Clara Carter
Clara Carter, 97, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker, attended the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Fort Smith, last member of her immediate family and widow of Ernest Carter.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Carter of Fort Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Dripping Springs Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Jim Closser
Jim Closser, 80, of the Dripping Springs Community died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at his home. He was retired from Dixie Cup and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; five sisters, Dorothy Brown and Betty Truax of Parkersburg, Iowa, Mary Sue Stone of Moberly, Mo., Helen Kennedy of Sacramento, Calif., and Elsie Mae Choate of Beaumont, Texas; one brother, Richard Closser of Fayette, Mo.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Dec. 27 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at Macedona Cemetery at Uniontown under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Fred Melville, Ken Landers, Tom and Ted McMurray, Gerald McDaniel and Wilburn Fears. Honorary pallbearers were co-workers at Dixie
Chester Crawford
Chester Crawford, 84, of Van Buren died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at his home. He was a member of Rena Road Church of Christ and Van Buren Masonic Lodge, Coast Guard veteran of World War II and retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Marie Crawford; one sister, Betty Jackson of Tulsa; one brother, Bobby Crawford of Alma; nine nephews, Gregg Crawford of Fort Smith, Grant Crawford and W.L. Arnold, both of Texas, Jeff Crawford of Springdale, Wilford Arnold of Alma, Bob Crouch of Fayetteville, Ryan Martin of Dallas and Steve Crawford and Neal Crawford, both of Washington; two nieces, Jennifer Martin of Texas and Deborah Crouch of Fayetteville; and caregiver, Junior Bing.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial will be at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Gregg Crawford, Grant Crawford, Jeff Crawford, Wilford Arnold, W.L. Arnold, Bob Crouch and Ryan Martin.
Kenneth Gray
Kenneth Joe Gray, 50, of Barling died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at a local hospital. He was a salesman for Truck Pro, attended Harvest Time Tabernacle Church and was a member of the antique car club.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise Wadsworth of Eules, Texas, and Sheila Jackson of Prescott, Ark.; four sons, Ricky Joe Gray of Jacksonville, Ark., Michael Gray of McRae, Ark., Steven Gray of North Little Rock and James D. Henry of Little Rock; two brothers, Bobby Gray of Mountainburg and Phillip Gray of Little Rock; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Dec. 27 at Putman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Harmony Community Cemetery, north of Conway.
Pallbearers were Kenny Scott, Scott Crenshaw, Leon Kyzer, Brad Henry, Johnny C. Scott and Bill Young.
Iva Ross
Iva Ross, 93, of Mountainburg died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at her home. She was a member of Gregory Chapel Church of Christ and a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Naomi Kilpatrick of Yakima, Wash., Alla Mae Hanna of Mountainburg and Sue Foster of Fayetteville; one sister, Bonnie Fields of Fayetteville; one sister-in-law, Redith Hauth of Mountainburg; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Ocker Chapel of Alma. Burial will be at Cain Cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ross Hanna, Bryan Ross, Zachary Dean, Landon Parker, Joey Harp and Phillip Parker.
The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home, 917 Highway 64 East in Alma.
