He was a member of Van Buren Church of Christ, a World War II Air Force veteran and retired from Hughes Tool Co. Survivors include his wife, Pat; one daughter, Cindy Osborn of Van Buren; one son, Max Roberts of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren Nathan, Ross, Brooke and Rex; two step-grandchildren, Nicole and Jessica; one great-grandchild, Ashtin. Memorial service was held Oct. 23 at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel of Alma. The body was cremated under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. Elaine Davis Elaine Davis, 62, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001. She was a quality control worker for Simmons Foods in Van Buren. Survivors include her husband, Charles Davis; one daughter Kayla and husband Billy Hill of Van Buren; one son, Chuck Davis Jr. of the home; three brothers, Kenneth Rhinehart of Hawkins, Texas, Donnie Rhinehart of El Dorado, Texas, and Charles Rhinehart of College Station, Texas; and two grandsons, Carl Hill and Sean Hill, both of Van Buren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body was cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. Minnie Bascue Minnie Bascue, 88, of Mulberry died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at a local nursing home. She was a member of Alma Full Gospel Outreach Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Bascue. Survivors include five sons, Marion Bascue of Mulberry, Bob Bascue of California, David W. Bascue of Ozark, Johnny Allen Bascue of Huntington and Billy Jack Bascue of Midland; one sister, Allie Ruth Collins of Fort Smith; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Oct. 18 at Alma Full Gospel Outreach Church. Burial was held at New Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. Pallbearers were Sam Bascue, Matt Bascue, Jamie Bascue, Warren Bascue, Robert Bascue and David Bascue Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Householder, Eddie Cook, Richard Taylor, Marion Michael Bascue, Robert Douglas Bascue and Keith Gillett. Elizabeth Scott Elizabeth Nelle Scott, 73, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Fort Smith Public School system and a member of Oak Cliff Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Ralph Woods Scott; two daughters, Connie P. Stewart of Barling and Lynn Scott of Fort Smith; three sons, Alan R. Scott of Fort Smith, Keith F. Scott of Van Buren and David R. Scott of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Doris Clyma of Van Buren and Jean Morris of Fort Smith; numerous nieces and nephews, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Oct. 18 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction o Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. Pallbearers were Don Campbell, Dennis Allen, Kevin Allen, Allen Smith, Kirby Smith and Eric Scott. Honorary pallbearers were Dow Scott, Carl Gross, Byron Richardson and Art Pollock. Velta Schuster Velta Louise Schuster, 65, of Dora died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and member of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include one stepdaughter, Margie Vaughn of Muldrow; one son, Jimmy Schuster of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two grandchildren, Brandon Schuster of Van Buren and Cody Schuster of Las Vegas. Graveside service was held Oct. 18 at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
