Irma Lee Wharton

Irma Lee Wharton, 94, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, in Rogers.

She was a native of Hagarville, daughter of the late Ether Lee and Iva L. Smith Turner, widow of Elvan Wharton, member of Clarksville Chapter 172 Order of the Eastern Star and was a Rainbow Mother for several years.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sara Lee and Gary Bond of Rogers; two grandchildren, John Bond and wife, Jenny, of Marietta, Ga., and Lynn Bond of Rogers; and three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Bond, Mallory Bond, and John Brody Bond, all of Marietta, Ga.

Funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Regina Turner officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.

Pallbearers were Duane Steele, Bob Hurley, Vernon Harris, Vince Bond, Bobby Bond, and Danny Bond.

Raymond D. Troglin

Raymond D. Troglin, 57, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Knoxville, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, in a St. Louis, (Missouri) hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, G.D. and Sara Troglin of Russellville.

Survivors include his wife, Tamara Troglin; two brothers, David Troglin of Ozark and Morris Troglin of Conway; one sister, Linda Smith of Russellville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The body will be cremated.

Shirley M. Harp

Shirley Mable Harp, 61, of Dyer died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, in Clarksville.

A native of Hunt, she was the daughter of the late Ward and Lucy Miller Burgett, attended the New Bethel Assembly of God Church in Dyer, and was preceded in death by one son, Farris James Harp Jr.

Survivors include one daughter, Shelia Beckham of Dyer; and one sister, Matilda Rosson of Clarksville.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Dyer cemetery Arbor with burial under the direction of Ocker of Alma Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Kenneth and Aaron Rosson, Johnny Welch, Jason Rock, Gary Richey, Jonathan Smith, and Wayne Bush.

Virgie Lee Robinson

Virgie Lee Robinson, 81, of Oark died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Clarksville.

She was a native of Catalpa, daughter of the late Orville and Rosa Belle Cowan Robinson, Baptist, and preceded in death by one sister, Lurene Mayes.

She is survived by two sisters, Mozelle Cowan and Maxine Chesser, both of Clarksville; three nieces, seven nephews; and 25 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Farquhar officiating. Burial was in Russell cemetery at Ozone.

Active pallbearers were Craig Cowan, Robbie Peterson, Ricky Mayes, James Cox, Carl Cowan, and Charles Mayes.

Honorary pallbearers were Richard Mayes, Jeremy Mayes, Sam Mayes, Ernie Mayes, Scotty Peterson, Shane Keller, Clitis Cowan, Calvin Cowan, and Gordon Mayes.

Virginia Sue Heringer

Virginia Sue Heringer (Hardwicke) passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends, December 2, 2009, due to complications resulting from knee replacement surgery. Born in Clarksville, Arkansas, February 13, 1938, she moved to Southern California with her mother, Bernice, at age 19.

As a budget analyst for the California Employment Development Department, Sue worked in California's Central Valley, and then later in Sacramento where she retired after 25 years of service to the state. While in Sacramento, Sue was active in various civic activities to include the 50-50 club, wherein she served as its president in 1987.

Sue moved to Murrieta, California in 1998 and enjoyed the friendships she made while traveling, playing bingo and bunco; working out at the local karate studio where she had earned her Green Belt, and was preparing to test for her Purple Belt. Sue was very active in the Riverside-San Diego area Boston Terrier rescue: Boston Brigade Rescue. She served as the organization's chief financial officer, treasurer, and primary fundraiser. She owned 2 Boston Terriers herself, but managed to "foster" up to as many as 3 additional dogs at a time!

Sue is predeceased by her eldest son, John. She is survived by son, Roy, and 3 grandchildren, all living in the San Diego area. A celebration of life will be held February 6, 2010, 11:00-3:00, at the Temecula Embassy Suites, 29345 Rancho California Road, Temecula, CA 92591. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to make a donation to the Boston Brigade Rescue (www.bostonbrigade.com), or to one's favorite charity in Sue's name.

Arch Irvin Jr.

Arch Arlie Irvin Jr., 82, of Caulksville, father of Pat Childers of Clarksville, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009.

He was born at Caulksville to Bess (Workman) and Arch Arlie Irvin Sr., retired heavy equipment operator for the Blake Construction Company at Fort Chaffee, Navy veteran of World War II, Mason, member of the National Lodge No. 411 at Ratcliff, member and deacon of Paris Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Deleana Irvin; and one brother, James T. Irvin.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ruth Ann Irvin; three other daughters, Sandy Haney of Stilwell, Okla., Katie Hillian of Fort Smith, and Melone Gonzalez of the home; four sons, Larry Hillian of Fayetteville, Ron and Jim Irvin, both of Des Moines, Iowa, and Gary Irvin of Fort Smith; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Caulksville cemetery with Rev. Bill Van Meter and Dan Ray Core officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers were Mike and Michael Hillian, Elissa Finch, Bill Koch, Fermin Gonzalez, Dean Hughes, Jay Young and Ben Cooper.

Barbara Tyler

Barbara Tyler, 52, of Hartman died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Darline Daffern Bazemore; and one brother, Wayne Bazemore.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Tyler; three daughters, Rebecca Kvarda of Texarkana, Texas, Jessika Perkins of Rodessa, La., and Christy Bromley of Sheridan; three sons, Kenneth Kvarda, Josh Tyler, and Carl Tyler, all of Texarkana; two sisters, Susan Matthews and Waverly Braddock, both of Plano, Texas; one brother, Randy Bazemore of Kennadale, Texas; and 17 grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Chapelwood cemetery in Texarkana, Texas.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Jerry Lyn Whorton

Jerry Lyn Whorton, 44, of Russellville died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at his home.

He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Wanda Joan Kirkpatrick, attended the Gospel Tabernacle of Russellville, and was preceded in death by his stepmother, Martha Ann Whorton; and grandparents, Charlie and Mildred Kirkpatrick and Hattie Bennett.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, R. Jerry and Marilyn Whorton of Russellville; sister, Stephanie Thompson of Clarksville; brother, Todd Alan Whorton of Mountainburg; four stepbrothers, Alan Hardy and wife, Laura, of Gumlog, Mark Hardy and wife, Renee, of Hagarville, Randy Hardy and wife, Teri, of Pottsville, Mike Ross and wife, Paula, of Conway; two stepsisters, Kim Patterman and husband, Jeff, and Desiree Fischer and husband, Kirk, of Charlotte, N. C.; grandfather, Franklin Whorton and wife, Athena, of Cheney, Kan.; step-grandfather, Richard Bennett and wife, Shirley, of Shawnee, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Mickey Shields officiating.
