Alice Margaret Hester
Alice Margaret Hester, 91, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Nov. 10, 2005, at her home. She was born Dec. 3, 1913, in Rush Center, Kan., to Jacob Gisick and Anna Adena Popp Gisick.
She married Ted Hester on Nov. 25, 1937, in Arnold, Kan. She and her husband moved to Bella Vista in 1991. She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Sulphur Springs, Ark., where she was a head deaconess.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held Nov. 13 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leonard Lovell.
Burial was Nov. 15 at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Hutchinson, Kan.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Dorothy J. Mortensen, 4 Kensington Lane, Bella Vista, AR 72714; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Larry Lee Lamb
Larry Lee Lamb, 53, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Nov. 9, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Dec. 24, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Alva Duane Lamb and Arlene Delores Kemink Lamb.
He had operated a cement business, a construction business and a land-clearing business. He operated the Bella Vista Stables Trail Rides for 12 years.
Survivors include his parents, Al and Arlene Lamb of Bella Vista; a son, Larry Lamb II; a brother, Gary Lamb of Canton, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Cindy Farrington and Rod Farrington of Navasota, Texas; and five grandchildren, Devyn, Cavan, Brennan, Riley and Parker.
Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at the United Methodist Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. David Flemming and the Rev. Wayne Bartruff.
Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Catherine Elizabeth May
Catherine Elizabeth May, 81, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Nov. 6, 2005, at Windcrest Health and Rehab Inc. in Springdale, Ark. She was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Tulsa, Okla., to Hugh Stanton Berry and Bessie Mae Simpson Berry.
She married Eugene Balyss "E.B." May on May 9, 1942, in Pawhuska, Okla. She worked at the local newspaper for 3 1/2 years. She was employed as an accountant for the Chevrolet dealer in Pawhuska and later for Oakley Pontiac-Buick in Bartlesville, Okla. She and her husband moved to Bella Vista in 1977. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista.
Survivors include her husband, E.B. May of Bella Vista; a son, Barry Kent "Stretch" May of Hanna, Okla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl Annette Martin and James D. Martin of Lawton, Okla., and Cathy Sue May of Edmond, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Nov. 10 at the First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista.
Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Martha Jane Rose
Martha Jane Rose, 91, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Nov. 9, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark. She was born on June 16, 1914, in Ursina, Penn., to James Franklin Koontz and Nancy (Mathews) Koontz.
She received her education at the Ursina and Confluence, Penn., public schools. She graduated from the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Dayton, Ohio, in 1935 and was licensed as a registered nurse the same year. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Rose in 1937.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Rose on Jan. 10, 2004.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William Donald Rose and Carolyn Rose of Dallas, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Kathryn Harling and John Harling of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Bella Vista Community Church with the Reverend Richard Lindman. Cremation will be by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Arthur Richard Seele
Arthur Richard Seele, 80, of Monument, Kan., and Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, in a Denver, Colo., hospital. He was born May 27, 1925, in Logan County, Kan., near Russell Springs.
He attended school in Logan County until his parents relocated to their farm, south of Page City, Kan., for his senior year. He graduated from high school in 1943. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the European Theater in the 3rd Army under Gen. George Patton's 90th Infantry Division. He was discharged from the Army in 1946. He attended the National Trade School in Kansas City, Mo., becoming an electrician. He wired many homes and farmsteads when rural electricity was new to northwest Kansas.
He was a member of the Colby (Kan.) United Methodist Church; Masonic Lodge No. 318 of Wallace, Kan., Chapter and Commandery; the Red Cross of Constadine; the Isis Temple of Salina, Kan.; and Elks Lodge No. 1528 of Goodland, Kan. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served on the Thomas County ASCS Committee for nine years and was head of the Thomas County Election Board for several terms. He was a Grand Lodge Officer of Kansas in 1980, a past patron of the Colby Order of the Eastern Star No. 442 and a 4-H Club leader.
He and his wife spent winters in Bella Vista, where he played golf and the couple enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and playing bridge. He volunteered with Helping Hands in Bentonville, Ark.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Kough; a brother-in-law, Blair Kough; and a son-in-law, Stanley Sims.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Darlene Seele; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Sims of Belton, Mo., and Nancy Kuhlman and Larry Kuhlman of Oakley, Kan.; two grandsons, Todd Kuhlman of Oakley and Tony Kuhlman of Monument; and four great-grandchildren, Kassandra Kuhlman, Andrea Kuhlman, Jamie Kuhlman and Craig Kuhlman.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Colby United Methodist Church in Colby, Kan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Colby United Methodist Church or to the Masonic Foundation.
Jean Louise Shaeffer
Jean Louise Shaeffer, 85, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Nov. 1, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers, Ark., after a long illness. She was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Virgil Benjamin Curtis and Laura Altha Whalen Henderson Curtis.
She was raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She married pharmacist John Winters Shaeffer on Sept. 3, 1938, in Des Moines. She was a seamstress, a caregiver, a homemaker and a part-time clerk at Shaeffer Drug Co. The couple retired in the early 1970s and moved to Bella Vista, where both became avid golfers and bridge players.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Winters Shaeffer, in 2003; a daughter, Joan Winters Wittry, in 1993; and a sister, Betty Andreen.
Survivors include a daughter, Jill Curtis Shaeffer of Des Moines, Iowa, and Bella Vista; a granddaughter, Jill Renee Wittry of Bentonville, Ark.; and a grandson of Florida.
No services are planned, per her wishes.
