Billy Monroe Wilson

Billy Monroe Wilson, 56, a native of Bigelow and brother of Bobby Wilson of Ozone, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in Sneads Ferry, N. C.

He was a son of the late Delbert Wilson and Zelma Lane Wilson of Bigelow and was preceded in death by one sister, Exie Lafaye Wilson.

He is survived by three daughters, Sandra, Billie and Renea, all of North Carolina; two other brothers, Ricky Wilson of Union City, Okla., and James Darty of Clinton; one sister, Minnie Stanley of Clinton; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The body was cremated.

Carl Lee Wade

Carl Lee Wade, 77, of Ardmore, Okla., father of Kimberly Wade of Coal Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008.

He was a native of Dublin in Logan County, son of the late Elbert and Etta Mae Wade, farmer, and veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by six other daughters, Audrey Blount and Denise Wade, both of Ardmore, Okla., Priscilla McKeehan, Judy Lee and Lorra Lewallen, all of Altus, and Lisa Koster of Ashland, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren, Misty Elliott, Lewis and Shanlaina McConnell, Crystal, T. J. and Michael McKeehan, Zachariah Gates, Tina Stuffelbeam, Jenise Dixon, Samantha Smith, Amber, Rodney and Brittany Wade, Rusty Robison, David Pemberton and Hunter Skolarski; and ten great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Trevor, Tristan, Hayden, Logan, Kara, Harvey, Shadow, Mathias and Brianna.

Memorial graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 4, at Cheek cemetery in Long Grove, Okla.

Charles R. Skidgel

Charles Ralph Skidgel, 76, of Hartman died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Hartman, son of the late Thomas and Ollie Kilcrease Skidgel, member of the Church of Christ, lifetime member of the VFW, Army veteran of the Korean War, and was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Gene, Paul and John Skidgel; and two sisters, Parilee Morris and Patricia Maute.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Terrill Skidgel; one daughter, Freda Cordes and husband, Mike, of Bentonville; one sister, Mary Jo Morgan of Ozark; one brother, Thomas Skidgel of Clarksville; and two grandchildren, Faith Cordes of Fayetteville and Cordell Skidgel of Clarksville.

Memorial graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at West Mount Zion cemetery with Todd Rabalais officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Dolores M. Arthur

Dolores Marie Arthur, 81, of Clarksville died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a retired receptionist and mental health specialist, member of the Christian Church, and was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Gaston and Edith Charlotte Jones Gaston; husband, Gordon Sherwood Arthur; and one brother, Don Gaston.

She is survived by two daughters, Diana Lucas of Redwood, Calif., and Dawn Ringenback of Arnold, Md.; one son, John Arthur of Clarksville; one sister, Betty West of Maryland; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Ola E. Wilburn

Ola E. Wilburn, 85, of Knoxville died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Clarksville Health and Rehab.

A native of Elrod, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Anna Mitchell, graduate of Elrod High School, member of Pencil Bluff Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Wilburn; one daughter, Charlotte Light; one daughter-in-law, Bobbie Wilburn; and one brother, William Mitchell.

She is survived by two sons, Harold Wilburn of Fort Smith and Greg Wilburn and wife, Becky, of Knoxville; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Corinth Baptist Church cemetery in Gordo, Ala., with Rev. Donald Springer officiating. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Betty Faw

Betty Faw, 82, of Mount Ida, formerly of Johnson County, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, in Hot Springs.

She was a native of Oark, daughter of the late Mitchell and Norma Tate, widow of Henry Faw, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Coy Tate and Roy Tate; two sisters, Hattie Jacobs and Lillie Tate; and one great-grandchild, Austin Pentz.

She is survived by three sons, Danny Faw and wife, Cha, and Richard Faw and wife, Cathy, all of Lampasas, Texas, and James Pentz and wife, Jeannie, of Springdale; two daughters, Mary Ann Tucker and husband, Bill, of Benton and Roberta Sivley and husband, Gary, of Mount Ida; one sister, Ruby O'Neal of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the U. S. National cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements were under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Irmalee J. Smith

Irmalee Jordan Smith, 83, of Fort Smith died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, in Fort Smith.

She was a former house mother for the 4-H House at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, former employee in food service for the Mount Sequoyah Retreat Center in Fayetteville and the Johnson County Extension Service in Clarksville, and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Don E. and Paul M. Jordan.

Survivors include her husband, Carl W. Smith; two daughters, Leamae Brown Van Riper and husband, Dean, and Mary Elaine Brown Wilkins and husband, Charley, all of Fort Smith; one stepdaughter, Peggy Smith Pryor and husband, Jim, of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Ray W. Jordan of Gilbert; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the First Baptist Church. Private family interment will be in the Gilbert cemetery. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Edwards Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First Help Program, c/o First Baptist Church, 1400 Grand Avenue, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Jack Gilmer

Jack Gilmer, 60, of Perryville died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009.

He was a native of Montrose, son of the late David and Sybil Gilmer, and was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Gilmer.

Survivors include his mother, Sybil Gilmer of Clarksville, five sons, John Gilmer of Lamar, Shawn Gilmer of Clarksville, James Daniel (J.J.) Gilmer of Florida, and Ricky Dale Vick and Sherman Bentrum, both of Mississippi; eight grandchildren; and companion, Mary Taylor of Perryville.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Cherry Hill cemetery in Cherry Hill.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bishop-Griffin Funeral Home of Greenbrier.

Mildred L. Timmons

Mildred Lucille McKinney Timmons, 93, of Paris, aunt of Norma Lou Young and Jeannie Crowden of Clarksville, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009.

She was a daughter of the late R. J. and Martha Spillers McKinney, lifelong resident of Logan County, graduate of Paris High School, widow of Hanvy Timmons, retired employee of General Electric in Fort Smith, member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Caulksville, and preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Lou Tillery; one son-in-law, Jack Tillery; and one great-granddaughter, Jordan Grist.

Other survivors include one son, Bobby Timmons and wife, Margaret, of Paris; one sister, Ruth Levey of Bakersfield, Calif.; grandchildren, Letitia Bratcher and husband, Kevin, of Santa Fe, Texas, Robin Bell and husband, Brett, of Dover, Pa., Robert Timmons Jr. and Randy Bryant and wife, Toni, all of Deer Park, Texas, and Christy Grist and husband, Wayne, and Joey Kearney, all of Paris; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Roller Funeral Home with burial at McKendree cemetery at Subiaco.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Robert Timmons Jr., Wayne Grist, Kevin Bratcher, Randy Bryant, Brett Bell, and Charles Housewright, and great-grandsons, Jon and Stephen Bryant.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Jimmie Elzy, 307 E. Klan Street, Paris, AR 72855.
