Velma Hardcastle Lee
Velma B. Hardcastle Lee, 91, of Dover died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at Little Rock.
She was a native of Lamar, daughter of the late Floyd and Jessie Cude Hardcastle, widow of N. J. Lee, member of the Lee's Chapel Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Lee.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeannie Robinson and husband, Melvin, of St. Francisville, La., and Monna Stiles and husband, Marc, of Little Rock; one sister, Euna Dickey of Russellville; seven grandchildren, Hunter Botts, Stephanie Clarke, Michael Lee, Jeff Lee, Sonya Gallegos, Melissa Stiles and Mike Stiles; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the Lee's Chapel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Amos Pledger and Rev. Dewayne Holland officiating.
Burial will be in Annie's Chapel cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Hunter Botts, Michael Lee, Jeff Lee, Mike Stiles, Michael Clarke, Steven Smith and Lyndon Lee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sherman Payne, Don Freeman, Don Moak, Leroy Shatwell, Dickey Shatwell, Pearl Freeman, Thelma Smith, Linda Dotson and Paul Pledger.
Christine Gray
Christine Gray, 77, a resident of Lamar, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at her home.
She was born May 31, 1932, at Fallsville, Arkansas to James Riley and Maggie Everlyn Nuchols Case. She was a quality checker for the Sara Lee Hosiery Company in Clarksville for 23 years. She enjoyed horseback riding, her cats, and picnics, and was a member of Restoration Church in Russellville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emmett E. Gray; and two brothers, John William and Argus “Pete” Case.
Survivors include a brother, Rufus Case of Russellville; a sister, Geraldine Rogers of Russellville; and numerous nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Restoration Church, 2349 South Elmira Avenue, Russellville, Arkansas 72802, with the Rev. James Findley officiating. Burial will be in the Knoxville cemetery at Knoxville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Brent Brady, Gene Brady, Donnie Rector, Donald Birge, James Martin, and Craig Keim. Honorary pallbearer will be Wesley Case.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Alicia Ann Wyatt
Alicia Ann Wyatt, 53, of Branch, sister of Phillip Wyatt of Clarksville, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, in Charleston.
She was a native of Charleston, daughter of the late Dorothy (Chastain) and John Wyatt Sr., attended the First Baptist Church in Branch, and was preceded in death by one brother, John Wyatt.
Survivors include two sisters, Shirley Cox of Little Rock and Barbara Lovell of Fort Smith; and two other brothers, Jim Wyatt of Fort Smith and Bill Wyatt of Van Buren.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the First Baptist Church in Branch with Rev. Roy Lovell and Rev. Tim Hobbs officiating.
Burial was at Hampton cemetery north of Branch under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home of Charleston.
Pallbearers were family members.
Carol E. Yandell
Carol Evageline Yandell, 71, of Clarksville died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.
She was a daughter of the late James and Alberta Trew and member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville where she served for many years in various capacities including director of children's choir and numerous other roles within the children's ministry. As a retired teacher, she began her teaching career in Connecticut as a public school teacher and then as a guidance counselor. After moving to Clarksville, she was employed at the University of the Ozarks as program coordinator for what is now the Jones Learning Center prior to becoming an associate professor of child development from 1980-2003. She also served as director of the Mustard Seed and Helping Hands community projects for 15 years. She was preceded in death by one sister, Connie Posey; and one brother, Royal James Trew.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Archie Yandell; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Jim Rehanek of Jenks, Okla., Colleen and Kenneth Rodonski of Clarksville, Connie and Jerry Douglas of Wichita, Kan., and Coral and Sam Gould of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren, Nikki Boggs and Matthew Rodonski, both of Fort Smith, Michelle Irwin of Newport News, Va., Ashley, Kevin, Melissa and Shannon Douglas of Wichita, Kan., Joshua Rehanek of Jenks, Okla., and Alex, Katie and Connie Gould of Clarksville; two great-grandchildren, Taison Silas and Aaron Rodonski; one sister, Marilyn McGrath; and one brother, Robert Trew.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville with Rev. David Hanshaw officiating.
The body was cremated. The cremation remains burial will be at the Bethlehem cemetery at a later date.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Cecil Hudson
Cecil Hudson, 89, of Clarksville died Friday, February 26, 2010, at home.
Born February 1, 1921, he was the son of the late Oliver Langley and Viola Ford Hudson. He was raised in the Woodland Community. An Army veteran of World War II and former owner of Hudson Candy Company, he was known locally as the Candy Man to lots of people. He was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church and Harmony Masonic Lodge 433 and a 32nd degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Genevieve Overbey Hudson; a son-in-law, Ron Tomasich; nephew, Robert Hudson; sister, Juanita King; brother, Reece Hudson; and brother-in-law, Jim Dickerson whom he loved like a brother.
Survivors are three daughters, Brenda See of Spring, Texas, Diane Cornett and husband, Keith, of Harrison, and Peggy Rills and husband, Barry, of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren, Sherry, Lynda and Tammy of Houston, Texas, and Jonathan and Sarah Riggs of Baton Rouge, La.; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Winnie Dickerson of Clarksville; and one brother, Alton Hudson of Fort Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Cherry Street Baptist Church.
Visitation was from 6-7 p.m. Monday, March 1, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Gary Patrick Blackard
Gary Patrick Blackard, 63, of Clarksville passed away on February 25, 2010.
Pat was born June 6, 1946, to C.O. (Bug) and Mamie Dougan Blackard and proud sisters and brother, Juanita, Almeta, Rita, Ann, C.O., Phyllis, and later joined by his little sister, Judy. As a boy, Pat loved to hunt and fish, something he never outgrew.
Pat graduated from Hartman High School in 1964 and attended The College of the Ozarks.
He married
the love of his life, Hylda Pierce, on February 20, 1965. Together they built a wonderful life and family that included three daughters, Stephanie, Sheila and Patti Kaye.
A welder by trade, he used his skills to do much more than earn a living. Pat volunteered to help family and friends with projects frequently. An example of his talent can be seen from when he helped a good friend bring to life a symbol of faith. You may have noticed it, it's the cross that is seen while driving east on I-40 near Mulberry.
Pat played as hard as he worked. He enjoyed playing softball, riding his Harley, hunting and fishing. But the thing that brought him the most enjoyment was time spent with his grandchildren, Conor, Rooster, Gidget, Buddy-Rough, and Patrick.
He was an active member and deacon of Second Baptist Church in Clarksville.
Because of the decision Pat made to accept the gift of salvation, on February 25, 2010 when his journey on this earth ended, his eternal journey began in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Pat is survived by his wife of 45 years, Hylda Pierce Blackard; three daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Steve Habenicht of Little Rock, Sheila and Ric Academia of Kona, Hawaii, and Patti and Greg Alexander of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren, Conor and Seth Patrick Habenicht of Little Rock, Grace Academia of Kona, Hawaii, and Grayson and Patrick Alexander of Plano, Texas; one brother, C.O. Blackard Jr. of Clarksville; five sisters, Juanita Ehren of Clarksville, Rita Daniel of Hot Springs Village, Ann Dorman of Gruver, Texas, Phyllis Sparks of New Boston, Texas, and Judy Hardgrave of Clarksville; a multitude of treasured nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents, C.O. and Mamie Dougan Blackard and one sister, Almeta Yerby of Van Buren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, March 1, at Second Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Tom Dicus and Rev. Allan Greer officiating.
Burial was in Union Grove cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were John Crockett, John Brown, John Callahan, Steve Habenicht, Ric Academia and Greg Alexander.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Second Baptist Church.
Visitation was from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
