Laurel Carr
Laurel Carr, 85, of Roland died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Bobby Killmer of Mucksinn, Idaho; a sister, Geneva Harris of California; two brothers, Morris Moon of Modesto, Calif., and Eugene Moon of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Denny, Susan, Hughie, Michael, John and Wade; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held March 1 at Roland City Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peachtree Hospice, 2910 Jenny Lind, Fort Smith, AR 72901.
Agnes Wright
Agnes Jobe Wright, 92, of Mountainburg died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a member of Pigeon Creek Free Will Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. “Boy” Wright.
Survivors include two daughters, Nelda Watkins Marshall of Mountainburg and Lou Vaughan Furr of Gallatin, Tenn.; one sister, Juanita Powell of Antlers, Okla.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held March 2 at Pigeon Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was held at Vaught Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Tim Watkins, Tom Watkins, Cedar Wright Furr, Tracy Brad Wright, Shaun Owen and Kelly Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Pigeon Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Sid Eoff, Gerald Bailey, Ray Sims and Jimmy Rogers.
Minnie Brammer
Minnie Catherine “Rusty” Brammer, 75, of Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a member of the 81 Freewill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, a retired machine operator for Dixie Cup, and a member of the local 5-0656 PACE International Union.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Meadors of Alma, Patricia Willis of Ridgedale, Mo., and Carol Webb of Franklin, N.C.; three sons, Richard Hicks of Alma, Jim Hicks of Bald Knob and Dennis Brammer of Van Buren; two brothers, Henry Stevenson of Dennison, Texas, and Thomas Stevenson of Lubbock, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service was held March 2 at Ocker Chapel of Alma. The body was cremated under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
James King
James Richard “Ricky” King, 24, of Alma died July 13, 1997. He was a member of the Graphic New Hope Baptist Church and a construction worker.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelly Carter of Mountainburg; mother and stepfather, Harold and Dianna Pointer of Alma; one sister, Becky Brown of Alma; and three brothers, Steve Weaver of Van Buren, Matthew Pointer and Jeff Pointer, both of Alma.
Funeral service was held March 4 at Ocker Chapel of Alma. Burial was at Pope Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Charles Nolan
Charles V. Nolan, 31, of Van Buren died Sunday, March 10, 2002. He was a Red Cross volunteer and spent 11 weeks at the World Trade Center Ground Zero after Sept. 11. He taught English to the Spanish at Lau Beuch Literacy Action Service and was a computer installation technician for Nolan Computer Service.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara Moore of Van Buren, his father, Stan Nolan of Oklahoma City; a sister, Sherry Smith of Van Buren; a brother, William Moore of Fort Smith; and his grandparents, Thurman and Louise Gilbreth of Alma.
The body will be cremated. Burial of remains will be held at Pilot Grove Cemetery south of Ozark under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
