Annie Lee Vaughn
Annie Lee Vaughn, 91, of Ozark, formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Ozark Nursing Home.
A native of Blackton, she was a daughter of the late George Earl and Florence Lillie Edwards Kirby, graduate of Blackton High School, widow of J. E. (Buck) Vaughn, member of West Park Baptist Church at Ozark, and was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Vaughn.
She is survived by three sons, Charles Brown of Forrest City, Mickey Vaughn of Ashdown, and Troy Vaughn of Ozark; one brother, Earl Kirby of Blackton; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Blackton cemetery with Rev. Kirby Vaughn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Jack K. Howard
Jack K. Howard, 80, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at his home.
He was a native of Texas, graduate of Jasper (Texas) High School, Navy veteran of World War II and Korean War, retired employee of Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas, Baptist, member of Pittsburg Masonic Lodge No. 362 at Lamar, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Grey Howard, and one daughter, Karen Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Rye Holman Howard; one daughter, Glenda Romo of Garland, Texas; three sons, John Howard of Garland, Texas, Steve Howard of Mesquite, Texas, and Mike Howard of Little Rock; one stepson, Rick Holman of Hunt; one stepdaughter, Lynn Harris of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Coal Hill cemetery with Jerry Holt officiating. Masonic graveside services were conducted by Coal Hill Lodge No. 383. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Jacob Clayborn
Jacob Clayborn, 25, of Russellville died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at UAMS in Little Rock.
He was a native of Clarksville, employee of Dalton King Packaging Inc. and was preceded in death by his grandfather, Squire Clayborn, and grandmother, Letta Holt.
Survivors include his wife, Savanna Clayborn; one daughter, Kaleigh Clayborn of Russellville; parents, Danny and Kathy Clayborn of Lamar; grandparents, Virginia and Bob Metzger of Knoxville; grandfather, Leon Holt of Lamar; three sisters, Kristy Reed of Chatsworth, Calif., Bridget Villerreal of Lamar, and Leta Gail Clayborn of Clarksville; mother-in-law, Eulanda Brown and husband, Mark, of London; and father-in-law, Gary Hiland and wife, Trish, of Irvington, Ky.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Phelps officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jody Pridmore, Gary Hiland Jr., Michael Bailey, Randy Eldridge, Terry Thomas, Brian Flud, Donnie Ford, and Mark Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were Rick Fox, Roy Clayborn, David Villarreal, Randy Holt, Mike Holt, Jackie Clayborn, Charles Napier, and Stevie Clayborn.
Joe F. Hill
Joe F. Hill, 72, of Clarksville died Wednesday, March 28, 2007.
He was born in Turner to Bryan and Edith Hill, attended Marvel schools, was a former resident of West Memphis, employee of Cincinnati Systems in Memphis, Tenn., 25-plus years, and was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Hill; one son, Joe F. Hill Jr.; and one brother, Boyd Hill.
Survivors include his children, Mike and Jeanie Hill of Fayetteville, Pam Crafton of Memphis, Tenn., Linda and Joe Baratti of Crawfordsville, Carolyn Langston of Horn Lake, Miss., and Jamelle Green of Parkin; siblings, Joyce Garland of Memphis, Tenn., Max Hill of Clarksville, Kenneth Hill of Heber Springs, and Marie Lumpkin of Paragould; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Crittenden Memorial cemetery in Marion under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Homes of West Memphis.
Mabel R. Ashlock
Mabel Roberts Ashlock, 86, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Clarksville, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in Garland, Texas.
