayetteville passed away July 10 at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born May 15, 1937 in Oklahoma City, OK to Virgil and Martha Bright, both of whom preceded him in death.

Don is survived by his wife, Maureen Bright; daughter, Debbie Van Horn and her husband Lee; grandsons, Jacob and Nathan Williams; great-grandchildren: Ryan, Reagan, and Ian Williams; and sisters, Jackie Bredenger and Judi Davis.

Don was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he attended Marquette High School. He also attended the University of Tulsa, as well as Texas Christian University. During his life in Tulsa, he was a member of the Air National Guard.

Through mutual friends he met and married Maureen Johnson and they lived in Tulsa until moving to Prairie Grove, AR to raise cattle in 1978. In 2002 after Don retired, they moved to Fayetteville. This year they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Don enjoyed writing most of all and was a prolific poet. He also wrote editorials for the local newspaper and hosted call-in shows for local radio stations.

No service or viewing will be held.

Stacie Sjoquist

Stacie Sjoquist, of Springdale died Monday, July 10, 2017 at Willard Walker Hospice House.

Survivors: two sons; Eric Jones and his wife Nicki, of Springdale, Jayson Bonetti, of Washington DC, three brothers including Eric Sjoquist, of Springdale, one sister, and two granddaughters.

Mary Linda Peterson

Mary Linda Peterson, 69, of Farmington died Sunday, July 09, 2017 at Willard Walker Hospice House located in Fayetteville. She was born September 27, 1947 in Bristow, Oklahoma the daughter of Edna Mae Long and Chester Alexander Penn.

She enjoyed reading, working with her husband Mike and spending time with family.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Linda is survived by: her husband of 29 years, Michael Peterson, four sons; Jason Peterson and his wife Lou of Utah, Corey Peterson, of Utah, Kyle Peterson and his wife Sarah, of Utah, Jeremy Peterson, of Farmington, two daughters; Tonya Stout and her husband Darrell, of Washington, Michele Levine, of Rogers, two brothers; Leroy Penn and his wife Kathy, of Idaho, Larry Penn and his wife Katie, of Oklahoma, one sister; Lois Shamas, of Oklahoma, numerous nieces and nephews, 12 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Hope Cancer Resources of Springdale, AR.
