Dr. John Parker Spurlin
BERRYVILLE -- Dr. John Parker Spurlin, 62, of Berryville died July 11, 2003, in St. John's Regional Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was born April 1, 1941, in Louisville, Ky., to Dr. Robert Parker and Mary Elizabeth Meyer Spurlin.
He was a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University and the University of Missouri School of Dentistry in Kansas City. He was united in marriage to Sharon Jo Clingan on Sept. 2, 1962. He was a member of Berryville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Sara Elizabeth Spurlin, a nephew, Robert Stephen Spurlin and his father-in-law, J.A. Clingan.
Dr. Spurlin is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, of the home; a son, John Frank Spurlin of Berryville; a daughter and her husband, Mary Elizabeth and Charles Phillip Springer of Lima, Peru; a brother and his wife, Dr. Robert Meyer and Louise Spurlin of Berryville; a sister and her husband, Marilyn Elizabeth and Dr. John Holland of Rogers; two grandchildren, Taylor Elise and Sarah Parker Springer; nieces and nephews, Carrie Elizabeth Dawes, Matthew John Holland, Mark Robert Holland and Laura Louise Clynch and Sara and Kyle Clingan; his mother-in-law, Mary E. Clingan of Springfield; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kevin and Susan Clingan of Springfield and a very dedicated and caring office staff and host of wonderful friends.
Memorial services will be at a later date in Berryville. It was John's wish that memorial contributions be made to the church or charity of your choice or to the Berryville United Methodist Church Stained Glass Window Fund.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home of Springfield.
Paul R. Fulfer
SPRINGDALE -- Paul R. Fulfer of Springdale died July 11, 2003, in Lee's Summit, Mo. Arrangements are to be announced by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale.
Leota Mae Eastep
ROGERS -- Leota Mae Eastep, 99, of Rogers died July 11, 2003, in Rogers. She was born March 1, 1904, in Kingston to Virgil Albert and Mary Jane Parker Bowen. She had lived in Benton County most of her life and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. She was a retired cook for The Corner Cafe and enjoyed piecing quilt tops and crocheting. She was preceded in death by Enmon Lee Eastep, to whom she was married Sept. 29, 1935.
Survivors include one sister, Audry Oxford of Madison County, and by several nieces and nephews, including Ola Mae Sherry of Rogers and Doyle Sherry and wife Carolyn, also of Rogers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel in Rogers with Michael Sherry officiating. Burial will be in Rambo Cemetery.
Family and friends are to gather from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Edward G. Roberts
FAYETTEVILLE -- Edward G. Roberts, 75, of Fayetteville died July 11, 2003, in Fayetteville. He was retired from the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Roberts of Fayetteville; two daughters, Sharon Pote of Booneville and Glenna Hedegard of Fayetteville; two sisters, Patricia Bolling of Dallas, Texas, and Nora Madison of Howe, Texas; three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

Jacob Matthew Evans
GREENWOOD -- Jacob Matthew Evans, 6, of Green wood died July 10, 2003, at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. He was born Nov. 7, 1996, in Pine Bluff to Chad E. and Jana L. Bolling Evans. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Gracie Bolling.
Survivors include his parents; one brother, Noah; grandparents, Gene and Bonnie Evans of Bentonville and Jerry and Delores Bolling; great-grandmothers, Mildred Evans of Carnegie, Okla., and Onedos Bradley Massey of Anadarko, Okla.; three aunts, three uncles and six cousins.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Bentonville with the Rev. John Swadley officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Bentonville. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, 800 Marshall St., Little Rock, 72201, and to Bost Inc. of Fort Smith.
Elaine Plant
FAYETTEVILLE -- Elaine Plant, 82, of Springdale died July 12, 2003, at Fayetteville Health and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be announced later by Sisco Chapel in Springdale.
Helen Ulland
BELLA VISTA -- Helen Ulland, 78, of Bella Vista died July 11, 2003, at her home. She was born March 21, 1925, in Coffeyville, Kan., to Swan Lewis and Floy Williams Highbaugh. She graduated in 1946 from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., and taught school in Portland, Ore., where she retired in 1981 and moved to Bella Vista. She was a member of the Lovely Purchase Chapter of the DAR, a charter member and first president of the Bella Vista Decorative Artists and a Stephen minister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy E. Ulland.
Survivors include one nephew, Ray Ulland, and his wife, Linda, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; two cousins, Elzene Yancey of Mt. View, Calif., and Edison Kaderly of Lamar, Mo.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista.
Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kan. under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Bentonville.
Memorials may be made to the United Lutheran Church parish nurse program or charity of choice.
Patrick Duane Boyd
BELLA VISTA -- Patrick Duane Boyd, 48, of Bella Vista died July 10, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born Feb. 10, 1955, at Montebello, Calif., to Byron "Barney" Andrew Boyd Sr. and Norma Ruth Ritter Boyd. He was employed as a milk processor in Pasadena, Calif., for many years. He moved to Bella Vista in 2001. He enjoyed camping and dirt bikes. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his mother, Norma Boyd of Bella Vista; one son, Patrick Duane Boyd Jr. of Fontana, Calif.; one sister, Susan R. Olsen of Chehalis, Wash.; four brothers, Terry L. Boyd of Quartz Hill, Calif.; Byron Andrew "Barney" Boyd Jr. of Anderson, Mo., Dennis A. Boyd of Rosamond, Calif., and Raymond H. Boyd of Bentonville; one grandchild; two step–grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge with Don Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Pea Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
