Roger Odell Snow

Roger Odell Snow, age 54, of Newport died Feb. 10, 2007, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born March 23, 1952, at Batesville, Ark., the son of Calvin C. and Vernia Mae (Felts) Snow. He was a past owner and administrator of Newport Health Care Nursing Home and a member of First Presbyterian Church at Newport.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Ann (Gillihan) Snow of the home; one son Roger Odell Snow Jr., and one daughter, Elizabeth Snow both of the home; his parents, Calvin and Vernia Snow of Cave City; two brothers, Billy Snow and Leo Snow both of Cave City; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Feb. 13 at the First Assembly of God Church in Cave City with Rev Alan Ford and Rev. Allen Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Maxville cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Finis Horton, Kendell Weaver, Mike Price, Robin Smith, Travis Snow and Max hunter.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Pratt, John A. Walton Jr. and Butch Crafton.
Harold Kenneth Jackson

Harold Kenneth Jackson was born the son of Alvah Jackson and Winnie Gualt Jackson on Aug. 25, 1921, in Myron, Ark. He died Feb. 6, 2007, in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 85.
He was united in marriage Jan. 2, 1943, in Salem to Lela Sheppard.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He was stationed in Germany for many months, attached to the Mobile 116th Evacuation Hospital. He was a contract mail carrier and was also an independent insurance agent for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 55 in Mammoth Spring and a member of the Star Route Mail Carriers Association. He was a member of the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ.
He is survived by: his wife, Lela of the home in Mammoth Spring; one son, Gregory Jackson and wife Brenda of Salem; three grandchildren, Jacob Smith and wife Kathy of Salem, Zachary Smith of Salem and Lindsey Smith of Sherman, Texas; one great-grandson, Calvin Smith of Salem; one brother, Gerald Jackson and wife Nina of Franklin; one sister, Myrlene Hastings and husband Donald of West Plains, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Odessa Haney of Mammoth Spring and Jean Huton of Hardy; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Feb. 9 at the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ in Mammoth Spring with Lee Moses officiating. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery in Mammoth Spring.
Services were under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
Daniel K. Russell

Daniel K. Russell, 34, of Ash Flat, died Feb. 8, 2007, at Horseshoe Bend. He was born in Flint, Mich.
He is survived by: his father and step-mother, Lowell and Leola Russell of Ash Flat; his mother and step-father, Alice and Willie Scroggins; two brothers, Lowell Kelly Russell II and Jeremy M. Russell; two step-brothers, Kris Snow and Jeff Snow; one step-sister, Katie Snow; his grandfather, Theron Russell; his grandmother, Lois McKeny; his aunts and uncles; and six nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Feb. 12 at Heath Oak Hill Chapel with Rev. Author Barber officiating. Burial was at New Hope cemetery in Pollard, Ark.
Della Jo Kirby

Della Jo Kirby, 54, of Hardy, died Feb. 9, 2007, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born Dec. 13, 1952, in Batesville, the daughter of Olen Burrow and Joline (Riley) Burrow.
She worked as a CNA for the nursing home in Ash Flat. She was a member of the Spring River Baptist Church in Hardy.
She is survived by: her husband, Charles Kirby of the home; her daughter, Anna Amrhein of Mammoth Spring; her mother, Joline Burrow of Bethesda; three sisters, Sandra Millspaugh of Bethesda, Robbie Smith of Sulphur Rock, and Jan Sample of Southside; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Olen Burrow; and one brother, John Olen Burrow.
Graveside services were held Feb. 10 at the Saddle cemetery near Saddle, Ark., with Bro. Floyd Rikard officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland.
Ben E. Taylor

Ben E. Taylor, 92, of Batesville, formerly of Cave City, died Feb. 6, 2007, at the Wood Lawn Nursing Home in Batesville. He was born Dec. 8, 1914, at Evening Shade, Ark., to Sam and Leona (Arnold) Taylor.
He was employed by the Corp of Engineers working on the Mississippi River; a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II; and a member of the Matlock Road Church of God in Cave City.
He is survived by: one sister, Eudean Thorne of Tennessee; three nieces, Geraldine Downs and husband John, Glenda Mills and husband Leonard all of Batesville, Maxine Woods and husband Lloyd of Velvet Ridge; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Eva (Wilkinson) Taylor; his second wife, Mirtie (Williams) Taylor; two brothers, Wilbert Taylor and Carlton Taylor; and two sisters, Zelphy Wolford and Norean George.
Funeral services were held Feb. 8 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Rev. Eugene Garner officiating. Burial followed in the Cave City cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Eric Downs, Ryan Downs, Stephen Downs, Fred Arnold, Allen Brown and Walter Brown.
William E. Cowden

William E. Cowden, 79, of Alton, formerly of Hardy, died Feb. 2, 2007, at the Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.
He was born on May 4, 1927, in Gillespie, Ill., the son of John and Mary (Hanley) Cowden.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked many years in the trucking industry and in construction. He moved to Hardy in 1976, and lived there until moving to Alton three years ago. He attended services at the Shekinah Tabernacle in Wirth, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Tenia Cowden of the home; one son, Johnny Cowden of Mundelein, Ill.; and a sister, Margaret "Peg" LaRose of Island Lake, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
The funeral services were held Feb. 6 at the Christian Tabernacle with Rev. Martin D. McComas officiating. Burial followed in the Eagles Rest cemetery at the church.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
