Martha Fosdick
Martha Fosdick, 88, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Bella Vista, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at her home. She was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Gridley, Ill., to James Heiple and Lucille Musser Heiple.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lincoln.
She was an avid golfer and bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel Fosdick.
Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary Grimes and Willie Grimes of Pelham, Ala., and Kathy Barber and Allen Barber, Jayne Juma and Marshal Juma, and Sue Radke, all of Lincoln; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jim Fosdick of Hollister, Calif., and Mike Fosdick and Jane Fosdick, and Tim Fosdick and Sandy Fosdick, all of Lincoln; two sisters, Ceil Beich of Bloomington, Ill., and Bobby Kahle of Normal, Ill.; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 13, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lincoln with Father Liam Barr.
Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery in Lincoln.
Arrangements were by Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home of Lincoln.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for research.
Robert Don Tedford
Robert Don Tedford, 61, of Bella Vista died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in a hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born Dec. 6, 1942, in Lindsay, Okla., to Don Allen Tedford and Lola Tedford.
He graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He worked as a certified public accountant and later became a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Hayes; and his father, Don Allen Tedford.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Tedford; his mother, Lola Tedford of Oklahoma; three children, Jeffrey Tedford of the U.S. Navy in Iceland, Robin Peterson of Houston, Texas, and John Tedford of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Doug Tedford and Pam Tedford of Gentry and Phil Tedford of Grove, Okla.; two sisters, Anna Ruth of Houston and Cecelia Graham of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are by Affordable Cremation Services of Oklahoma City.
Betty L. Beggs
Betty L. Beggs, 73, of Bella Vista, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at her home. She was born June 28, 1928, in Centralia, Ill., to Ezra and Stella Walters Cripps.
Her family moved to Santa Monica, Calif., where she was raised. She married Joe Beggs of Ellis, Kan., on Jan. 8, 1948. The couple lived in Ellis until 1985, when they moved to Bella Vista.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the executive committee of the Union Pacific "Junior Old Timers" for five years, during which she visited 33 Union Pacific Clubs in 11 states and attended annual national conventions in Sun Valley, Idaho. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and was active at Christ Lutheran Church and in other community activities.
She was an avid golfer and bowler, and enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Cripps.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Beggs; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Randy McCoy of Sunny Hills, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Michael Allen of Chicago, Amber Allen of Atlanta and Rebecca Barton of Eaton, Ohio.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the Callison-Lough Funeral Home chapel in Bentonville. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Bentonville Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. John Lightsey officiating.
Bobbie Ann Bergman
Bobbie Ann Bergman, 66, of Bella Vista, died Saturday March 16, 2002, at her home. She was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Coffeyville, Kan.
She had no known survivors.
A memorial service was held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Bella Vista Community Church.
Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Bentonville.
Edna Estelle Duncan
Edna Estelle Duncan, 95, of Springdale, died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Holland Nursing Center in Springdale. She was born Nov. 18, 1906, in Kansas City, Kan., to Luther Curran and Pearl Hattie Hatcher Galyean.
She was a saleswoman for Ryan's Clothing Store in Springdale. She and her husband had owned a drugstore in Centerton and in Gentry. She had been a member of the Christian Church of Hiwasse since age 10.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Rivers M. Duncan, on July 6, 1955; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include 13 nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews, several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers. Graveside funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Centerton Cemetery with Lynn Brown officiating.
Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
Walter Dean Durfey
Walter Dean Durfey, 90, of Bella Vista, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. He was born Jan. 22, 1912, in Wellington, Texas, to William Dean and Minnie Lee Campbell Durfey.
He married Bernice Alma Davis on Feb. 11, 1944. He worked in the gas and gasoline division of Texaco for more than 37 years.
He and his wife moved to Bella Vista in October 1977 from Midland, Texas. He was a member of Bella Vista First United Methodist Church, Bella Vista Men's Nine-Hole Golf Association, Fly Tyers Club, Northwest Arkansas Woodcarvers, Bella Vista Woodcarvers, United Methodist Men's Club and Bella Vista Garden Club.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Merritt Durfey; and a sister, Dora Fern Warrick.
Survivors included his wife of 58 years, Bernice Alma Durfey; two sons, Walter Lewis Durfey of Tambo, Bolivia, South America, and Garry Dean Durfey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Deanna Lynn Nease of Rogers; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Bella Vista First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Williams and the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating.
