Roy Leon Graves
Roy Leon Graves, 85, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at his home.
A native of Mt. Levi, he was a son of the late Jesse Monroe and Hattie Clemontine Patterson Graves, member of the Clarksville First Assembly of God Church where he served as deacon, retired U. S. Forestry Service employee, World War II corporal having served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe where he received five Bronze Service Stars, and was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy E. Graves; and three brothers, Austen U. Graves, Harvey N. Graves and Stephen Verlon Graves.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Elizabeth Boen Graves; three sons, James Graves and wife, Ruth, Ralph Graves and wife, Susan, and Mark Graves and wife, Deborah, all of Clarksville; one daughter, Elise Cameron and husband, Terry, of Clarksville; two brothers, William Graves and wife, Louise, of Hagarville and Jesse Graves and wife, Betty, of Fort Smith; one sister, Martha E. Rutledge of Hagarville; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Hagarville cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Brandon Graves, Eric Graves, Chris Graves, Jeremy Cameron, David Graves and Josh Auterson.
Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Fontaine, Stewart Cole and William Monroe Rutledge.
Dr. John W. Stilley
Dr. John W. Stilley, 93, of Flagstaff, Ariz., native of Knoxville and former music teacher at the University of the Ozarks, died Saturday, June 23, 2007.
He received a bachelor's degree in music from Oklahoma Baptist University, a master's degree in music and a D.D.S. from Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill., served in the U. S. Navy and after being decommissioned from the Naval Dental Corps, he practiced dentistry in Flagstaff, Ariz., until his retirement in 1988. He served as a representative in the Arizona Legislature for two years, the Flagstaff School Board for 14 years and was on the board of the Chamber of Commerce.
He built the organ at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany and served as the organist and choir director for 40 years. He also designed the large organ in Ardrey Auditorium at Northern Arizona University. He was a 40-year member and past president of the Kiwanis Club, one of the founders of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra and the Flagstaff Summer Festival, served on the board of the Raymond Foundation, was appointed by the governor to serve on the Arizona Commission for the Arts and was elected "Citizen of the Year" by the Arizona Daily Sun in 1968.
Survivors include his wife Marie A. Bell Stilley; three sons, Peter, Tom and David, all of Flagstaff, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at The Episcopal Church of Epiphany followed by graveside services.
Herman Loy Einert
Herman Loy Einert, 81, of Clarksville died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Herman Lee and Veronia E. Officer Einert, native of Lamar, Baptist, Army veteran, retired employee of Bibler Brothers Lumber Company in Russellville, and was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Joyzelle Pratt Einert.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Wise and husband, John, of Claysville, Pa., and Iretha Edwards and husband, Jeff, of Lowell; three sons, Staylon Einert and wife, Christi, Stan Einert and wife, Karen, and Johnny Einert, all of Clarksville; one brother, Bill Einert of Ozone; two stepdaughters, Edna Cassity of Eureka Springs and Sharon Stocks of Farmersville, La.; one stepson, Shannon Burton of Clarksville; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robbie Jackson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Mt. Vernon cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Edwards, Dan Hudson, Michael Leeds, Mark Pratt, Wayne Pratt, Lavon Owen and John Wise.
Loy George Park
Loy George Park, 80, of Clarksville died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at his home.
He was a son of the late Charles and Sarah Inez Horner Park, car dealer, pilot, Navy veteran, attended the Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by one sister, Della Harvey.
Survivors include his wife, Verladean (Bert) Williams Park; two daughters, Sandra Cline and husband, Jackie, and Lisa Martin and husband, Jerry, all of Clarksville; one son, Barry Park and wife, Debbie, of Clarksville; four grandchildren, John Jason Cline and wife, Jennifer, of Fayetteville, Scott Cline of Clarksville, Brian Park and wife, Tammy, of Clarksville, and Misty Kyles and husband, Josh, of Bentonville; and three great-grandchildren, Josh Alston of Hartman, Hailey Park of Clarksville and Parker Kyles of Bentonville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
Active pallbearers were John Jason Cline, Scott Cline, Brian Park, Josh Kyles, Jim Harvey, and Ray Young.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Patterson, Lonnie Wilson, Roy Shook, Bill Bush, and Geary Roberts.
Ola Faye Sisk
Ola Faye Sisk, 84, of Lamar died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late John W. and Hattie Adeline Carlisle Roberts, widow of William Marion Sisk, nurse, and preceded in death by three sisters, Marie McAnally, Mabel Ashlock, and Neita Jo Isenhart; and two brothers, Jasper Dewey (Bus) Roberts and Ragan Roberts.
Survivors include three daughters, Geneva S. Palmer, Mary Jo Clark and Pat G. Holman, all of Lamar; two sisters, Gussie Phillips and Jonnie Teltow, both of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Ashlock and Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ronnie Holman, Jerry Holman, Tim Holman, William Holman, Ian Clark, James Clark, and Daniel Clark.
Honorary pallbearers were Pamela Palmer, Diana Greenhill, Linda Holman, Marion Johnson and great-grandchildren.
Norval E. Jones
Norval E. Jones, age 88, of North Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007. Mr. Jones was born in Coal Hill, Arkansas to the late Oscar M. and Lora Brooks Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gwendella (Gwen) Jones, a special niece, Cheryl Stephens, and numerous relatives and friends. Mr. Jones was a member of the Coal Hill Church of Christ.
Mr. Jones is a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He entered the Army as a draftee in 1941 and was released as a Major in 1946, having served in the European Theater with the 62nd A.I.B. 14th ARMD. Div. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, two Bronze Stars, and various engagement medals. He was recalled to active duty in 1950 spending two years with duty in Korea with the 2nd Inf. Div. Upon returning to civilian status, Mr. Jones joined the Prudential Insurance Co. of America earning the designation "Chartered Life Underwriter" and retiring in 1982 with title of "Agent Emeritus."
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 5, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 9:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2007, at Roller Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116 (501-791-7400), with Reverend Luke Flesher officiating. Irene Vaughn
Irene Vaughn, 75, of Clarksville died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.
She was a native of Lawrence, Kan., widow of Richard Vaughn, and member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Mable Riley of Clarksville and Mary Helen Witherspoon of Fayetteville, N. C.; one son, Tommy Vaughn of Clarksville; one brother, Walter E. Reed of Lawrence, Kan.; one half-sister, Carol Harris of Lawrence, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with burial in Oakland cemetery.
Charles Glass
Charles (Charlie) Glass, 49, of Hackett died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at his home.
He was a crane operator for Whirlpool, member of The Apostolic Church in Action of Waldron, and preceded in death by one son, Thomas Ray Glass.
He is survived by three sons, B. J. Glass and Steven Glass, both of Hackett, and Tyler Glass of Van Buren; mother, Betty Kepesky of Hackett; father and stepmother, Bill and Dorothy Glass of Fort Smith; three brothers, Mike Glass of Bath, N. Y., Ray Glass of Hackett, and Bobby Glass of Fort Smith; two stepbrothers, Paul Neu of Roland, Okla., and Clay Neu of Hackett; and one grandchild, Kadence Glass of Hackett.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial to follow at 2 p.m. at Oark cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ray, Bobby, and Mike Glass, Paul Neu, Phil Colton, Roger Wheless and Steve Harden.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Campbell, Jerry Fiser and Gregg Stepp.
