Arkansas, Marriage Certificates, 1917-1972

LeRoy Eugene Nelson
LeRoy Eugene Nelson, 72, of Bentonville, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. He was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Mount Sterling, Iowa, to Samuel G. and Sadie M. Garrett Nelson.
He married Beulah Dickson on Oct. 2, 1954, in West Grove, Iowa. He was a farmer.
He retired from Young Radiator in Centerville, Iowa. He moved to Bentonville in 1995 from Blakesburg, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Nelson, on Aug. 20, 1996; a sister, Madeline Eden; and two brothers.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home of Blakesburg, Iowa. Burial was at West Grove Cemetery in West Grove, Iowa.
Local arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory of Bella Vista.

Leon Arthur Roggen
Leon Arthur Roggen, 80, of Tulsa, Okla., and formerly of Orange City, Iowa, and Bella Vista, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, after a short battle with recurring cancer. He was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Hamilton, Mich., to the Rev. John A. and Jacquelina De Haan Roggen.
When he was a teenager, his family moved to Maurice, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. He attended Northwestern Junior College in Orange City and graduated from Hope College in Holland, Mich.
On July 5, 1944, he married Edna Mae Blom in Maurice. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific theater. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict.
He and his wife lived in Orange City, where he was a partner in Roggen and Ford Bookkeeping for many years. In 1992, they retired and moved to Bella Vista.
They moved to Tulsa in August 2003.
He was a longtime member of Trinity Reformed Church and was most recently a member of Christian Life Cathedral in Bentonville. He was active in church life, serving as an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher. He also was active in Gideons International.
Visitation was after 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City, Iowa, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Donald Lenderink and the Rev. Leon Roggen Jr. officiating. Burial was prior to the service at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International.

Roy Newton Ross
Roy Newton Ross, 73, of Rogers, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville. He was born June 14, 1930, in Taylorville, Ill., to Harry David and Nettie Mae Ealey Ross.
He married Karen Marie Frederick on Aug. 19, 1978. He was a truck driver for Matthews Transfer in Springfield, Ill., for 26 years.
He was employed with Arkansas Iron and Metal in Rogers, and with the Arkansas Highway Department for several years. He was a member of the Christian Church in Mechanicsburg, Ill., and the NAPA Cardio Corner in Pea Ridge.
He enjoyed attending auctions, fishing, gardening and caring for his farm animals and his dog, Wanda Mae.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jean Marcum; a great-grandson, Matthew Ley; five brothers; and a sister.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge. A second visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at Wilson-Park Funeral Home of Rochester, Ill. Graveside funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Roselawn Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Dorothy J. Mortensen, 4 Kensington Lane, Bella Vista, Ark. (72714); or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, Kan. (66601-1653).

Jon David Watts
Jon David Watts, 37, died Saturday, Aug. 30, in College Station, Texas. He was born Oct. 25, 1966.
He was a member of the 12th Man Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University, and was on his way to a football game when he died in an automobile wreck.
He worked at Fidelity Investments.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Doris Olbrich.
Survivors include his parents, Al and Susan Watts of Bella Vista, and Joe and Joyce Cunningham; grandfather A.P. "Block" Olbrich and wife Ruth; sister Amy Kurland her husband, Paul; niece Kaylie Kurland; uncle Dr. Gary Olbrich and his wife, Maureen; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors.
A memorial service was held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Grapevine, Texas. Inurnment was at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway, Texas.
Memorials may be made to The 12th Man Foundation at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Barbara Evelyn Williams
Barbara Evelyn Williams, 38, of Bella Vista, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville. She was born March 1, 1965, in Little Rock, to Billy O. and Sheila M. Browne Hurt.
She married John R. Williams Jr. on Sept. 28, 1991, in Little Rock. She had lived in the area for five years, moving from Little Rock.
She was a pharmacist at Harps Food Store in Bentonville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rogers.
She enjoyed working puzzles, playing bridge, cross-stitching and other crafts.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Peggy and Herbert Browne, Minnie and Willmet Hurt.
Survivors include her husband, John R. "Jackie" Williams Jr.; her parents, Billy and Sheila Hurt of Little Rock; a sister, Susan King of Bryant; a niece, Brittany King; and two nephews, Ryan Simpson and Jordan Simpson.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Callison-Lough Funeral Service chapel in Bentonville. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at First United Methodist Church of Rogers, with the Rev. Davis Thomas officiating. Burial was Thursday, Sept. 4, at Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Rogers, or to the Pulaski County Humane Society.

Blanche Irene Heathcock
Blanche Irene Heathcock, 91, of Rogers died Dec. 24, 2004. She was born Nov. 2, 1913, in Heralds Prairie Township, Ill., to the Rev. Otto Simpson Catlin and Stella Bryant Catlin.
She spent most of her life in Carmi, Ill., where she was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Carmi, before moving to Bella Vista where she continued her church service at First Baptist Church of Bella Vista. She was a Sunday school teacher and liked to play the piano and sing. She served as president of the Carmi Home Culture Circle and was the recipient of the "Woman of the Year" award.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years Robert Manley Munsey; her husband of 27 years, E. V. Heathcock; two sons, George Robert Munsey and Robert Wesley Heathcock.
Survivors include her daughter, Carmen Munsey Lehman of Rogers; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Gene Heathcock and Nancy Heathcock of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Ennis Heathcock and Sandra Heathcock of Flossmoor, Ill.; a sister, Beulah Muriel Pool of Norris City, Ill.; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Dwight Simpson Catlin and Ruth Catlin of Norris City, Ill., and Guthrie Otto Catlin and Mariam Catlin of Campbellsville, Ky.; four granddaughters; six grandsons; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her caregiver Linda Dodd of Bella Vista.
Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at First Baptist Church, Carmi, Ill., with the Rev. Glen Toler.
Burial was at Walnut Grove Cemetery in White County, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Chapel On The Creeks, P.O. Box 850, Rogers, Ark., and the First Baptist Church in Carmi, Ill.
