Victor E. Crowden

Victor Eugene Dubbs (Big Boy) Crowden, 84, of LaRussell, Mo., died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at his home.

A native of Lamar, he was a son of the late Isaac Rush and Anna Belle Killough, served in the U. S. Army, former resident of Wichita, Kan., where he was employed by Cessna Aircraft and later retired from H&H Aircraft Parts, and was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie F. Randles Crowden; two grandsons, C. Brian McLean and Victor Chance Radcliff; one brother, Herbert Rush Crowden; and two sisters, Polly E. Jennings and Ellen McCarley.

Survivors include three daughters, Joann Radcliff, Sandra J. Artelt and Carla S. Knipp and husband, Larry, all of Wichita, Kan.; one son, David McLean of Toronto, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Isaac Richard Crowden of Lamar and Norman Thomas Crowden of Clarksville; one sister, Emmajean Crotts of Mulvane, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral and burial were in LaRussell, Mo., under the direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home of Sarcoxie, Mo.

Lori L. Wells

Lori L. Wells, 45, of Mabelvale, formerly of Clarksville, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.

She was a native of San Diego, Calif., daughter of the late Max D. and Gladys Bentley Wells, and graduate of Chula Vista (California) High School.

She is survived by caretaker, Joe T. Gibson; grandparent, Aldine Dege of Clarksville; one sister, Michelle Wilkerson of Clarksville; one brother, Max Dale Wells Jr. of California; and one niece, Robin Wilkerson of Clarksville.

The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Rebecca Ann Pierce

Rebecca Ann Pierce (Davis), 66, of Clarksville, Arkansas, began her celebration of life on April 19, 2008. She was born to the late Loman “Shorty” and Evelyn Davis, at Malvern, Arkansas. She was an instructor at the Arkansas Beauty College in Russellville, Arkansas, for 23 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her flower gardens, and shopping with her daughters. She was affiliated with the Assembly of God faith.

Becky is survived by her husband of 47 years, John “J. P.” Pierce, of Clarksville; one son, Mike Pierce of Clarksville, Arkansas; two daughters, Kim Pearson and her husband, Jimmy, of Clarksville, Arkansas; and Michelle Bratton and her husband, Gary, of Pottsville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Pierce and his wife, Kelly, of Danville, Arkansas, Carol Ann West and her husband, Chris, of Ozark, Arkansas, Tyler Pearson and Baylor Pearson, both of Clarksville, Arkansas, Cade Coffman and Carlee Coffman, both of Pottsville, Arkansas, and Tate Bratton of Pottsville; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Reverend Walter Davis of Jackson, Mississippi and Jeff Davis and his wife, Nancy, of Malvern, Arkansas; three sisters, Carolyn Davis and her husband, Dewayne, of Tupelo, Miss., Pat Kirkendoll and her husband, Gary, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Angie Henderson and her husband, Curt, of Malvern, Arkansas.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God in Clarksville, Arkansas, with Reverend Walter Davis and Reverend Terry Schlinker officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland cemetery of Clarksville, Arkansas.

All arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.

Jessie Cleo Acord

Jessie Cleo Acord, 85, of Ozark died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Ozark.

She was a daughter of the late Lon and Lena Keith, widow of Erick Z. Acord, member of River Valley Community Church in Ozark, and was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Don Acord; six sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include one daughter, Vicki Waldon of Rogers; three sons, Paul Acord of Ozone, Gary Acord of Ozark, and Tim Acord of Rogers; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark. Burial will be in cemetery Ridge cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Davis, Joe Kennedy, Jackie Keith, Jim Acord, Lonnie Tolbert, and Greg Wilhite.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of River Valley Community Church of Ozark.

Memorials may be made to River Valley Community Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 697, Ozark, AR 72949.

Jayme Lea Koch

Jayme Lea Koch, 43, of New Blaine died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was office manager at Wood Tire in Clarksville, member of the First Assembly of God Church in Russellville, and an Army veteran.

Survivors include her husband, Darrell Koch; father, John Wood of Clarksville; mother, Carole Wood of North Little Rock; one brother, Jerry Wood of North Little Rock; four sisters-in-law, Janelle Stall of Clarksville, Evelyn Huck and Laura Huck, both of Springdale, and Diane Koch of Scranton; one brother-in-law, Kevin Koch of Scranton; 17 nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; a special friend, Trenell Terry of North Little Rock; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eberhart and Aileen Koch of Scranton.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at the First Assembly of God Church in Russellville with Rev. Ronnie Morris and Randy McCain officiating.

Burial was in Mount Vernon cemetery near Clarksville under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were John Wayne Wood, Kevin Wood, Trenell Terry, Kevin Koch, Ryan Rogers, and Ron Kremers.

Honorary pallbearers were lifelong girl friends, Michelle Bacchus, Shari Koch, Tanya Carlton and Cindy Allison.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Katherine E. Mead

Katherine E. Mead, 90, of Ozark died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Ozark Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Lora Green of Ozark and Janie Reeves of Clarksville; three sons, Leo Robertson of Theodore, Ala., Allan Robertson of Muskogee, Okla., and Jay Robertson of Puyallup, Wash.; one brother, Dee Dawkins of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jan Akins officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.

William Whitehead

William Albert Rinker Whitehead, 75, of Coal Hill died Friday, April 18, 2008, at his home.

He was born in New Jersey, son of the late Horace and Helen Rinke Whitehead, retired carpenter, member of St. John’s Catholic Church at Russellville, and was preceded in death by one son, Billy Whitehead.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Gunter and husband, Harry, and Connie Flanery, all of Russellville, and Anne Marie Duncan and husband, Brian, of Branson, Mo.; one son, Robert Whitehead of Russellville; one sister, Genevieve Taylor of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Stacy Nabours of Pottsville, Charles Gunter and Katrina Gunter, both of Russellville, Chad Whitehead of Springfield, Mo., and David Duncan and Elisa Duncan, both of Branson, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Haylee Nabours and Trayton Nabours, both of Pottsville, and Abilgail Jackson of Dardanelle; and companion, Ruby D. Taylor.

The body was cremated.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Bobby Scott Watson

Bobby Scott Watson, 47, of Fort Smith, a native of Clarksville, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at a Fort Smith hospital.

He was an EMT for Sebastian County, ham radio operator, member of Midland Heights Methodist Church, and did volunteer work for Aurora Organ Donation and the American Red Cross.

Survivors include one daughter, Brandy of Fort Smith; two sons, Alex and Jeffery, both of Fort Smith; mother, Sue Watson of Fort Smith; father, Bob Watson of Booneville; aunt, Joann Massengale of Clarksville; and uncle, Dean Watson of Fort Smith.

Funeral was Monday, April 14, at Fort Smith with burial at West Mount Zion cemetery near Hartman.

Pallbearers were Clint Smith, Ricky Curry, Dale Sexton, and Greg Donaldson.
