Cynthia Graves
Cynthia L. Herndon Graves, 33, of Arkoma died Tuesday, March 5, 2002. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny; a daughter, Rachel Graves; her mother, Edna Melton; two sisters, Edna Miller of Muldrow and Sybil Warwick of Fort Smith; four half sisters; four brothers, Coyd Welch of Garland, Texas, Jimmy Welch of Arkoma, Gary Don Welch of Muldrow and Calvin Welch of Fort Smith; and a half brother.
Graveside service was held March 12 at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were James Oliver, William McLane, Bill McLane, Leon Warrick, Trey Cardwell, James Shelly, Darrell Miller and Jimmy Wilcox.
Donald McKinney
Donald Ray McKinney, 72, of Yukon, Okla., died Wednesday, March 6, 2002. He attended Poteau High and became team captain and quarterback of the 1948 undefeated state champion football team. He later attended Eastern State University receiving his bachelor’s in education and later attended Southwestern State University earning a master’s degree in Education. He served in the Air Force in occupied Japan and during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952 having achieved final rank as staff sergeant. He received the Japan Occupation Medal as well as the Korean Service Medal. He was a retired field service officer and abatement judge for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, oil and gas division. Prior to that he had been a petroleum engineer for the Birdwell Co., a subsidiary of Seismograph Service Corp. of Tulsa. He worked with the Disabled American Veterans helping the fellow disabled apply for needed benefits. He received the Oklahoma DAV's 2001 award as volunteer of the year. He worked with the Yukon Salvation Army Senior Citizens Center for the Meals on Wheels program. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yukon.
Survivors include his wife, Ethyl Marie McKinney; three children, Deborah Painter of Van Buren, Cheryl Cuzco of Fort Smith and Derek McKinney of Vancouver, Wash.; two stepchildren, Vickie Shawcross of Higgins, Texas, and Clendon Detrixhe of Yukon; five grandchildren, W. Scott and Brett Painter, Andrew Cuzco and Rachel and Bronte McKinney; four step grandchildren, James Hill, Jill Slocum, Jody Davis and Jovah Detrixhe; one brother, William E. McKinney of Bixby, Okla. and nephew, Mark W. McKinney of Rogers.
Funeral service was held March 11 at the First Baptist Church of Yukon. Burial with military honors was at Yukon Cemetery under the direction of Yanda Funeral Home of Yukon.
Mary Childers
Mary Louise Childers, 73, of Greenwood died Thursday, March 7, 2002. She was a retired bookkeeper, a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood, the Order of Eastern Star and the Quilters Guild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jack Childers.
Survivors include one daughter, Leeann Driscoll of Greenwood; two sons, Henry Childers of Seattle, Wash., and Cliff Childers of Fayetteville; one sister, Pauline Childers of Fort Smith; eight grandchildren, Joshua Childers, Elizabeth Childers, B.J. Childers, Heather Childers, Jessica Childers, Aubree Driscoll, Emily Driscoll and Sarah Driscoll; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Lauren Young.
Funeral service was held March 9 at First Baptist Church of Greenwood. Burial was at Steep Hill Cemetery under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Rex Driscoll, Marion Driscoll, Ted Childers, Martin Ahne, Stan Brown and George Lensing.

David King Rayburn, 44, of Little Rock died Saturday, March 25, 2002, at a Little Rock hospital. He was an employee of Med-Tronic, member of St. James Methodist Church in Little Rock, a 1976 graduate of Van Buren High School and a graduate of University of Missouri with a bachelor of science degree.
Survivors include his wife Catherine; one daughter, Amy Rayburn of Little Rock; one son, Lucas Rayburn of Little Rock; his mother, Mary Jane Rayburn of Lavaca; one sister, Becky Hogan of Dora; one brother, Bob Rayburn Jr. of Little Rock; one nephew Justin Hogan of Dora.
Funeral service was held March 26 at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. Memorial service was held March 27 at St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock.
Pallbearers were Mark Evans, Michael Ocker, Price Roark, Mark Hatfield, Charlie Steele and Jason Oleska.

Miranda Burcham
Miranda Jean Burcham, 8, of Mountainburg died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at a Little Rock hospital. She was a member of Homestead Heights Church in Fort Smith, a Mountainburg Primary School student where she was a cheerleader, member of the basketball and baseball teams and an honor student.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Donna and Justin Lewis of Mountainburg; her father and stepmother, Carl and Sabrina Burcham of Van Buren; maternal grandfather, Jerry Boerjan of Mountainburg; paternal grandparents, Paul and Betty Darter of Fort Smith; two sisters, Jessica Lewis of Mountainburg and Vanessa Franklin of Fort Smith; four brothers, Bobby Burcham of Alma, James Mirus and Brandon Lewis, both of Mountainburg, and James Stringer of Poteau; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service was held March 27 at Ocker Chapel of Alma. Burial was at Cain Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Troy Flinn, Jim Ray David, Richard Johnson and Tiger Backus.
