Jerry Long
Jerry Donald Long, 67, of Alma died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002. He was self-employed and a resident of the Kibler area.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth; two stepdaughters, Keturah Wylemski of Sylvania, Ga., and Rachael Leaton of Enid, Okla.; one son, Morris Long of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Cheryl Bee of Oklahoma City and Jody Thompson of Fort Worth, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body was donated to medical science. Arrangements were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Cora Frazier
Cora Bell Frazier, 83, of Van Buren died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, formerly of Mulberry and of the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Frazier.
Survivors include four daughters, Irene Cowan of Mulberry, Betty Moore and Sylvia Frazier, both of Van Buren, and Louise Richey of Indiana; two stepdaughters, Wanda Murphy of Van Buren and Lois Welch of California; three sons, Raymond Frazier of Alma; Carroll Frazier of Van Buren and Shirl Frazier; two stepsons, Von Frazier of Van Buren and Delmer Frazier of Tulsa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 27 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was at New Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Curtis Cowan, Billy Cowan, James Frazier, Oliver Frazier, Troy Frazier and Todd Richey. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Cowan, Roy Moore and Ronnie DeWater.
Jewell Chitwood
Jewell Chitwood, 95, of Dyer died Feb. 25, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was the Dyer Cemetery caretaker for 47 years, a retired carpenter and a member of Dyer United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Chitwood.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Coleman of Dyer; one son, John Paul Chitwood of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Donna Kay Small of Kibler and Paul Wayne Coleman of Mountainburg; and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral service was held Feb. 27 at Dyer United Methodist Church. Burial was at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Todd Small, Paul Wayne Coleman, Ray Jackson, Danny Udouj, Jerry Prescott and David Bender.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dyer United Methodist Church or Dyer Cemetery Association.
Evelyn Dunford
Evelyn Naomi Dunford, 92, of Van Buren died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002. She was a member of the Kelly Heights Baptist Church and was retired from the Camarillo State Hospital in California where she was a licensed psychiatric technician.
Survivors include two daughters, Dina Nordby of Mansfield and Dana Davidson of Van Buren; twin sister, Ethlyn Farmer of Van Buren; five grandchildren, Daniel Hackney of Greenwood, Mary Burks of Van Buren, Naomi Elkins of Fort Smith, Carolynn King of Van Buren and Angela Lehnen of Fort Smith.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville.
Faye Simco
Faye Simco, 75, of Mountainburg died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a member of Pigeon Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Simco; one son, John Simco of Mountainburg; two sisters Thelma Del Russi of Mt. Ephrain, N.J. and Garnett Farris of Greenwood; three brothers, Kenith Birchfield of Alma, Warren Birchfield of Bidville and Doug Birchfield of Mountainburg; and one grandson, Austin Simco of Mountainburg.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pigeon Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be at Bidville Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Birchfield, Jody Birchfield, Rock Rodebush, Mike Birchfield, Butch Thomas and Stanley Gabbard. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Cole, Will Faulkner, Terry Bassham, Ken Farris, Ernie Baker, Gerald Bailey and Lee Hannah.
