Lucille Buckels Leslie
Lucille Buckels Leslie, 97, of Rogers, Ark., died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark. She was born June 19, 1907, in Jasper, Fla., to Robert C. Buckels Sr. and Luanna Crews Buckels.
Survivors include a son, Boyce Howell of Rogers; three grandchildren, Dale Howell of Bella Vista, Ark., Keith Howell of Phoenix, Ariz., and Evelyn Lynn Rich of Rogers; and five great-grandsons.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Jasper, Fla.
Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Rogers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Florida Sheriff's Boys Ranch or the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital.
Ruby Pearl Pennington
Ruby Pearl Pennington, 94, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Fall River, Kan., died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark. She was born Dec. 17, 1909, in Wichita, Kan., to James T. Foster and Ollie Craig Foster .
She was a member of the Zion Methodist Church in Wichita.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, William Isaac Pennington and Anderson Davis Pennington; a granddaughter, Amy A. Halsey; two sisters, Mable M. Fox and Lottie Marsters; and two brothers, Floyd Marsters and Harry Marsters.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bob Pennington and Louise Pennington of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty M. Pulver and Morris Pulver of Mountain Home, Ark., Rosemary Halsey and Donald Halsey of Garfield, Ark., and Caroline Sue Perry and Larry Perry of Andover, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 6 at DeVorss-Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita, Kan.
Burial will be at the Old Mission Cemetery in Wichita.
Richard Henry Schowalter, 89, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sept. 23, 2004, at Bentonville Manor in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Feb. 28, 1915, in Wichita, Kan., to Henry Peter Schowalter and Isabelle Knott Schowalter.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He attended Wichita University. He married Grace Heldenbrand on Dec. 23, 1981, in Kansas City, Mo. He retired after 42 years with Beech Aircraft. He and his wife moved to Bella Vista in 1983 from Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of the Albert Pike Masonic Lodge AF&AM in Wichita and the Bella Vista Community Church. He was a former president of the Kansas City Club in Bella Vista.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Schowalter; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Schowalter; a son, Dick Schowalter of Rogers, Ark.; a daughter, Anita Kern of Palatine, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Oct. 1 at the Bella Vista Community Church Chapel.
Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Russell Lavern See
Russell Lavern See, 85, of Garfield, Ark., died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Eureka Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eureka Springs, Ark. He was born Jan. 9, 1919, in Fort Des Moines, Iowa, to Jesse Earl See and Edith Sophie Backstrom See.
He was a World War II veteran, serving as a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army in the Philippines. He owned and operated Russell's Green house and Flower Shop in Des Moines, and was employed by Armstrong Tire & Rubber for 33 years as a banner bias operator. He moved to the Garfield area in March 1999 from Iowa. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Lenore See, on Aug. 10, 1998; a brother, Raymond See; and a sister, Virginia Fritz.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dan See and Carol See of Garfield; a daughter, Edith Berogan of Lorimor, Iowa; two brothers, Clarence M. See of Carlisle, Iowa, and Larry L. See of Garfield; a sister, Phyllis Polson of Bella Vista, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge, Ark.
Sue Thelen
Sue Thelen, 70, of Oregon, Wis., formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sept. 25, 2004, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center in Fitchburg, Ore., after a battle with cancer. She was born April 2, 1934, in Illinois to Lloyd Floto and Florence Floto.
She married Clarence Thelen on April 11, 1953, in Johnsburg, Ill. The couple farmed in Elkhorn, Wis., for 38 years before retiring to Bella Vista, Ark.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Thelen; four sons and daughters-in-law, Dan Thelen and Sue Thelen, and Larry Thelen and Vicky Thelen, all of Oregon, Wis., Steve Thelen and Kimberly Thelen of Jefferson, Wis., and Brian Thelen and Lori Thelen of Houston, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Beery and Jim Beery of Durham, N.C.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Darlene Davis, and Vivian Teeters and Jim Teeters; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul Floto and Pat Floto; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church in Oregon, Wis.
A memorial service was held Oct. 2 at the Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church with Father Connell.
Services will be held at a later date in Bella Vista, Ark.
Cremation arrangements were by Gunderson Oregon Funeral Home of Oregon, Wis.

Robert Joseph DiVita
Robert Joseph DiVita, 79, of Rogers, formerly of Bella Vista, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers.
He was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to Joseph DiVita and Ada Germanani DiVita. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and in the Air Force in the Korean War. He retired from NASA in 1975. He was also an avid stamp collector.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Marie DiVita of the home; one son, Bruce DiVita of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Alex DiVita of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service is pending. Cremation arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
Mitchell "Mitch" S. Dunham
Mitchell "Mitch" S. Dunham, 96, of Bella Vista, Ark. died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. He was born June 15, 1908 in Maysville, Mo. to Joseph Robert Dunham and Nora Bell (Chaney) Dunham.
He and his wife, Opal moved to Bella Vista in 1975 from Overland Park, Kan. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church. He was past Chairman of POA Communication Committee and past chairman of the Golf Committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, "Bob" Robert Dunham; two sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Dunham of Bella Vista, Ark.; one son, Joseph "Joe" Dunham of Comox, British Columbia, Canada, and two grandchildren.
