Marjorie Travis
Marjorie Travis, 73, of Van Buren died Monday, June 11, 2001, at a local nursing home.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Larry Travis; two daughters, Dawn Pincock of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and Jamie Leib of Bellingham, Wash.; one son, Daral Travis of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; and seven grandchildren.
The body was cremated under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
A memorial service will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 92 W Sunbridge, Fayetteville, AR 72703.

Ernest Swearingen Sr.
Ernest Swearingen Sr., 82, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a baker for Shipley and Wonder Bakeries, an Army veteran of W.W.II, a member of the American Legion and a Presbyterian.
Survivors include two sons, Allen “Eddie” Swearingen and Ernie Swearingen Jr., both of Fort Smith; and four grandchildren, Ernie Swearingen III, Allen Swearingen, David Swearingen and Melissa Swearingen.
Funeral service was held June 8 at Putman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was held at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith with the American Legion providing color guard.
Pallbearers were Dean Epps, Denver Clement, Joe Bob King, Donald McDonald, Ronnie Clegg and Rick Clegg.

C.M. Thomasmug
C.M. Tommy Thomas, 83, of Alma died Tuesday, May 14, 2002. He was a retired businessman with Plastice Research and Development in Granada Hills, Calif., and a resident of Alma since 1974.
Survivors include his wife, Glennis; one daughter, Stormi Thomas; two sons, James M. Thomas of Torrance, Calif., and Dr. Robert J. Thomas of Newport Beach, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Cremation was under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

James Cross
James LeRoy Cross Sr., 80, of Rudy died Saturday May 11, 2002. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Cecilia; seven children, Brian Cross of Rudy, Gary Cross of Salida, Colo., Betty Syrock of Cedarville, Marty Cross of Poncha Springs, Colo., Diana Wood of Poncha Springs and Jacqueline Neldner of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mary Cross of Dolores, Colo.; four brothers, John Cross, Earl Cross, Dale Cross and Lawrence Cross; three sisters, Ida Irwin, Louise Rickshaw and Jesse Elvik; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary was held May 15 with mass of the Christian burial held at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment was held at Poncha Springs Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Witt, Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

John Parmenter
John W. Parmenter, 88, of Vancouver, Wash., died Thursday, May 2, 2002. He was formerly from Crawford County. He was a contractor in both commercial and residential building, he worked for Sharff Brothers Construction Co., in Salem, Ore., and retired in 1975. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie.
Survivors include two daughters, Thelda Dudley of Vancouver, Wash., and Norma Bahr of Klamath Falls; one son, Jonny H. Parmenter of Salem; stepbrother, Joe Stockton of Fort Smith; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held May 8 at Restlawn Funeral Home in Salem.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Ruby Rush
Ruby Rush, 95, of Kibler died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of Kibler Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest.
Survivors include two daughters, Joy Foggia of Milwaukie, Ore., and Peggy Freeman of Joliet, Ill.; two sisters, Lillian Arnold of Alma and Jean Smith of Van Buren; one brother, Curtis Robinson of Cedarville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held May 18 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Janes Creek Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Geneva Vinsett
Geneva Miller Vinsett, 83, of Van Buren died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred.
Survivors include two sisters, Lillian Allen of Van Buren and Velva Parks of Newport News, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was held May 20 at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Bill Vickery, Bob Oliver, Jim Sargent, J.R. Young, Tom Talley and Dr. J.C. Hubbs.
Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Foundation or the Heart Fund.

Dallas Bonner
Dallas Mae Bonner, 59, of Van Buren died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at a local hospital. She was the owner of a thrift shop, a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Van Buren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie “Butch” Bonner.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Clark of West Fork and Lily Copeland of Van Buren; two sons, Jackie Bonner of Van Buren and Tommy Bonner of Monte Vista, Colo.; one sister, Anne Hatfield of Van Buren; two brothers, James Nabours of Muldrow, Okla. and Jackie Nabours of Van Buren; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held June 8 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Burial was held at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Claudie Copeland, Carrol Copeland, Charles Gilmore, John Szczerba, Conrad Smith, Dewayne Cauchern, Clifford Newberry and Gene Stanton.

Eugene Allen
Eugene Douglas Allen, 71, of Salem, Ore. died Monday, June 4, 2001, in Salem, Ore. He was a farmer.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Lee Allen of Mulberry; and two sisters-in-law, Corrine Allen of Van Buren and Velma Allen of Buxton, Ore.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
