Clara Marie Honer
Clara Marie Honer, 73, of Bella Vista, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, in Rogers. She was born March 25, 1928, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Martin and Cornelia Jervik.
She married Joseph A. Honer on Oct. 17, 1948. They retired and moved to Bella Vista in 1987.
She attended United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, where she was a member of Martha Circle and Altar Guild. She was also a volunteer for the Northwest Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute Auxiliary and Helping Hands.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Honer of Bella Vista; two daughters, Nancy Ayers of Mulvane, Kan., and Julie Pritchard of Augusta, Kan.; two sons, Dr. Craig Honer of San Antonio, Texas, and Mark Honer of Shawnee, Kan.; one brother, Clarence Jervik of Sioux Falls; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista with the Revs. Richard Jebsen and Fred Schaap officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3405 Bella Vista Way, Bella Vista, Ark. (72714).
George 'Ted' Moberly
George "Ted" Moberly, 84, of Bentonville, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Stillwell, Okla., to William and Hettie Kaiser Moberly.
He graduated from Bentonville High School in 1938, and played football for BHS.
He and his wife, Juanita, owned and operated the Texaco gas station on the Missouri-Arkansas state line from 1945 to 1965.
In 1957, Ted planted his first vineyard and apple orchard near what is now called Moberly Lane in Bentonville. His agricultural knowledge was widely sought out, including his gardening skills, which won county fair ribbons and fed family and friends with record-size, 5-pound turnips.
He enjoyed water skiing and camping on Beaver Lake, and was still skiing at the age of 70. He enjoyed traveling and was a member of Bella Vista Good Sams Club for more than 20 years.
He was a member of the "Meet & Eat" breakfast group that has met every Tuesday for the past 20 years. He was very active in the First Christian Church of Bentonville since 1938, where he served as a deacon and trustee.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy Ann and Jeff Thompson of Oklahoma City; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorena Stanton of Yuma, Ariz., Grace and C.Y. Adams of Campti, La.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Norman and Scott Thompson, both of Oklahoma City; three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Juanita Lawson Moberly, in 1997; and brothers John Kennedy, Bill Moberly, Tom Moberly and sister Opal Kennedy.
Graveside committal service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Benton County Memorial Park. A memorial and celebration of life service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at First Christian Church of Bentonville with the Rev. Don Morrow officiating.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Bentonville; or to Circle of Life Hospice, 610 E. Emma Ave., Springdale, Ark. (72764).
Funeral arrangements are by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.
Robert Terry Updegraff
Robert Terry Updegraff, 72, of Bella Vista, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in Bella Vista. He was born March 28, 1929, in Kirskville, Mo., to Paul Hazelton and Madeliene Esther Terry Updegraff.
He married Jean Marie Wuerges on Sept. 19, 1953, in Detroit, Mich. He moved to Bella Vista in July 1997 from Pinson, Ala.
He was a member of Highland Christian Church of Bella Vista, Bella Vista Crime Watch, and was a volunteer at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant after 22 years of service.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Ellen Updegraff, on Dec. 7, 1970.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Marie Updegraff.
No services are planned. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
Ruth C. Anderson
Ruth C. Anderson, 81, of Bella Vista, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at her home. She was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Carl and Frances Speak.
She married Franklin Baer in 1942. While in high school, she began her career as a cosmetics clerk. She later became a jewelry buyer for Gibson's in Amarillo.
She was working on a bachelor of arts degree at Kearney State College when she married Glen Anderson in 1970. The couple lived in Holdrege, Neb., for 15 years.
After her husband's retirement, they moved to Bella Vista in 1985. She was an active member of Bella Vista Christian Church until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Speak and Sylvia Perretti.
Survivors include her husband, Glen Anderson; a daughter, Dinah Baer of Bella Vista; a son, Timothy Baer of Amarillo, Texas; a stepson, Robert Anderson of Lincoln, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Mary Engle of Norfolk, Neb.; and a sister, Norma Richards of Sylvania, Ohio.
Burial was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Bella Vista Cemetery. A memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Bella Vista Christian Church.
Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Alton R. Foster
He grew up in Hot Springs, and graduated from high school in Little Rock, Ark. He earned a degree in music from Hendrix College in Conway.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. After his discharge, he received his master's degree in music from Wichita (Kan.) State University.
In 1951, he moved to Garden City, where he was owner and operator of Foster Music Store until he retired in 1987. He and his wife then moved to Bella Vista, and he had recently moved back to Garden City.
He was an accomplished musician, and was still active, playing trombone in the Bella Vista Big Band and Bella Vista Community Band and giving music lessons. He was a member of Bella Vista Community Church, the church choir and the church quartet.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Bella Vista. He enjoyed golf and athletics.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Mae Foster , on July 19, 1993.
Survivors include three sons, Rhea Foster of Stillwater, Okla., Lowry Foster of Little Rock and Jim Foster of Garden City; two daughters, Mary Beth Spellman of Garden City and Jane Hollingsworth of Oklahoma City; two brothers, LeRoy Foster of Ashland, Ore., and Jim Foster of Harrison; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Bella Vista Community Church with the Rev. David McKay.
Local arrangements are with Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
