Vera B. Edmonson

Vera Bell Edmonson, 91, of Scranton died Friday, May 23, 2008, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.

She was a daughter of the late Henry Herman and Arah Parker Swindle, widow of Oren A. Edmonson, formerly displayed Home Interior home products, former employee of Crest Fruit Company in McAllen, Texas, member of Southside Baptist Church in Paris where she was also a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, and former member of First Baptist Church in McAllen, Texas where she served as Women's Missionary Union leader. She was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Vanderslice, and one step-daughter, Marie Love.

Survivors include one sister, Esta Lee Edmonson of Scranton; four nephews; and five nieces.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Neil Edmonson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Mausoleum in McAllen, Texas.

Memorials may be made to Gideons.

Joe R. Stockton

Joe Stockton born Oct. 26, 1937 and returned to his loving Creator on 5-25-08.

Joe Stockton was the son of the late Earl and Bonnie Stockton of Alma, AR. A graduate of Alma High School, Joe attended the University of Arkansas where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. In 1959, he joined the Army where he was promoted to Captain for the Special Artillery Division while stationed in West Germany. After his honorable discharge in 1964, Mr. Stockton went back to the U of A where he enrolled in graduate school and received a Masters Degree in Mathematics. After graduating, Joe secured a position as a Computer Programming Analyst with Science Applications International Corporation located in Oakridge, TN, where he went on to contribute to many successful projects with various large clients.

Joe retired in 1998 and moved back to Arkansas, seeking a slower lifestyle, surrounded by nature and friends; but little did he know God's plan when he found his new wife and extended family.

Joe Stockton is survived by his wife Elvira Stockton and two daughters: Donna Stockton of Atlanta, Ga., Debbie Sadler and her husband, Bob, of Little Rock, AR, and two grandsons, Jake and Hunter Sadler. He will also be greatly missed by his stepchildren, Thomas and Kelley Montgomery of Siloam Springs, AR, John Montgomery of West Fork, AR, Jeff and Diane Cramer, and Aaron and Sabrina Bewley of Fayetteville, AR, and all eight grandchildren.

A private memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, May 31.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the AR Dept. of Health Hospice, 22 Sherwood Plaza, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Carolyn Loaskie

Carolyn Loaskie, 51, of Alix died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at a local hospital.

She was a former employee of Wal-Mart and was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Loaskie; and one granddaughter, Jenna Abagail Mendenhall.

She is survived by two daughters, Becky Zimmerman and husband, Mike, of Belleville, and Jennifer Mendenhall and husband, Kenneth, of Van Buren; four sisters, Gertie Taylor, Peggy Davis, Mary McClain and Alta Mullins, all of Van Buren; three brothers, Leon Bentley of Van Buren, John Bentley of Arkoma, Okla., and Bobby Bentley of Mountainburg; and two grandchildren, Michael Zimmerman Jr. of Belleville and Kenna Mendenhall of Van Buren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery at Van Buren.

Active pallbearers were Bobby Bentley, Mark Mendenhall, John Miller, Don Miller, Jake Bentley and Jeremy Bentley.

Honorary pallbearers were family members.

Deric Ray Kropf

Deric Ray Kropf, 3, beloved son of Jake and Doreen Kropf of Clarksville, Arkansas, was born Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at Fayetteville, Arkansas. He died Sunday, August 17, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville, Arkansas, from heart complications.

He leaves to mourn his early departure, his sorrowing parents, four brothers and two sister, Rylan, Randyn, Daryn, Danielle, Danae, and Rustyn, all of the home; his paternal grandparents, Jacob and Shirley Kropf of Sedalia, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Lyle and Ethel Hostetler of Shelbyville, Missouri; and maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Hostetler of Clarksville, Arkansas.

Deric is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Darlene Kropf; three uncles, Kevin Kropf, Tom Hostetler and Marvin Kropf; and five cousins, Tracey, Troyce and Tyler Kropf and Jewell and Amber Hostetler.

Visitation hours will be from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at the Mennonite School on Highway 164, near Hartman. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at the Clarksville Church of Christ on west Highway 64 with Lyle Hostetler, Clifford Hostetler, Wilbert Kropf and Jacob Kropf officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony A. M. cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jake Kropf Jr., Rylan Kropf, Randyn Kropf and Daryn Kropf.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harmony Amish/Mennonite Church, 3962 CR 3171, Hartman, Arkansas 72840.

All arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville (479) 754-2201.

Ivory Mae Brewer

Ivory Mae Wagers Brewer, 89, of Clarksville died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008.

She was a native of Irvine, Ky., daughter of the late Beverly Thomas and Bessie Ball Wagers, widow of Boyd Victor Brewer, and was preceded in death by an infant sister, Nina Ruth Wagers.

She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn S. Gould and husband, James, of Clarksville; two sons, Milburn D. Brewer of Stillwater, Okla., and James V. Brewer of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Stanley Wagers and wife, Cyrene, of Middletown, Ohio; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step grandsons; six step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Oakwood cemetery in Wewoka, Okla., under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Violet L. Adams

Violet L. Adams, 73, of Ozone died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, in Plainfield, Ind.

She was a daughter of the late Oral Henry and Sally Wheeler Adams, attended Salus Free Holiness Church, and was preceded in death by her stepfather, Manley Warren.

Survivors include seven sisters, Lillian Murry of Lamar, Eileen Hopkins and husband, Gailard, of Udall, Kan., Iva Sory and husband, Carl, of Ozone, Ava Provence and husband, Kenny, of Adair, Okla., Nadene Clayton and husband, David, of Indianapolis, Ind., Darlene Sullivan and husband, Don, of Plainfield, Ind., and Patty McElhany and husband, George, of Clayton Ind.; three brothers, Robert Adams and wife, Betty, of Udall, Kan., Jim Adams and wife, Helen, of McPherson, Kan., and Leroy Adams and wife, Jennett, of Udall, Kan.; two stepsisters, Juanita and Irene, both of Kansas; and three stepbrothers, Doc Bobby Warren of Clarksville, Kenny Warren of Texas, and Delbert Warren of Washington.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Salus Free Holiness Church with Rev. Robert Boen and Rev. Larry Willis officiating.

Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Udall cemetery in Udall, Kan.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Craig Hopkins, Greg Plummer, Ryan Warren, Darren Terry, Joshua McElhaney, and Jim Shahan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Murray, Chad Hopkins, Brad Adams, and Aaron Adams.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Mary Ruth Rimmer

Mary Ruth Rimmer, 84, of Van Buren, formerly of Clarksville, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at a local nursing home.

She had been a resident of Van Buren since 1977, a retired secretary, and member of Van Buren First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, W. J. Rimmer; two daughters, Lynette Gore of Bartlesville, Okla., and Jeane Perkins and husband, Bob, of Van Buren; one son, James Rimmer of Naperville, Ill.; one sister, Mildred Sherril of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, Regan Paulsmeyer.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, David Gore, Jason Paulsmeyer, Austin Roberts, Wade Perkins, Bryan Rimmer, and Caleb Rimmer.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Ocker Funeral Home at 700 Jefferson Street in Van Buren.
