Gretchen Blackburn
Gretchen Nickell Blackburn, 88, of Clarksville died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at a Clarksville hospital. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville and the Church Circle and the widow of Roy R. Blackburn.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David and Tona Blackman of Van Buren; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Blackburn of Yorktown, Va.; four grandchildren, Donna Sue Blackburn of Virginia Beach, Va., Roy Blackburn and Waiter Blackburn, both of Fort Smith, and Steven Blackburn of Conway; and two great-grandchildren, Iris and Aaron Paige of Virginia Beach, Va.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel in Clarksville. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Blackburn, Walter Blackburn, Steven Blackburn, Alan Brooke, Wayne Kimbley and Martin Kimbley.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
Johnson Gunn
Johnson Gunn, 67, of Tulsa died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas where he letter in basketball and football, Marine Corps veteran and retired investor and produce broker. He developed Liberty Towers, founded Liberty Investors Life Insurance Co. and was on the board of directors of several companies.
Survivors include his wife, Sonya; one son, Jay Gunn; one daughter, Lisa Chapman; mother, Eddie Gunn; two sisters, Jane Barrett and Judy Maness; and five granddaughters, Taylor, Paige and Samantha Gunn and Abbey and Ally Chapman.
Funeral service was held Dec. 18 at Southern Bills Baptist Church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hollaway Cemetery in Spicewood, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Oscar Price
George William "Oscar" Price, 59, of Alma died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at a local hospital. He was a self-employed backhoe operator and of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include his wife, Danna Price; one daughter, Wendy Charity of Alma; two sons, John Allen Price of Aztec, N.M., and Keith Price of Alma; four sisters, Shirley Templeton, Dollie Barker and Darlene David, all of Plainview, Texas, and Bertie Nunn of Skellytown, Texas; three brothers, Charlie, Dale and Gerald Watkins, all of Alma; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Chapel of Alma. Burial will be at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ocker Funeral Home, 917 Highway 64 East, Alma.
Louie Sangster
Louie M. Sangster, 90, of Muldrow died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at his home. He was an Army veteran of World War II, Baptist and retired assistant foreman for a furniture company.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Sangster.
Funeral service was held Dec. 19 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Jim Denton, John Pollard, Chuck Hoover, John Pollard Jr., Faron Brunk and Greg Peters.
Paul Speer
Paul E. Speer, 74, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at his home. He retired as a baker from Syfert's Bakery after 32 years and was a World War II veteran and Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy; one daughter, Tammy Speer of North Little Rock; one son, Brian Speer of Van Buren; one sister, Bonnie Syfert of Fort Smith; two brothers, Robert of Little Rock and Billy Joe of Bell Gardens, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Patricia Ann and Jeffery L. Speer.
Graveside service was Dec. 12 at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward Hospice, P.O. Box 17000, Fort Smith, Ark., 72917, Calvary Baptist Church, 2301 Midland Blvd., Fort Smith, Ark., 72904, for the charity of the donor's choice.
