Evangeline Baines Rust
Evangeline Baines Rust, 89, of Forestville, Calif., died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, in Forestville. She was born Dec. 23, 1911, in Bergman, to Dr. and Mrs. Swartz Baines.
She was raised in rural Arkansas and Oklahoma. She began teaching school at age 18 while attending Teacher's College (now Northeastern State University) in Tahlequah, Okla., and taught math, science and music.
In her early 50s, she returned to college to renew her teaching credentials, then taught in the Tulsa (Okla.) School District until her retirement.
After retiring, the couple enjoyed traveling and lived in several areas of the country before settling in Bella Vista. In 1999, she moved to Mirabel Lodge in Forestville to be near her daughter.
She was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed singing, reading, studying and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Max Rust, in January 1990.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Norm Hartz of Forestville; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Max and Lee Ann Rust of Tulsa; and four grandchildren, Reagan Rust of Boston, Jessica Rust and Libby Rust, both of Tulsa, and Nicole McCormack of Antelope, Calif.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Sebastopol, Calif. A memorial service will also be held in the spring in Bella Vista. Burial of her ashes will be at Bella Vista Cemetery.

Verna Scott
Verna Scott, 84, of Bella Vista, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in Bella Vista. She was born July 26, 1917, in Nora, Neb., to Earl and Anna Epley.
She received teaching credentials from Kearney (Neb.) State University and Hastings (Neb.) College, and taught in elementary schools in Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin.
She and her husband moved to Bella Vista in 1979. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, where she served on the worship, memorial and evangelism committees and was the membership secretary from 1987 until the time of her death.
She was a member of the Methodist Women, serving on the group's board for several years.
Survivors include her husband, Donald T. Scott; two daughters, Anne Scott-Currie of Montreal, Canada, and Susan Scott Lawson of Boston; a sister, Alberta Gutscher of Burr Oak, Kan.; a brother, Alvin Epley of Nora; and four granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating.
Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Bentonville.

John Styve
John Styve, 58, of Miramar, Fla., and formerly of Bella Vista, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001. He was born July 3, 1943, in St. Paul, Minn., to Orrin and Fay Styve.
Survivors include his wife, Marge Styve; a son, Jason Styve of Miramar; two daughters, Kay Fosket and Karen Fitzsimmons, both of Miramar; five grandchildren, Nathaniel Fosket, Amber Styve, Ashlee Styve, Alek Tomann and Mitchell Tomann; and many other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Lyndale Lutheran Church of Maple Plain, Minn.

Dorothy E. Walters
Dorothy E. "Frenchy" Walters, 79, of Bella Vista, and formerly of Coleman, Wis., died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at her home. She was born to David and Ethel Hutchinson Boville.
She married Ralph G. Walters on Feb. 12, 1944, in Coleman. The couple lived in Coleman and Stevens Point until their retirement to Bella Vista. She ran a craft business, "Frames by Frenchy," in Bella Vista.
Her poem, "Graduation to Glory," was published by the National Library of Poetry. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church of Bella Vista.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Caroline Johnson; a stepbrother, Kenny Shepherd; and a grandson, Jason Doemel.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph G. Walters; two sons, Jerry Walters and Jeffrey Joe Walters; three daughters, Jeanne Harper, Suzanne Doemel and Michelle Johnson; a brother, David Boville Jr.; two half-sisters, Elizabeth "Toots" Jashinsky and Darlene Perry; a half-brother, Rodney Boville; a stepsister, Evelyn Dzurick; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, with a rosary said at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at St. Bernard Catholic Church of Bella Vista.

Dayton Baldwin Jr.
Dayton Chandler Baldwin Jr., 79, of Bella Vista, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born May 12, 1922, in Waupaca, Wis., to Dayton Chandler Baldwin Sr. and Ethel Ann Van Sistine Baldwin.
He moved to Bella Vista in 1985 from Moorhead, Minn. He was a member of Bella Vista Assembly of God. He graduated from the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Merchant Marine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jayne Baldwin, on April 30, 1992. The couple was married in 1947 in Reno, Nev.
Survivors include a son, Dayton Baldwin III of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, William Baldwin of Hudson, Wis.; a sister, Mary Crist of San Dimas, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Joseph Almeida and Melissa Oakley, both of Las Vegas.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, at Bella Vista Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jack Glass.
Burial will be at Bella Vista Cemetery.
Alvina Mary Jebsen
Alvina Mary Jebsen, 95, of Bentonville, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Bentonville Manor. She was born Feb. 23, 1907, in Blue Island, Ill., to Frank and Ida Schultz Wordelman.
She was a member of United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Jebsen; seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Richard and Joyce Jebsen of Bella Vista; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista. A second memorial service will be held at a later date at First Lutheran Church in Blue Island, Ill. Burial will be at First Lutheran Church Cemetery.
