Shirley Ann Haynes
Shirley Ann Haynes, 71, of Scranton died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, in Paris.
She was a native of Des Moines, Iowa, Baptist, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Memory Furr; one son, Matthew Haynes; two brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include her husband, George Haynes; one son, Douglas Haynes of Smithville; two daughters, Janie Hall of Paris and Gay Lynn Pitts of Lamar; two sisters, Jenny and Loretta; 18 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Shady Grove cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of Bald Knob-Judsonia.
Vernon L. Harris Sr.
Vernon L. (Ned) Harris Sr., 86, of Hartman died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a carpenter, Army veteran, Baptist, son of the late Robert Wiley and Bessie Agness Nelson Harris, and was preceded in death by one sister, Lera Cowell.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Harris; two daughters, Elizabeth and husband, Lee Anglin, and Donna and husband, Donnie Hern Sr., all of Hartman; one son, Vernon Harris Jr. and wife, Belinda, of Hartman; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Cowell of Lamar; nine grandchildren, Johnny Anglin, Wayne Anglin, Marsha Moore, Donnie Hern Jr., Amanda Hern, Cory Hern, Shannon Stone, Brian Harris, and Kayla Harris; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grady Glass officiating. Burial will be in Kendall cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Anglin, Wayne Anglin, Donnie Hern Jr., Cory Hern, Brian Harris, and Jordon Hignite.
Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Ralph, Amos Reeves, and Fred James.
Virginia Ann Harvey
Virginia Ann (Gina) Johnson Harvey, 68, of Hartman died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home at Lamar.
She was a native of Altus, daughter of the late Imes and Anna Lowe Johnson, member of Fernwood Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Michael Scott Harvey.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Harvey; one son, Steve Harvey and wife, Michelle, of Owasso, Okla.; one sister, Jean Elkins and husband, Don, of Hartman; one brother, Bill Johnson of Hartman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Fernwood Assembly of God Church with Rev. Eddie Birdsong and Rev. Travis George officiating.
Burial was in Hartman cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Eddie Kimbriel, Lindy Harvey, Julius Mays, Dondi Elkins, Darby Johnson, and Allen Walker.
Members of the Lamar Bass Club served as honorary pallbearers.
Basil C. Brock
Basil C. (Joe) Brock died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at the age of 90, at his home.
He was born in Fresno, Calif., on Dec. 23, 1919, son of the late Basil C. and Jettie Brock, and sibling of the late Fyrl Gregg.
Basil and his family moved to Clarksville, AR in 1972, where he resided until his death. Basil served as a pilot for the Army Air Corp Class 43-D in WWII. After the war, he worked at Hughes aircraft. From there, he opened his own business in precision metal fabrication which remains in operation today.
Basil married
Francis Rusin on Feb. 14, 1959. He was an avid reader and a business man. Basil liked anything and everything western and entertained many with his dry wit and humor. Basil had something to say for everything. He had a very generous and kind spirit and gave back to many.
Basil is survived by his wife, Francis Brock of Clarksville; daughters, Debra Graves of California and Lisa Toth, and husband, Tony Toth, of Fort Smith, stepsons, Kenny Rusin and wife, Lucinda, of Fort Smith, Dale Rusin of California, and Bruce Rusin and wife, Mary, of California, 14 grandchildren and his late grandson, Scott Rusin; and eight great grandchildren.
A small service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 from, 1:00-3:30pm at the Brock residence.
Instead of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Arkansas Children's Home, P.O Box 427, Monticello, AR 71655.
Arrangements are by Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Coty Dean Mefford
Coty Dean Mefford, 19, of Springdale died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, in Clinton, Okla.
He was a native of Clarksville, member of Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God, and an employee of SESCO Seed Company in Hobart, Okla.
Survivors are his parents, Donald and wife, Amy, Mefford of Springdale and Vicky and husband, Daniel, Fontinel of Hobart, Okla.; one sister, Tyler Nicole Mefford of Springdale; one brother, Alex Cordell Skidgel of Clarksville; paternal grandfather, Don Mefford of Lamar; maternal grandfather, Bobby Hall of Clarksville; and numerous, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God with Rev. Terry Schlinker officiating.
Burial was in Lamar cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were William Hollingsworth, Blair Hatch, Aaron Skidgel, Ashley Duncan, Scottey Moore, and Cody Doughty.
Honorary pallbearers were Alex Cordell Skidgel and Dylan Sparks.
Freddy Hutchison
Freddy Lee Hutchison, 64, of Van Buren, whose sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Tom Justice, reside in Clarksville, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010.
He was a native of Webb City, former resident of Ozark, son of the late Fredrick L. and Dorothy I. Smith Hutchison, member of First Christian Church of Ozark, retired Arkansas Valley Electric employee, and was preceded in death by his wife, Nyla D. Felcher Hutchison.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra D. Lingo and husband, Ronnie, of Van Buren; one son, Kevin Hutchison of Ozark; one other sister, Wanda Brewer and husband, Alvin (Shorty), of Ozark; four grandchildren, Chris Long and wife, Lacy, Colby Hutchison, Caitlin Hutchison, and Hope Lingo; two step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Memorial graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Highland cemetery in Ozark with Dr. Jim Mattson and Rev. Ted Darling officiating.
Jeremy Ryan Delrio
Jeremy Ryan Delrio, 34, of Lamar died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near the intersection of Highway 109 and Crawford Street in Clarksville.
He was a native of Clarksville, graduate of Westside High School, employee of Cloyes Gear, and preceded in death by one brother, Joey Fowler.
He is survived by two daughters, Ryan Delrio and Elizabeth Delrio, both of the home; two sons, Logan Judah and Jacob Delrio, both of the home; mother, Sheila Ragsdale of Lamar; father, Joseph Delrio of West Monroe, La.; maternal grandparents, Laura and Clint Kelley of Hunt and Bill Stewart of Jacksonville, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Gloria Delrio of West Monroe, La.; two sisters, Heather Delrio and Nikki Delrio, both of West Monroe, La.; three brothers, Joshua Delrio and sister-in-law, Christina, and Jay Fowler, all of Lamar, and Joseph Delrio of West Monroe, La.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and companion, Stacey Mize of Lamar.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Lamar Baptist Church with Rev. John Griffin officiating.
Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Joseph Delrio, Josh Delrio, Jay Fowler, Senica Henderson, Johnny Hern, and Brandon Southard.
