R. Maxine Ford
R. Maxine Ford, 84, of Bella Vista, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at her home. She was born May 14, 1918, in Frederick, Okla., to Miller and Anna Mae Bowen.
She moved to Bella Vista from Ames, Iowa, on Aug. 15, 1992. She enjoyed painting, playing the organ and playing golf.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marvelle Hogrebe.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista, with the Rev. Larry Williams and the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating.
Memorials may by made to First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista, Ark. (72714); or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Armelda Barbara Gilbert
Armelda Barbara Gilbert, 80, of Bella Vista, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at McDonald County Nursing Center in Anderson, Mo. She was born April 17, 1922, in Billings, Okla., to Oscar and Emma Falke Combrink.
She moved to Bella Vista in 1983 from Arlington Heights, Ill. She retired after 19 years as a nursery school and kindergarten teacher.
She was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church and the P.E.O.
Survivors include her husband, Edward "Ed" Gilbert; a daughter, Sheree Lynn Gilbert of Tombstone, Ariz.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Ione Combrink of Enid, Okla.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

James A. 'Jim' Guffey
James A. "Jim" Guffey, 74, of Bella Vista, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born June 21, 1928, in Centerville, Iowa, to Alfred Aldona and Anna Mae Springer Guffey.
He moved to Bella Vista in 1987 from Des Moines, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley M. Guffey, in 1991; and an infant son, James Alfred Guffey Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Guffey; a stepson, Jeff Denton and his wife, Gretchen Denton, of Ozark, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Dawn Palikij, and her husband, Rick Palikij, of Lowell; a brother and sister-in-law, John P. and Mildred Guffey of Carlilse, Iowa; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Highland Christian Church of Bella Vista with the Rev. Paul Seal officiating. Burial was at Bella Vista Cemetery.

Robert E. Hachinsky
Robert E. Hachinsky, 74, of Gentry, formerly of the Kansas City area, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Fayetteville.
He is survived by a sister, Norma Morey of Manhattan, Kan.; and three brothers, Leroy Hachinsky of Hollister, Ca., Leonard Hachinsky of Piper, Kan., and Ronald Hachinsky of Bella Vista.
His body was donated to the University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock.
Marilyn Miller Harris
Marilyn Miller Harris, 69, of Bella Vista, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at her home. She was born Oct. 28, 1933, in Ponca City, Okla., to George W. and Margaret Craddock Miller.
She was raised and educated in Ponca City. She graduated from Oklahoma University and earned a master's degree from Indiana University.
She moved to Bella Vista in 1983 from Woodburn, Ind., and retired from the Bentonville School District in 1991. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas M. Harris; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Cynthia Harris of Tulsa, Okla., and Todd Harris of Indianapolis; and a grandson, John Henry Harris.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista with the Rev. Thomas Stone officiating.

Barbara Ann Howarth
Barbara Ann Howarth, 47, of Washburn, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born March 28, 1955, in Siloam Springs, to Jimmy and Betty Jane Misner Pike.
She was a home health-care provider for many years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jane Reed.
Survivors include her husband of seven years, Gary Howarth; four sons, Robert Phillips III of Decatur, Douglas Phillips of Clifty, Paul "Pete" Phillips of Bella Vista, and Mashan Howarth of Stella, Mo.; her father, Jimmy Pike of Siloam Springs; two brothers, Bud Reed of Springfield, Mo., and Charles Reed; three sisters, Elva Madaline Yent and Linda Phillips, both of Clifty, and Betty Jean DeShields of Seneca, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.
Maxine Reece
Maxine Reece, 77, of Bella Vista, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. She was born Oct. 30, 1925, in Topeka, Kan., to John and Mary Williams Culberson.
She and her husband, Bill, were married Sept. 12, 1945 in Topeka, Kan. They moved to Joplin, Mo., in 1948, where they owned and operated Reece Auto Glass Co. until retirement in 1968.
While in Joplin, she was the pianist and organist at Oakland Christian Church.
She and her husband moved to Bella Vista in 1968, where she was active in Bella Vista Community Church. She was a former church deacon and shepherd, and a member of the bell choir.
She was involved in the Ladies' Nine-Hole Golf Association, Ladies' Bridge Club, Chit-Chat Club and quilting clubs. She also enjoyed sewing and handwork arts.
She was preceded in death by two children, Lee Owen Reece and Janis Kay Grant.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Reece; two daughters, Sharyl Barwick and husband Chuck Barwick of Bella Vista, and Sandy Coleman of Joplin; three grandchildren, Michele Sackstider of Carthage, Mo., Trenton Barwick of Webb City, Mo., and Kelsey Griffin of Suffolk, Va.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Bella Vista Community Church with the Rev. Dick Lindman officiating.
