Gene Rotert
Freda Imogene Spicer Rotert, 81, died Friday, May 24, 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Van Buren.
Survivors include her husband, John; a daughter, Sondra Spears of Hampton, Ga.; a son, John D. Rotert of Van Buren; a sister, Ruby LeRose of Portage, Ind.; two grandsons, Brad Rotert of Van Buren and Scott Rotert of Fort Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Lucas Rotert, both of Fort Smith.
Funeral service was held May 28 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial was at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Blondell Boyakin
Blondell Lester Boyakin, 78, of Rudy died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a retired department manager for a furniture store, rancher, Freewill Baptist and member of Van Buren Masonic Lodge No. 6.
Survivors include his wife, Ersell; one daughter, Joyce Lorene Holt of Germantown, Tenn.; three sisters, Reba Lamb, Betty Bonewell and Lee Mae McCurdy, all of Rudy; one brother, Donald Boyakin of Rudy; and two grandchildren, Lisa and Keri Holt of Germantown.
Funeral service was held Feb. 6 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Mount McCurry Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Leon Lamb, Bobby Boyakin, Donnie Boyakin, Ronald Dale Bonewell, Rickey Franklin and James Franklin. Honorary pallbearers were R.C. Rogers, Everett Cluck, Dwight Cluck, Ronnie Richmond, Jimmy Richmond, Mackey Burkart, John Holt, Darrell Smith and Rickey Smith.
Shelly Graves
Shelly Graves, 57, of Chester died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a caregiver for Elder Choices Home Health Care.
Survivors include on son, Dustin Graves of Chester; four sisters, Genevia Hamrick of Newport News, Va., Jean Hammond of Beloit, Wis., Mindy Weber of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Vickie Dushane of Raytown, Mo.; and four brothers, Cecil Estep of Odgen, Ore., Thomas Estep of Murray, Ky., Jimmy Darrell Thornsberry of Colorado and Everett Estep of Las Vegas.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chester Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Betty Lincoln
Betty Lincoln, 84, of Springdale died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at her home. The former resident of Van Buren was the widow of Leonard Lee "Abe" Lincoln.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Cole of Springdale; one sister, Dena Barnes of Bartlesville, Okla.; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated under the direction Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 610 E. Emma, Springdale, Ark., 72764.
Velma Neely
Velma Neely, 92, of Van Buren died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at a local nursing home. She was a resident of Van Buren since 1917 and worked for the Sterling Variety Store and Van Buren High School lunch program. She was a member of Van Buren First Assembly of God Church, widow of Buford Neely and did volunteer work for Project Compassion, Senior Volunteer Program and RSVP.
Survivors include four daughters, Frances Cantrall of Springfield, Ill., Mary Ruth Boyd of Wichita Falls, Texas, Janet Rainey of Bartlett, Tenn., and Barbara Berry of Fort Smith; one son, Buford "Buddy" Neely Jr. of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson, Van Buren.
