Henry Nicolas
Henry G. Nicholas, 58, of Elsmere, Ky., died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Florence, Ky. He was a former employee of Benjamin Hey Company in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Survivors include his companion, Stanley Reis of Elsmere, Ky.; two brothers, Charles Nicholas of San Pablo, Calif., and William Nicholas of San Antonio, Texas; one niece, Pam Rose of Waldron; four nephews, Jeffery Neill and William Neill, both of Fort Smith, Richard Neill of Poteau, Okla., and Jason Neill of Waldron.
Graveside service was held Jan. 25 at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Ora Lewis
Ora Lewis, 94, of Alma died Jan. 24, 2002, in her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Lewis; a daughter, Mary Louise Lewis; and a son, Russell Farrell Lewis.
Survivors include one daughter, Freda Mae Smith of Alma; four grandchildren, Sheryl Ann Dotson of Van Alstine, Texas, Douglas Keith Smith of Alma, Karen Elaine Lewis and Russell Dewayne Lewis, both of San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be held at Newberry Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
LeRoy Harris
LeRoy Harris, 82, of Van Buren died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at a local hospital. He was a member of Church of God (Seventh Day) and was a retired truck driver for Allen Canning Co. in Van Buren.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; a daughter, Peggy Harris of Van Buren; three sons, Dennis Harris of Van Buren, Gary Harris of Rogers and Larry Harris of Pocola; two sisters, Elsie Cone and Myrtle Carr, both of Merced, Calif.; two brothers, Ralph Johnson of Merced, Calif., and Bill Johnson of Mount Ida; six grandchildren, Eric Harris, Shelley Kolb, Daren Harris, Aaron Harris, Marla Harris and James Harris; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held May 28 at Gill Cemetery Pavilion under the direction of Edward Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Eric, Daren, Aaron and James Harris and James Kolb.
Althea Dorsey
Althea Dorsey, 88, of Alma died Friday, May 24, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Claude.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary LaRue of Alma and Kitty Dorsey of Georgetown, Texas; three sons, Claude Lyndon Dorsey of Concord, Calif., Wayne Alan Dorsey of Fort Smith and Glen Harris Dorsey, Olathe, Kan.; one brother, Elroy E. Harris of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren, Hope Cook, Daniel, Jonathan and William Morris, Stephanie Dorsey-Grimm and Angela Dorsey; and three great-grandchildren, Maggie Dorsey-Grimm and Bethany and Isabella Cook.
Graveside service was held May 28, at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Daniel, Jonathan and William Morris, LeRoy Cook and Paul Lampack.
Doyle Lankford
Doyle Lankford, 82, of Van Buren died Friday, May 24, 2002, at a local hospital. He was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad and was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Survivors include his wife, Macie Jo; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Lloyd Evans, Lonnie Evans, Jim Evans, Tommy McGrew, Anthony McGrew and Charles Edward Stockton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Campbell, Bill Vickery, Jimmy Don Gooch, Billy Ross Bryan, Otis Arnold and Earl Muck.
