Linda Stringer
Linda Stringer, 59, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie Don Stringer; three daughters, Debra Sue Stringer and Soundra Renee Brown, both of Van Buren, and Bernita Joan Huntley of Seneca, Mo.; five sons, Jimmy Don Stringer of Mulberry, Anthony Paul Stringer of Van Buren, Jimmy Lynn Stringer of Fort Smith, Bradley Dean Smith of Waldron and Brandon DeWayne Massingale of Dallas; three sisters, Joan Loyd of Van Buren, June Blackford of Fort Smith and Tawie Smith of Roland; one brother, Jim Hamlet of Van Buren; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held June 15 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was held at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Jim Hamlet, Grover Blackford, David Stringer, David Neal, Harold Smith and Bryan Stringer.
Vincent Kiely Jr.
Vincent Thomas Kiely Jr., 50, of Mountainburg died Friday, June 8, 2001. He was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his former wife, Carole Ann Kiely of Winslow; one daughter, Melissa Sue Jackson of Winslow; two sons, Joshua William Kiely and Jacob Levi Kiely, both of Winslow; his mother, Mary Walsuk of Ozark; one brother, Michael David Kiely of Alma; and four grandchildren.
The body was cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Marvin Shelton
Marvin Shelton, 79, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a member of Evangel Temple Church, retired from BF Goodrich and Galloway Tire Company and an Army veteran of World War II.
He was honored by congressman Asa Hutchinson in 1998 for his participation in five major battles including the D-day invasion of Normandy. He was awarded six medals including the Silver Star.
Survivors include his wife, the former Martha Ann Muck of Van Buren; one daughter, Marilyn Rogers of Fort Smith; two stepdaughters Sunny Brasuell of Fort Smith and Marie Cagle of Alma; four brothers, Raymond Shelton of Tulsa, Bennie Shelton of El Dorado, James Shelton of Bonanza and Larry Shelton of Texas; two sisters, Marie Bowden and Doris Rist, both of Tulsa; one grandson, Stacey Rogers of Fort Smith; six step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held June 15 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. Burial was held at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Stacey Paul Rogers, Dale Brasuell Jr., Toney Brasuell, Tracy Brasuell and Bill Morgan.
Olen Kincy
Olen Kincy, 94, of Dyer died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at a local nursing home. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired carpenter and attended Dyer Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Joe Kincy of Dyer; five sisters, Minnie, Pauline and Bessie Mae of California, Hazel of Oklahoma and Alvia of Missouri; one brother, Claud Kincy of California; three grandchildren, Deborah Stephens of Van Buren, Kim Kincy of Alma and Dr. Tammy Jo Cain of Frisco, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Christi Smith of Mulberry, Adam Cain and Rachel Cain, both of Frisco and Mary Kincy of Russellville; and one great-great-granddaughter, Meagan Smith of Mulberry.
Funeral service was held June 16 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Joe Lee Beckham, Morel Gregory, Pavy Gregory, Troy Gregory, Bill Coulter, Billy Joe Adams and Billy Gayle Morse.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Remy Lodges 487 and 260.
Memorial contributions may be made to Remy Lodge No. 487 in Mulberry.
George Parker Jr.
George J. Parker Jr., 84, of Van Buren died Wednesday, June 13, 2001. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a retired self-employed roofer, former worker for Monte McDermit and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose, Eagles and AMVETS. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaDonna Parker.
Survivors include, two daughters, Shenna M. “Mike” Hamilton of Poneto, Ind. and LaDonna N. Brasuell of Van Buren; two sons, George M. “Montie” Parker and Steven Jae Parker, both of Fort Smith; 10 grandchildren; 20 step grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 9 step great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held June 16 at Keplinger Funeral Home Chapel in Hartford City, Ind. Burial was at Hartford City Cemetery under the direction of Keplinger Funeral Home.
