Opal Fenton
Opal Louise Fenton, 98, of Gillette, Wyo., died Wednesday, April 17, 2002. She was formerly of Alma and Van Buren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Fenton and her brother, Dibrell Johnson, a prominent Van Buren citizen; her sisters, Ruby Allison, and Garnet Johnson; and her daughter, Joan Naramore, all of Gillette.
Survivors include her son, Harold Biggerstaff of Gillette; five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held April 24 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with internment at Mount Pisqah Cemetery in Gillette.
Anna Watkins
Anna Marie Watkins, 84, of Mulberry died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker, an avid quilter and fiddler play and of the Baptist faith. She was the widow of R. C. Watkins.
Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Humble and Jean Slavens, both of Mountainburg; three sons, Danny Joe Watkins, Davey Watkins and Darrell Watkins, all of Mulberry; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held May 1 at Pope Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Richard McDonner, Steve Watkins, Bradley Watkins, Brian Berry, Brett Meadors, Danny Johnson, Curtis Scowden, Gavin Watkins and Kirby Watkins.
Honorary pallbearers were Red Jones, Ralph Jones, Pete Watkins, Kenny Watkins, Argil Watkins, Junior Dewey, Donald Stout, Ray Rastall, Andy Kizer, Bobby Shores and Allen Ray Ward.
Louise Gentry
Louise Ray Gentry, 83, of Van Buren died Monday, May 13, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church and a former office manager for the Van Buren Water Department. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ray.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Gentry; one daughter, Elaine McKeown of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sons, Paul Ray of Van Buren and Bruce Ray of Sherwood; one brother, Donald Peer of Fort Smith; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Heritage United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be J.C. Ray, Pat Biggerstaff, Rick Biggerstaff, Richard Peer, David Peer and Steven Peer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Unity Sunday School class of the Heritage United Methodist Church.
Charles Winford
Charles Raymond Winford, 92, of Dyer died Friday, May 10, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was a retired manager of Kinney Shoe Stores, a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith and attended the Dyer Methodist Church. He was a resident of Dyer since 1972 and a former resident of Garden Grove, Calif. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the widower of Reba Dyer Winford.
Survivors include a sister, Ellen Burton of Hartford, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held May 13 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Jerry Nelson, Roy Beebe, Lawrence Fitting, Roger McConnell, Chad Beebe and Jerry Winford. Honorary pallbearers were his nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dyer United Methodist Church, 119 N. Washington, Dyer, AR 72935.
Wyatt Houghton
Wyatt C. Houghton, 44, of Van Buren died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at a local hospital. He was an employee of Jim Grizzle Tire Company.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl; a son, Douglas Wages of Van Buren; his mother, Irene Starner of Beaumont, Calif.; five sisters, Kathy Glaister, Sherry Dunaway, Linda Houghton, Brenda McCoy and Irene Barron, all of California; and four brothers, Quirk, Billy, Larry and Ricky Dunaway, all of California.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Block Holiness Church. Burial will be at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Wages, Roger Brausell, Bruce Long, Alan Leifker, Billy Smith and Tony Garvin.
