Jane D. Young

Jane Dorothy Young, 86, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, in Fort Smith.

She was a native of Wilton, Conn., former resident of Norwalk, widow of Kenneth Young, and was preceded in death by one son, Gary Young.

Survivors include one son, Wayne, of Fort Smith; one grandson, Brandon Young of Carmel, Calif.; one brother, Patrick A. Wilcox of Saugatuck, Conn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation was under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Lorene Parks

Lorene Parks, 95, of Alma died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at her home.

She was a native of Hagarville, former employee of a garment factory in Wichita, Kan., kitchen at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville, and on farms in North Dakota and Oklahoma, and was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Buford Parks.

Survivors include one son, Bobby Freeman and wife, Marie, of Alma; one stepdaughter, Bonnie Anderson of Dayton, Ohio; and three stepsons, Harry Parks and wife, Katie, and Bob Parks, all of Dayton, Ohio, and Glenn Parks and wife, Carol, of Boring, Ore.; 32 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mary Ann Skaggs

Mary Ann Skaggs, 74, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at Clarksville Health and Rehab.

She was a daughter of the late Bert and Ida Lante Piacenza, widow of Cole C. Skaggs, Baptist, retired cook, and was preceded in death by one stepson, Corbin Faucett; and one brother, Egido Piacenza.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Harris of Antioch, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Anita Tudor of the United Kingdom and Victoria Stuard of Mira Loma, Calif.; three sons, James Hulsey and Michael Hulsey, both of Antioch, Calif., and Michael Skaggs of Clarksville; one sister, Nancy Grover of North Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Oark cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Somers, Mike Skaggs, Mike Hulsey, Tom Mingo, Ray Baker, and Eddie Skaggs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harley Freeman, Orbin Skaggs, Elbert Baker, and Dallas Skaggs.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Pope County Hospice.

Nettie Crabtree

Nettie L. Crabtree, 63, of Altus, mother of Rhonda Matlock of Knoxville, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Mountain Top, she was a daughter of the late George J. and Zenbea Schaffer Wilson, Catholic, and was preceded in death by one son, Keith Allen Matlock; and two sisters, Peggy Atteberry and Josephine Stover.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Crabtree; two other daughters, May Banhart of Altus and Frances Willoughby of Clinton; three sons, George Banhart of Altus, Dee Banhart of Blytheville, and Billy Mitchell of McFall, Mo.; five sisters, Anita Lawrence and Margie Huffman, both of McFall, Mo., Sally Bates of Springdale, and Dena May Page and Pam Campbell, both of Altus; three brothers, Johnny, Bobby and Danny Wilson, all of Altus; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The body was cremated under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Memorial services will be held by the family at a later date.

Richard Montreuil

Richard (Rick) Montreuil, 44, of Lamar died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at his home.

He was a native of New York, 1982 graduate of Lamar High School, and was preceded in death by his father, Robert Montreuil; and one brother, Raymond Montreuil.

Survivors include his mother, Catherine Montreuil of Lamar; one sister, Caroline Watkins of Lithia, Fla.; one brother, Robert Montreuil of Santee, Calif.; one niece, Lauren Maxwell of Florida; three uncles, Phil Mayer of Hartman and Joe Mayer and Leo Mayer, both of Clarksville; three aunts, Eileen Mammolitl of Clarksville, Eleanora Flynn of Florida, and Mary McMahon of New York; and numerous cousins.

The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Rick Lee Johnson

Rick Lee Johnson, 53, of Booneville, son of Richard and Hettie Johnson of Clarksville, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at his home.

He was an employee of Pacific Gas and Electric Company and was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ennons Johnson.

Other survivors include one daughter, Dawn Caviness of Van Buren; one son, Billy Johnson of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Holman cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Sidney Lester Howard

Sidney Lester Howard, 66, of Clarksville died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at his home.

He was a native of Fort Worth, Texas, son of the late William Jennings and Lora Bell Alexander Howard, and a cabinet maker.

He is survived by one daughter, Shari Farris of Alvord, Texas; two sons, Richard Howard of Denton, Texas, and Roger Howard and wife, Heidi, of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, William J. Howard; four grandchildren, Hope, Camille, Michelle and Madison; and two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Kylee.

The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Virgil A. Knight

Virgil A. Knight, 85, of Clarksville died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at North West Medical Center in Springdale.

A native of London, he was a son of the late Alfred and Maude Brown Knight, 1940 graduate of London High School, member and deacon of Second Baptist Church, 32nd degree Mason, member of Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 9, Army veteran of World War II, owner and operator of Knight Plumbing and Heating for several years, and was preceded in death by one sister, Rheba Decker.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frieda Sullivan Knight; one daughter, Vickie Walker and husband, Jim, of Conway; one son, Virgil Don Knight and wife, Tracie, of Springdale; one sister, Allene Dye of Owasso, Okla.; one brother, James (Jug) Knight of Russellville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Second Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Tom Dicus officiating.

Burial was in Price cemetery at London under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Trent Knight, Jevin Smith, Joe Hoing, Edwin Pearrow, Bruno Hampton, Lee Youngblood, Doyle Farmer, and Burley Shook.

Honorary pallbearers were Jack Phillips, Bill Coats, Clifford Metzker, and Duane Steele.

Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 709 Oak Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.
