Arkansas, Marriage Certificates, 1917-1972

Lucille Mae DeMott
Lucille Mae DeMott, 87, of Bella Vista, Ark. died Dec. 4, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County. She was born on May 4, 1917 in Pickering, Mo. to Harry & Mamie (Wray) Lett.
Her husband Albert DeMott died Nov. 8, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Lett, and two sisters, Marjorie DeMott and Katie Milne.
She is survived by two sons: Lanny DeMott and wife Janet of Bedford, Iowa, Steve DeMott and wife Karen of Hot Springs, Ark.; one daughter, Suzanne Webb and husband Robert of Bella Vista, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Dec. 7, 2004 in the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, with the Rev. Wayne L. Bartruff and Rev. Verle Shoemaker officiating. Graveside services were held Dec. 8, 2004 in the Hopkins City Cemetery in Hopkins, Mo. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Benton County Sunshine School, 2309 Moberly Lane, Bentonville, Ark., 72712, or charity of donor's choice.

Albert Eugene Sager
Albert Eugene Sager, 96, of Bentonville, Ark., died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Bentonville. He was born Oct. 27, 1908, in LaVeta, Colo., to Albert Edward and Marquareta Emma Davis Sager.
He was a certified public accountant. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church and was involved with the American Legion. He was an avid gardener.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service was held Dec. 13 at the Bella Vista Community Church in Bella Vista, Ark.
Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Bentonville.
Memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Community Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Domicella 'Dottie' E. Hayes
Domicella "Dottie" E. Hayes, 77, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Dec. 8, 2004, at her home. She was born Dec. 13, 1926, in East Chicago, Ind., to Benedict Joseph Rockley and Delma Rosalie Surblis Rockley.
She was a retired registered nurse. She and her husband, William Hayes, moved to Bella Vista in 1984 from McHenry, Ill.
She was preceded in death by twin infant brothers.
Survivors include her husband, William Hammond Hayes; a son, Michael Hayes of Cape Coral, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Mondl and Michael Mondl of Bella Vista, and Janette Sands and Gordie Sands of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Benedicta Skrundz of Shererville, Ind.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Dec. 11 at the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista with Edie Skalitzky.
Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arkansas Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranch, P.O. Box 3964, Batesville, Ark. 72503; to the American Cancer Society, in care of Dorothy J. Mortensen, 4 Kensington Lane, Bella Vista, Ark. 72714; or to Circle of Life Hospice, 610 E. Emma Ave., Springdale, Ark. 72764.

Sharon Joyce Slate
She worked for the Oklahoma City Jail; Cleveland County; Benton County, Ark.; and the Arkansas State Police. She started Central Communications for Benton County and worked for PMDC of Wal-Mart for more than seven years. She was a perpetual member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Harmony Chapter in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Troy Lee Melton; a brother-in-law, William Farris; and a grandson, Waylon Eugene Richardson.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Glen D. Slate; a son, Jeff Richardson of Bella Vista; a daughter and son-in-law, Shari Hicks and R. Michael Hicks of Shady Point, Okla.; two sisters, June Farris and Diana Houck, both of Mustang, Okla.; two grandchildren, Christopher Ingram and Desiree Morgan; a great-grandchild, Dylan Morgan; two stepsons, Mike Slate of Rogers, Ark., and Kevin Slate of Bella Vista; and a stepdaughter, Kelly McClellan of Oklahoma City.
Funeral services were held Dec. 8 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, Kan. 66601-1653.

Evelyn Sue Smith
Evelyn Sue Smith, 74, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at her home in Bella Vista. She was born on April 15, 1930, in Gentry to George E. and Maxine Jenks Miller Londigan.
Smith attended school in Gentry and Decatur. She moved to Bella Vista in 1994. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hiwasse, Ark., where she was very active.
She was a caregiver most of her life. Hobbies were sewing, quilt making and loving children. She was a member of W.M.U. Her motto was "happiness is a choice."
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, George Londigan; and one sister, Linda K. Richardson.
Survivors include her husband, Charles N. Smith of Bella Vista; one son, Mark Smith and wife, Debbie, of Bella Vista; two sisters, Charlene Sue Thompson and husband, Dennis, of Roswell, Ga., and Gloria Jean Brickner and husband, Robert, of Kingsville, Mo.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nephews and cousins.
A funeral service was held Dec. 13 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Daniel officiating.
Burial was at the Falling Springs Cemetery in West Decatur, Ark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 1211, Bentonville, Ark. 72712, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Dorothy J. Mortenson, 4 Kensington Lane, Bella Vista, Ark. 72714.

John Henry Bokma
John Henry Bokma, 90, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Oct. 3, 2005, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. He was born July 24, 1915, in Chicago to John Bokma and Ella Bokma.
He served in the U.S. Army for five years in the Pacific area. He was employed as a product engineer with International Harvester Co. for 45 years. He had lived in Bella Vista for 23 years. He was a member of St. Theodore's Episcopal Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed golf and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gene Bokma; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald Bokma of Bella Vista, and Richard Bokma and Debra Bokma of Valparaiso, Ind.; a niece, Debra Cembala and her husband Henry Cembala of Oak Forest, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Erick Bokma and Laura Bokma, both of Valparaiso.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 15, at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Ken Parks.
Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Theodore's Episcopal Church, 1001 Kingsland Road, Bella Vista, AR 72714; or to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 5248, Bella Vista, AR 72714.
