Jesus Gomez
Jesus Gomez, infant son of Cesar and Sandra Gomez of Clarksville died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
Other survivors include two brothers, Cesar I. Gomez and Anthony Gomez, both of Clarksville; and grandparents, Candelario Gomez and Anastacia Vacio of Mexico and Guillermina and Alfredo Vargas of Clarksville.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Holy Redeemer cemetery with Father William Wewers officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Katie Diane Nagel
Katie Diane Nagel, 20, of Grand Blanc, Mich., granddaughter of Reba Nagel of Coal Hill, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was a native of Commerce Township, Mich., former resident of Holly and Fenton, Mich., graduate of Fenton (Michigan) High School, employed by Kentucky Fried Chicken in Howell, Mich., and was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Thomas Hurst and Donald Nagel.
Other survivors are her parents, Gary and Karen (Hurst) Nagel of Holly, Mich.; two sisters, Shanyn Nagel of Highland, Mich., and Kristen Nagel of Magazine; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Fenton Chapel of Sharp Funeral Homes.
Memorials may be made to the Katie Diane Nagel Memorial Fund.
Laudell Fetters
Laudell Fetters, 72, of Clarksville died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at his home.
He was a native of Lamar, son of the late Loyd and Inez Childers Fetters, construction employee, Army veteran, member of Ebenezer Mission, and was preceded in death by one son, James Dean Killough; and three sisters, Ruby Fetters Holman, Mary Woodard, and Linda Hutchins.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Fetters; one daughter, Lisa Sanez of McAllen, Texas; two sons, Daniel Fetters of Germany and Dennis Fetters of Fort Riley, Kan.; four sisters, Willia Faye Hutchins, Cathy Denn and Brenda Gilbert, all of Clarksville, and Arnetta Scruggs of Mississippi; four brothers, Earl Fetters of Lamar, and Curtis Fetters, Steve Fetters, and Joe Fetters, all of Clarksville; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Melvin Bankhead officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Travis Fetters, Lance Fetters, Jonathan Fetters, Dustin Fetters, Wesley Fetters, David Bostwick, William Smith, Brian Fetters, Wendell Woodard, and Jerry Woodard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hutchins, Charles McCarley, Norman Smith, Arron Arnold, and Freddy Freeman.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p. m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Nelson Young
Nelson Young, 50, of Knoxville, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
He was a native of Paris, son of the late Holmon Young and was preceded in death by one sister, Mae Pearl McGrath.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Young; five children, Amanda Crain of Gray, Tenn., William Young of Paris, and Rufus Young, Rebecca Young and Zachary Young, all of Knoxville; six grandchildren, Jeramiah Crain, Cierra Crain, Noah Crain, Sabrina Young, Aiden Young and William Young II; mother, Janie Young; one brother, Ralph Young of Paris; and one sister, Darlene Blalock of Paris.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Richard Snyder officiating. Burial was at Mount Carmel cemetery.
Reba Nell Shatswell
Reba Nell Shatswell, 68, of Lamar died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
The daughter of the late Scott and Lillian Crutchfield Shatswell, she was a native of Lamar and preceded in death by one grandson, Caleb Portugal.
She is survived by six children, Dr. Danny Aquilar and wife, Jennifer, and Leslie Portugal and wife, Naomi, all of Russellville, Jessie Portugal of Indiana, Manual Portugal of Ohio, Johnny Aquilar of California, and Sherri Portugal of Missouri; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nathan Aquilar and Leston, Lessica and Charlie Portugal; one sister, Sue Garcia of California; and two brothers, Marion Shatswell of Idaho and Dwayne Odell of California.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Dudley Zerbel officiating. The body will be cremated.
Ruth C. McCartney
Ruth Cline McCartney, 62, of Ozark died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Fort Smith.
She was an umpire for many years in area youth and adult softball, enjoyed flea marketing, was born July 17, 1946, in Altus, AR, to Thelbert and Marie Estep Cline, and was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Sheila Lynn McCartney.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth McCartney of Ozark; two daughters, Dean Larsen of Ozark and Tammy Ferguson and husband, Don, of Dover, AR; two sons, Travis McCartney and Brian McCartney, both of Ozark; five sisters, Lois Covert of Lawrence, KS, Ruby Shepard of Winslow, AR, Flois McDonner of Clarksville, AR, Betty Richard of Altus, AR, and Esther Pledger of Ozark; four brothers, Travis Cline of Clarksville, AR, Jim Cline of Altus, and Ricky Cline and Tim Cline of Ozark; and four grandchildren, Sondra Larsen, Erica Ferguson, Sara Ferguson and Alexis McCartney.
Funeral was at 2 p.m.Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial in Gar Creek cemetery at Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Keith Richard, J. J. McCartney, Dennis Pledger, Derrick McCartney, Billy McCartney, Gaylon Cline and Kevin Shepard.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry McCartney, Leland Hall, Eddie McCartney and Jimmy McCartney.

Shirley Mae Miracle
Shirley Mae Miracle was the only child of William Howard and Scottie Earldon (Gould) Miracle (both of Johnson County.) Shirley Mae was born on July 25, 1935, in El Paso, Texas, and passed away on Friday, Jan. 30, in Clarksville.
This beloved, healthy and normal daughter was tragically incapacitated in July 1945, due to surgical complications. Shirley Mae was totally cared for by her parents until she was admitted to the Countryside Manor in May 1983, where she resided until her passing last week.
"She was like a person in a dream."
Services were Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Hardwicke Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Usery and Rev. Burnett King officiating. Burial was at the Harmony cemetery.
Pallbearers were Paul Gotcher, Pat Gotcher, Kenney Elkins, Richard Burkes, and Jimmy Gould.
Thomas L. Gindler
Thomas Louis Gindler, 47, of Lamar died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009.
He was a native of Los Angeles, Calif., son of the late Nancy Grobark Gindler, member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, served in the National Guard for six years, employee of the Corps of Engineers for 19 years and was a chief engineer on a tow boat for the Corps of Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Gindler; two daughters, Adrienne Gindler and Bridgett Reynolds, both of Lamar; three sons, Chad Acord of Lamar, and James Randall and Mike Randall, both of Little Rock; father, Louis H. Gindler of Lamar; father, Delbert Wynn and wife, Charlotte, of Colorado; mother, Terri Eastman of Colorado; three sisters, Cathy Stalcup and husband, Benji, of Lamar, Jana Eastman of Denver, Colo., and Melissa Mendoza; three brothers, Randy Wynn, Rick Wynn, and Rob Wynn, all of Denver, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father William Wewers officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Redeemer cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be James Randall, Mike Bagley, Joe Palmer, Clint Vinson, Tommy Guther, and Jason Rhinehart.
