Ruben Freeman
Ruben Freeman, 60, of Alma died Sunday, June 3, 2001. He attended the Mulberry Assembly of God Church, was a retired utility worker at Van Buren Canning Company, a retired farmer and a lifelong resident of Crawford County.
Survivors include two daughters, Wendy Freeman of Moore, Okla., and Vickie Freeman of Arkansas; three sisters, Rosie Lee Schmitt of Greensburg, Kan., Ruth Lindsey Ellison of Fort Smith and Betty Davis of Keota, Okla.; three brothers, Edward Freeman Jr. of Ada, Okla., Joe Freeman of Fort Smith and Robert Freeman of Alma; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service was held June 6 at Edwards Van泡lma Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Love Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van泡lma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were David Freeman, Idus Evans, Eugene Davis, Gary Daniels, Hubert Staggs, Jesse Lindsey and Theodore Lindsey.
Atta Merritt
Atta Faye Merritt, 79, of Van Buren died Friday, June 1, 2001, at a local nursing home. She was a retired hostess with the Betsy Ross Restaurants in Montclair, Calif.
Survivors include her son Paul G. Perrier of Van Buren; one brother, Allen Hall of Bakersfield, Calif., two grandchildren, Paul Brian Perrier of Sanger, Texas and Bradley Gene Perrier of Van Buren; and six grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, Calif., under the direction of Edwards Van泡lma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Lona Williams
Lona Katherine Williams, 89, of Van Buren died Friday, June 1, 2001, at a local nursing home. She was a retired salesperson of the Singer sewing machine company, a long-time resident of Fort Smith and a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Williams.
Survivors include one sister, Margaret Pulley of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Bill Porter and Glen Porter, both of Fort Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was held June 4 at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Garry Miller
Garry Allan Miller, 52, of Lockwood, Mo., died Friday, June 1, 2001, at a Springfield, Mo., hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; one daughter, Tracy Banks; two grandchildren, Jessica and Zachary Banks of Van Buren; his mother, Maxine Miller of Lockwood, Mo.; his grandmother, Opal Haubein of Lockwood, Mo.; two sisters, Carol Jo Pyle of Lamar, Mo., and Sharon Moore of Dallas; and five nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held June 4 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Lockwood, Mo.
Inez Harrison
Inez Symonds Harrison, 83, of Rudy died Sunday, June 3, 2001. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Hobert Harrison; one daughter, Edith Strickland of Alma; one son, Eddie Symonds of Rudy; one sister, Imogene Wells of Van Buren; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held June 6 at Oliver Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Johnny Wells, Gerald Koeth, Andy Pope, Tommy Wiley, Buck Strickland and Paul Walters.
