Bettie Marx
BENTONVILLE -- Bettie Marx, 73, of Bentonville died Oct. 2, 2003, in a local health facility. She was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Mexico, Mo., to Percy and Norene Jackson Couch. She was the office manager for John's Carpets in Denver, Colo. She enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was a Methodist. She moved to Bentonville in 1999 from Denver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marx, and a son, Paul Eubanks.
Survivors include one son, Michael Eubank of Longview, Texas; one daughter, Judy Miller of Rogers, one brother, Jack Couch of Moberly, Mo.; one sister, Leola Wellman of Palmyra, Mo.; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
There will be no service. Cremation will be by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Bettie Marx.
Bertha Marie Bush
BENTONVILLE -- Bertha Marie Bush, 87, of Bentonville died Oct. 3, 2003, in Bentonville. She was born Feb. 14, 1917, in Wiseman to Texas Thomas Kent and May Wiseman. She was the owner and manager of Bush's Shoe Store in Bentonville for 25 years. She was a member of the Bentonville Church of Christ. She moved to Bentonville from Pea Ridge in 1947.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; one son, Drexell Davis of Bentonville; one daughter, Shirley Folks of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Shirley Davis of Bentonville; four grandchildren; one step-grandson; one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bentonville Church of Christ with Dean Bryce officiating. Burial will be in the Bentonville City Cemetery.

Rev. Curtis Alvin Lantz
BELLA VISTA -- Rev. Curis Alvin Lantz, 46, of Bella Vista died Oct. 3, 2003, at his home. He was born Sept. 6, 1957, in Salina, Kan. to Ivan and Merle Wright Lantz. He was reared and educated in Topeka, Kan. He was an Eagle Scout. He received degrees in building construction in 1979 and Biblical studies in 1981 from John Brown University. He married Debra Wadleigh in June, 1978. He graduated from St. Joseph's Seminary in Berkeley, Calif. in 1986. He served in Anglican churches throughout the Midwest and South. He moved to Bella Vista in 1992 and worked in construction. He owned and operated The Hand Built House.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his parents of Bella Vista; two sons, Dominic A. A. Lantz of Bella Vista, Alexander S.B. Lantz of Bella Vista; one daughter, Nyssa E.A. Lantz of Bella Vista; one brother, Greg Lantz of Bella Vista.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Presley Hutchens, the Rev. Todd Jones and the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Bella Vista Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Willie Free Sr.
SPRINGDALE -- Willie Free Sr., 76, of Springdale died Oct. 2, 2003, at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1927, in Hillman, Arkansas, to Oscar and Rose Free. He was a lifetime farmer in Hunter, Arkansas, where he raised his family. His favorite past times were fishing, visiting with anyone that would listen, listening to gospel music sung by Hope Duplaniti, Becky and Stacy Sanders' "Gone But Not Forgotten." He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1946. He was a member of the Freedom Full Gospel Church of Springdale.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Peggy Free and Glenda Free; one son, Kenny Free; one grandson, Gregory Dean; one great-grandson, Tyler Dean.
Survivors include five sons, Eddie Free and wife Kayla of Springdale, Willie Woodroe Free Jr. and wife Shannon of Prairie Grove, Steve Free and wife Brenda of Siloam Springs, and Henry Free of Siloam Springs; five daughters, Linda Hopgood and husband Donnie of Springdale, Glenda Fisher and husband Jesse of Brinkley, Reba Free of Jacksonville, Fla., Ann Williams and husband David of Lonoke, and Pam Centeno and husband Alfredo of Fayetteville; one brother, Lee Coleman of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Jan Davis of Orlando; 24 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Jimmy Collins and the Rev. Evelyn Dotson officiating. Burial will be in the Dowell Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. --Paid

PEA RIDGE -- Evelyn A. Garey, 84, of Pea Ridge died Oct. 2, 2003, at her home. She was born Sept. 28, 1919. in Springfield, Pa., to Charles and Ada Smith Eliassen. She loved flowers and worked at Ray's Flowers in the greenhouse for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry A. Garey in 1973; two sisters, Virginia Nauman, and Ethel Hinkel; three brothers, Robert Eliassen, Charles Eliassen, and Edward Eliassen.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Williams of Pea Ridge, Wendy Arellano of Springdale; two brothers, Lester Miller of Kintersville, Pa., Bill Miller of Roubsville, Pa.; three sisters, Ada Haney of Tannersville, Pa., Esther Kichline of West Fork, and June Redfern of Easton, Pa.; five granddaughters, one grandson, two great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parks Cemetery in Winslow with Pamela Cicione officiating. There will be no visitation.

Ina Ruth Ketcher
SILOAM SPRINGS -- Ina Ruth Ketcher, 75, of Siloam Springs died Oct. 3, 2003, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Erick, Okla., to James and Katie Lawson Polk. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Kenwood Missionary Baptist Church in Siloam Springs. She moved to Siloam Springs 30 years ago from California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Ketcher.
Survivors include two sons, Doug Ketcher of Siloam Springs and Ron Ketcher of Watts, Okla.; one sister, Mary Rudy of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Richard Polk of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bell Cemetery in Watts, Okla. with the Rev. Ronnie Bradshaw officiating.

BELLA VISTA -- Carol A. Cobb, 67, of Bella Vista died Oct. 3, 2003, at her home. She was born Feb. 18, 1936, in Winona, Minn., to Frank H. Kling Sr. and Eleanor E. Howe King. She spent most of her adult life in Milwaukee, Wis. She married Charles "Chuck" Cobb in Waukegan, Ill., on Oct. 6, 1956. She was a homemaker and an Avon representative for 30 years.
Survivors include her husband of Bella Vista; one daughter, Kathleen Frizzelle and husband Dean of Oak Creek, Wis.; one son, Kenneth Cobb and wife Susan of Brookfield, Wis.; one sister, Betty Seidl of Eagle Rock, Mo.; one brother, Frank Kling of Milwaukee, Wis.; four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista with the Rev. James E. Still and the Rev. Tracy Evans officiating.

William 'Bill' Hubert DeWerff
BELLA VISTA -- William "Bill" Hubert DeWerff, 71, of Bella Vista died Oct. 3, 2003, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville. He was born March 13, 1932, in Mayfield, Ky., to Virgil Henry and Dorothy E. Smith DeWerff. He was reared and educated in Moro, Ill. He graduated from Woodriver High School in Woodriver, Ill. He worked as an apprentice brick mason. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He married Marcitias Albright on March 20, 1954 in Cottage Hills, Ill. He moved to the Florida Keys in 1959 where he owned and operated DeWerff Construction. He moved to Bella Vista in 1992.
Survivors include his wife of Bella Vista; two daughters, Susan Panzarino and husband Frank of Melbourne Beach, Fla. and Linda Jade Wheeler and husband Roy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; mother-in-law, Elie Albright of St. Petersburg; three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory with Verlin Alderton officiating.
