Gertrude Loth
Gertrude L. Loth, 95, of Van Buren died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at her home.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Van Buren, retired tavern owner and widow of Raymond Loth.
Survivors include two grandsons, Rear Admiral Greg Slavonic, USNR, Oklahoma City, and Gary Slavonic of Carrollton, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Corey and Danielle Slavonic, both of Carrollton, and Kara, Maggie and Blake Slavonic, all of Oklahoma City.
Rosary was held April 15 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Mass was April 16 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with burial was U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Steve and Hal Weigel, Corey and Blake Slavonic, Ted Novak and Charles Nichols.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church in Van Buren.

Janice Matheny
Janice C. Matheny, 68, of Rudy died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at her home.
She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and graduated college with a degree in education.
She taught school, sold real estate, was a lay chaplain, attended LPN nursing school and graduated in 2000 as a message therapist.
Survivors include her husband, C.J. Metheny; one daughter, Carol Tommey of Tulsa; one son, Martin Matheny of Rudy; and six grandchildren, David, Brent, and Summer Skye Matheny, all of Rudy, and Stephen, Autumn and Samantha Toomey, all of Tulsa.
A private service will be held at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward or Sparks Hospice and the Care Team at St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

James McClelland
James B. McClelland, 43, of Oakland, Calif., died Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Oakland.
He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1975 and Arkansas Tech in 1985 and was an assistant manager in banking.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, William and Glenda McClelland of Van Buren; two sisters, Joyce Watson and Jean Snow, both of Van Buren; two step-sisters, Leigh Ann Newman of Fort Smith and Terri Foley of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and two brothers, Joe McClelland and Bryant McClelland, both of Van Buren.
Graveside service was held April 16 at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.

Jabe Pierce
Jabe J.B. Pierce, 80, of Fort Smith died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at his home.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired truck driver for Eastern tank.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Pierce; one son, Gary Pierce of Tulsa; one stepson, Jerry France of Van Buren; one sister, Pauline Pierce Wilson of Fayetteville; one brother, Gene Pierce of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside service was held April 16 at Vaught Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
