Lucy Burt
Lucy Jean Burt, 78, of Van Buren died Monday, April 2, 2001, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and member of Oak Park Baptist Church in Irving, Texas.
Survivors include one daughter, JoAnn Comstock of Van Buren; one son, David Liles of Balch Springs, Texas; two grandchildren, Kevin and Shawn Comstock of Van Buren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held April 7 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, Okla., under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Trenton Lord
Trenton Lane McMillan Lord, 3, of Van Buren died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at a local hospital.
Survivors include his father, Ralph Lord of Van Buren; mother, Kim McMillian of Waldron; maternal grandparents, Carol and Randall French of Waldron; paternal grandparents, Pauline Nickerson of Fort Smith and Ralph Lord II of Barling; maternal great-grandparents, William and Helen Terry and Betty and Hershel Simpson, all of Spiro; paternal great-grandmother, Evelyn Jones of Muldrow; and one brother, Dylan McMillian Lord of the home.
Funeral service was held April 7 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Randall French II, Dustin Clark, Brian Simpson and Joshua Barnes.
Anna B. Stephens
Anna B. Stephens, 90, of Van Buren died Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Forrest City. She was a member of the Van Buren First Baptist Church where she served on many committees and was a longtime Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the National Teachers Association and Arkansas Teachers Association and retired after 26 years as director of the Van Buren School District food service program. She was a life member of the Parents Teachers Association, honor of the Grand Cross of Colors from the Rainbow Girls, past matron of the Order of Eastern Star and widow of Burrell Stephens.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty E. Beazley of Forrest City; one son, David A. Stephens of Manchester, Mo.; two sisters, Evora James Bates and Pauline Dean, both of Van Buren; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held April 7 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Earl Robinson, Richard Biggerstaff, Jim Dick Tate, Tom Fowler and Lindy Cotner.
Edward Brewer
The Rev. Edward Franklin Brewer, 76, of Kodak, Tenn., died Sunday, March 25, 2001. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church in Kodak.
Survivors include his wife, Florris Willeford Brewer; two sons, Logan Brewer and Lawrence Brewer, both of Illinois; three daughters, Loretta Slavik and Laura Borvan, both of Illinois, and Linda Brewer of Kodak; two sisters, Jane Morse and Wanda Peterman, both of Alma; and five grandchildren.
Funeral service was held March 27 at Beech Springs Baptist Church in Kodak. Burial was at Smokey Mountain Memory Garden.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
Bessie Kincy
Bessie Nora Kincy, 96, of Dyer died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at a local nursing home. She was retired from Alma Canning Co., member of New Bethel Assembly of God Church in Dyer and widow of Ellis Kincy.
Survivors include three daughters, Loretta Faulkner and Geneva Brannam, both of Fort Smith, and Elsie Gifford of Alma; two sons, Truman Kincy of Arvin, Calif., and Tom F. Kincy of Dyer; one sister, Clara Stanfield of Saratoga, Calif.; 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held April 10 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Alma. Burial was at Dyer City Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
