Calvin Shibley
Calvin Gene Shibley, 60, of Van Buren died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at a local hospital. He was the owner and operator of Shibley Salvage.
Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Howard and Carolyn Taber, both of Van Buren, and Charlotte Jones of Chester; one son, Mark Shibley of Van Buren; his mother, Marie Shibley of Van Buren; one sister, Bonnie Pacello of Van Buren; one brother, Fred Shibley of Cour d'lena, Idaho; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Jan. 10 at Macedonia Cemetery near Uniontown under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Glen Taber, Bill Jones, Joe Howard, Tom McGhee and Wally Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Howard and Michael Howard.
Fred Allen
Fred Rudoph Allen, 74, of Van Buren died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Van Buren, attended the Gospel Rescue Mission, Army veteran of World War II, member of the American Legion Post No. 31 and retired employee of Roselawn Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Corrine; four daughters, Shirley Ann Wood and Betty Jo Anthony, both of Fort Smith, Mary Gaylon Wells of Rogers and Frances Lee Titsworth of Van Buren; two sons, Fred R. Allen Jr. and Billy Ray Allen, both of Cedarville; one brother, Eugene Douglas Allen of Salem, Ore.; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 8 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Lowe's Creek Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Matt Utz, Mike Fotenopulos, John Martin, Jake Wells, Andy Greenwood, Jackie Foulk, Randall Hicks and Webb Merry. Honorary pallbearers were David Wells, Phillip Wood and Will Anthony.
Elsie Booker
Elsie Booker, 92, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, in Van Buren. She was a member of the New Hope Regular Baptist Church. Formerly of the Graphic Community in Crawford County and widow of Gene Booker.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Snyder of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Kimela Milton of Ontario, Ore., and Robert McCabe of Norwalk, Calif.; and one great-grandchild, Brecklin Milton of Ortario.
Funeral service was held Jan. 9 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was at Pope Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Kenny Cushing
Kenny Cushing, 25, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Kristen; one daughter, Rashana Bond of the home; his parents, Nadine and Williard Cushing of Van Buren; one sister, Sherry Cunningham of Van Buren; two nephews, Shawn Pitts and Drew Ashworth of Van Buren; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service was held Jan. 8 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were John and Pete Sands, Eric Fusha, Erin Smith, Kevin Cochran and Chris Williams.
Memorial contributions may be made to a fund for Rashana, c/o Kristen Cushing, 4201 Royal Oak Drive, Fort Smith, Ark., 72904.
Leo Jones
Leo Jones, 59, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at a local hospital. He was retired from Spray-Rite Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie; one son, Michael lee Jones of Brickley, Ark.; his brother, Celia Jones of Van Buren; two sisters, Fay Cagle of Van Buren and Nancy Gallagher of Fort Smith; two brothers, Billy Ray Jones of Rudy and Melvin Ray Jones of Van Buren; one grandchild, Serenity Kay Jones of Fort Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buen under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Derek Blount, Billy Reynolds Jr., Willie Nichols, Curtis Willhite, Jimmy Willhite, Eric Jones, Melvin Jones Jr. and Billy Dewayne Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Spray-Rite Inc.
The family will meet with friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
