Mary Heim
Mary Mae Heim, 84, of Van Buren died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a retired employee of the Boston Store and Phoenix Fashions.
Survivors include one sister, Sylvia Dodd of Van Buren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Dodd, Donnie Dodd, Marty Dodd, Brandon Dodd, Cliff Hall and Brad Hall.
Helen Nelson
Helen Clyma Nelson, 80, of Fort Smith died March 21, 2002. She was a homemaker and member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church since 1951.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn; three daughters, Gail Thorson of Kiev, Ukraine, and Minta Jane Bowers and and Glenda Kraus, both of Fort Smith; one brother, Russell Clyma of Van Buren; four grandchildren, Johnathan Thorson of Nashville, Tenn., Martin Thorson and Nathaniel Thorson, both of Kiev, and Grant Bowers of Fort Smith; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial service was held March 25 at Grand Avenue Baptist Church. Burial was at Oak Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Adult 10 Sunday school class of Grand Avenue Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Avenue Baptist Church, 3900 Grand Avenue, Fort Smith, AR 72904.
Jessie Parker
Jessie D. Cluck Parker, 75, of Reno, Nev., died Wednesday, March 20, 2002. She was a retired nurse from a Sacramento, Calif., hospital and formerly of Rudy. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include one sister, Wilma Cluck Gilliam of Fort Smith.
The body was cremated under the direction of Reno Memorial Funeral Services.
Stephen McCormick
Stephen McCormick, 57, of Rudy died Sunday, March 24, 2002. He was a construction worker for Jensen Bridge Company, Navy veteran and attended Kenner Chapel Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene; four sons, Shannon McCormick and Lonnie McCormick, both of Fort Smith; Shawn McCormick of Sod, W.V., and Shane McCormick of Mountainburg; his mother, Evangeline McCormick of Lincoln Park, Mich.; three sisters, Lois Guthrie of Lincoln Park and Anne Mink and Tanda Maynard, both of Gadsen, Ala.; one brother, Mark B. McCormick of Ecorse, Mich.; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was held March 27 at Morrison Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Shannon McCormick, Lonnie McCormick, Shawn McCormick, Shane McCormick, Shawn McCormick II and Shane McCormick II.
Wilma Rogers
Wilma Jean Rogers, 72, of Van Buren died Sunday, March 17, 2002, in Conway. She was a member of Van Buren First Baptist Church and a retired secretary for the church. She was the widow of Edward Lee Rogers.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Baker of Ben Kulu, Indonesia, and Janet Tracey of McKinney, Texas; two sons, Paul Rogers and David Rogers, both of Conway; her mother, Bessie Lonsbury of Van Buren; three sisters, Barbara Hutchinson of Fort Smith, Helen McIntyre of Farmers Branch, Texas, and Margie Clinkenbeard of Waukesha, Wis.; a brother, George Lonsbury Jr. of Idaho; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial service was held March 23 at First Baptist Church in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Baptist Foreign Mission Board, c/o Van Buren First Baptist Church, 1121 E. Main St., Van Buren, AR 72956 or the Boy Scouts of America, 1401 S. 31st St., Fort Smith, AR.
