LaQuita Russell
LaQuita Gayle Russell, 31, of Van Buren died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at her home. She was a native of Danville, homemaker and a member of Assembly of God Church in Havana.
Survivors include two sons, Eric Dehart and Jeffery Dehart, both of Van Buren; her mother, Mary Ann Miles of Booneville; five sisters, Angel Anders of Russellville, Debbie Russell of Booneville, Sandra Russell of Fort Smith and Juanita Russell and Kathy Wiley, both of Van Buren; three brothers, Leon Russell and Richard Russell, both of Fort Smith, and Randy Russell of Dardanelle; and three uncles.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Havana Cemetery under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville. The Rev. Bill Shorts will officiate.
Sherman Martindale
Sherman Martindale, 65, of Van Buren died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, in Cowlington, Okla. He was the former owner and operator of Sherman's Grocery, a cattleman, farmer and member of the Crawford County Cattleman's Association.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Martindale; four daughters, Robin Moore, Cindy Mizell, Tammy Flynn and Dana Davis, all of Van Buren; his mother, Lucille Martindale of Cowlington; one sister, Sue Shakingbush of Cowlington; and seven grandchildren, Nicholas and Bradford Moore, Kris and Kolby Kendrick, Katy and Ivy Mizell and Bailey Smith, all of Van Buren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 22 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Cowlington Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Toby Breeden, Wally Hays, Dr. B.C. Criswell, Larry Spiller, Raymond Akins and Davis Kelly.
Darlene Balazic
Darlene Balazic, 50, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Jan, 17, 2001, at her home. She was a member of Mountainburg Presbyterian Church and owner/operator of Darlene's Salon.
Survivors include her husband, Mike; three daughters, Monica Nolen of Fayetteville, Mindy Alexander of Fort Smith and Malory Toothaker of Van Buren; one sister, Linda Smith Palmer of Richmond, Texas; two brothers, Billy Smith of Fort Smith and Robert Gene Smith of Rock Island, Ark,; and six grandchildren, Taylor and Robert Nolen, Alexis and Ethan Alexander, Hunter Balazic and Reagan Toothaker.
Funeral service was held Jan. 20 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Stanley Burkhart, Roger Parker, Jim Pogue, Danny Cochran, Roy Gene Cochran, Dale Balazic, Bobby Wofford and Ed Scheumack.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peachtree Hospice, 2910 Jenny Lind, No. 6 Boston Square, Fort Smith, Ark., 72901.
Rheba Henley
Rheba F. Henley, 73, of Van Buren died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at a local nursing home. She was a retired bookkeeper for Joe Sanford CPA, attended New Home Community Church in Uniontown and was the widow of Ray Henley.
Survivors include one daughter, Ava Marie Kronk of Walnut Ridge; one son, Randall Ray of Fort Smith; two sisters, Ruth Ferguson and Mary K. Barber, both of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 18 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ryan and Brandon Henley and Ronnie Van Nostrand.
John LeFlore
John Junior LeFlore, 53, of Van Buren died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in Fort Smith He was a disabled veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Kathie; one daughter, Sandra Lynn LeFlore; one stepdaughter, Darlene Berryhill; one son, John III; two stepsons, Paul and Stanley Rogers; three sisters, Corrine Nunn, Welma Anderson and Joelle LeFlore; three brothers, Silias Daniel, Jackie LeFlore and Otis Campellbee; and four step-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Jan. 17 at Siloam Springs Cemetery near McCurtain, Okla., under the direction of King and Sherwood Funeral Home in Stigler.
Pallbearers were Stanley and Paul Rogers, Silas Daniel LeFlore, Stanley Wynn, Timmy Mayhall, Richard Pullen and Larry Timmons.
