Dora M. Kronberger

Dora M. Kronberger, 92, of Ridgeway, Mo., formerly of Johnson County, died Monday, May 25, 2009, in Harrison County Hospital.

She was a daughter of the late Dave and Ollie Pearson Wadley, widow of Richard J. Kronberger, and member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by two daughters, D. Pauline Manwiller and husband, Gary, of Ridgeway, Mo., and Carol Ann Cook and husband, John, of Bristow, Okla.; one sister, Alma Watson of Clarksville; three step grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with John Ballard and Todd Rabalais officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.

Pallbearers were Elvin Brown, Stan Brown, John Chrisman, Bobby Mitchell, John Cook, and Marty Brown

Kensun F. Highfield

Kensun Fisher Highfield, infant son of Lindsay Buckner and Kenny Highfield of Paris, died Friday, May 22, 2009, in Clarksville.

Other survivors include one brother, Blaise Highfield; and grandparents, Greg and Sheri Buckner and Elsie Highfield of Paris.

Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, at Baxley cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

Lois Whorton

Lois Dale Whorton, 83, of London died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at her home.

She was a native of the Flat Rock Community, daughter of Virgil and Erma Bocksnick Dale, widow of Delmar Whorton, member of the Flat Rock Assembly of God, where she taught Sunday school for many years, member of the Piney Extension Homemakers Club, and was preceded in death by one son, Thurel Whorton; one daughter, Shelia Whorton; three brothers, Dow Price, Walt Dale and Ern Dale; and one sister, Inez Waldo.

Survivors include a son, Delbert Whorton of London; three grandchildren, Deborah Pierce of London, Wesley Whorton of Lamar and Kacey Whorton of London; two great-grandchildren, Kesley Talley of London and Mackenzie Whorton of Lamar; one brother, Espie Dale of London; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, May 29, at the Flat Rock Assembly of God Church with Pastor Ronnie Birge officiating.

Burial was at Price cemetery in London under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Robert Wayne Stepp

Robert Wayne Stepp, 52, of Clarksville died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at his home.

He was a native of Oark, son of the late Banner Stepp, Baptist, saw mill and Tyson Foods employee, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Stepp and Gary Stepp; and two sisters, Shirley Stepp and Phyllis Stepp.

Survivors include his mother, Hazel Lee Rylee Stepp of Clarksville; five sisters, Verdell Hill and husband, Leon, of Altus, Juanita Hill and husband, William, and Barbara Warren, all of Ozone, Carolyn Merkling and husband, Joe, of Oark, and Pamela Cannon and husband, Darrell, of Clarksville; and three brothers, Phillip (Jimbo) Stepp and wife, Patty, of Hartman, and Douglas Stepp and Marvin Stepp and wife, Darlene, all of Hunt.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the Oark Community Church with Rev. David Zeiler officiating.

Burial was in Oark cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Tony Marvel, Charlie Stepp, Sam Stokes, Kenny Stepp, Raymond Hogue, Eugene Hill, and Jake Hill.

Honorary pallbearers were Leon Hill, James Hogue, and Larry Hogue.

Sara Virginia Speidel

Sara Virginia Speidel, 71, of Coal Hill died May 18, 2009, at Ozark Nursing Home.

She was a native of Davenport, Iowa, daughter of the late Gerald P. Foster and Hildegard Frese Foster, widow of Joe Speidel III, pilot, sculptress, model, professional swimmer, author of children's stories, and of the Christian faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Lee Dunn of Coal Hill; one grandchild, Samantha Dunn of Coal Hill; one great-grandchild, Marshall Leon Dunn of Coal Hill; and sister, Hildegard Kilgore of Wichita, Kan.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the First Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Darrell Bridges officiating.

The body was cremated.

Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

W. Gene Norried Jr.

W. Gene Norried Jr., 28, of Coal Hill died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.

He was a self-employed construction laborer, avid hunter and fisherman, and son of the late Patricia Robinson Norried.

Survivors include his wife, Amber Hurst Norried; one stepdaughter, Sarah Hurst of Coal Hill; father, Gene Norried Sr. and stepmother, Karla Norried, of Van Buren; one brother, Chris Robinson of Rogers; maternal grandparents, Billy and Mary Viera of Rogers; one niece; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Ocker Memorial Chapel of Van Buren with burial at Coal Hill cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Monical, Sonny Schmidt, Davy Nichols, Paul Gene, Brian Elms, and Stacy Elms.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerald Marcum, Justin Broomfield, Joe Norried, David Norried, Gary Norried, and David Davidson.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren.

Dr. Billie H. Bagby

Dr. Billie Hudson Bagby, 89, of Lohman, Mo., died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born January 25, 1920, in Bexar, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles Thomas and Vollie May Stroud Hudson.

She was valedictorian of the 1936 class of Aurora High School and went on to earn degrees from the University of Southwest Missouri, Emory University, and a Ph.D. from Colorado State University.

She was united in marriage on October 17, 1943, in Aurora, Mo., to Dr. John R. Bagby, Jr., who survives at the home.

In 1969, Billie was named Math and Science Teacher of the Year in Atlanta, Georgia. She had a long public school teaching career at all grade levels through 8th grade in Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama, and Georgia. She later oversaw student teachers at Colorado State University. She has been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma honorary society for educators since 1961. She also was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Omicron Tau Theta.

She was a devoted wife and mother, a licensed pilot, an enthusiastic traveler throughout Africa, South America, and Europe. She was happiest surrounded by family and friends and loved lively conversation and political debate.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. John Bagby; daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Turner Whitson of Columbia, S.C; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Donna Bagby, Edmonds, WA; Tom and Pam Bagby, Russellville, AR. She had six grandchildren, Heather Whitson, Durham, NC; Caitlin Bagby, Little Rock, AR; Jillian and Colin Bagby, Russellville, AR; Troy Greenfield, Bainbridge Island, WA; and Brad Greenfield, Mukilteo, WA. She also had six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ann Downs and Cecile Hudson Metcalf; and a brother, Clyde Hudson.

A Celebration of Life Service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Friends of the Wolfner Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, P. O. Box 1671, Jefferson City, Mo 65102-1671.