She was a daughter of the late John Wiley (Doc) and Hettie Carlisle Roberts, widow of Waymon Ashlock, past worthy matron of Clarksville Chapter No. 172 Order of the Eastern Star, member of Center Point Landmark Missionary Baptist Church near Hartman for 52 years where she taught Sunday school, Bible school and was a former treasurer, former employee of White's Drug Store, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Jacobs; one daughter-in-law, Linda Day Ashlock; two brothers, Heartsille Roberts and Jasper Dewey Roberts; and two sisters, Neita Isenhart and Marie McAnally.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Ashlock and fiancee, Jean Gurley, and Don Ashlock and wife, Phyllis, of Garland, Texas; one son-in-law, Gary Jacobs of Hartman; three sisters, Faye Sisk, Gussie Phillips and Jonnie Teltow of Clarksville; one sister-in-law, Roberta Roberts of Clarksville; six grandchildren, Kenna Cole and husband, Kyle, Rhonda Rountree and husband, Brad, and Sharon Tilton and husband, Byron, all of Texas, Melody Taylor and husband, Philip, of Clarksville, Gary Allen Jacobs and wife, Rhonda, of Dover, and Michael Ashlock and wife, Leslie, of Texas; and 13 great-grandchildren, Blair Tilton, Tegan Taylor, Bethany Taylor, Garrett Cole, Graham Cole, Timothy Rountree, Blake Tilton, Wayatt Ashlock, Ryder Ashlock, Ethan Jacobs, Eli Jacobs, and Phillip Taylor III.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, at the First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Ken Ashlock, Rev. Vernon Bass, and Rev. Patrick Trusty officiating.
Burial will be in Lone Pine cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Gary Allen Jacobs, Philip Taylor, Michael Ashlock, Blake Tilton, Timothy Rountree, Graham Cole, and Garrett Cole.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Robert Coleman Wise
Robert Coleman Wise, of Clarksville, Arkansas, was born August 14, 1938, at home in Peak's Mill, near Frankfort, Kentucky. He died January 18, 2008, in Little Rock, Arkansas, after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Growing up in rural Kentucky, he graduated midterm 1957 from Peak's Mill High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force.
Soon after enlistment, he served with the Air Force Drill Team in Washington, D.C., escorting Senator and Mrs. Estes Kefauver at the Inauguration festivities for President Dwight D. Eisenhower, as well as honoring fallen heroes in funerals at Arlington National cemetery. He later cross-trained into Aircraft Fuel Systems and Mechanics, serving in Ohio, Florida, Alaska, Oklahoma and Arkansas. His overseas assignments included Greenland, Nova Scotia, and, during the Vietnam era, Thailand, the Philippine Islands, and Japan. He earned the Air Force Commendation medal and Oak Leaf Clusters. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1977, serving 21 years, 6 mo, and 21 days.
He "retired" to Johnson County, Arkansas, raising registered Beefmaster cattle at Ludwig, chickens at Harmony, repeatedly earning Top Producer honors for his efforts. He owned Good Guys Auto Parts, was parts and station manager for Lazy Earl's Truck Plaza, and owned & operated Film Transit/Beaver Express delivery, serving Conway, Pope, Yell, Johnson and Franklin counties. His favorite retirement occupation was driving the school bus in town and rural areas, often covering 72 miles a day on his routes. He greatly enjoyed kick-starting the day with his school kids, his friends, and fellow school bus drivers, often stating "if there was no rumor going, we could start one." He drove a school bus on various routes for 28 years for the Clarksville School District, retiring several times to farm, but finally, reluctantly and permanently, retiring in May 2007.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Josie and Harry James Wise; sister, Anna Mae Martin; grandparents, Lucy and Neal Taylor and Lizzie and Graham Wise, all of Peak's Mill, Kentucky; and infant son, Francis James Wise.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Franlee Jo Hamilton Wise, of Clarksville; his children, Robert Graham Wise, Sr. and wife, Nicki, of Statesville, North Carolina; Robin Lee Milligan and husband, Patrick, of Mountain Home, Idaho; and David Neal Wise and wife, Catherine, of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; grandchildren, Ashly Druew and Robert Graham (Gray) Wise, Jr. of Salisbury, North Carolina; and Allison Aron and Ida Lee Lewallen, of Mountain Home, Idaho; father-in-law, Francis Hamilton of Clarksville; brothers-in-law, Bill Martin, of Frankfort, Kentucky, and David Hamilton of Sale Creek, Tennessee; nephew, Steven Martin, and nieces, Becky Gill and Lois Roberts of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Jamie Hamilton and husband, Will Perry, of Sale Creek, Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Talley, Jon Talley, Scott Talley, Doug Hunter, Danny Nichols, Ronnie Zachary, Mike Hanshew, and Don Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bus Drivers for Clarksville Schools.
Bob Wise will be most remembered for his strong, independent, hard-working spirit, and unabashed honesty. He leaves a legacy of family and friends, tied together by more than DNA. He also leaves four generations of Johnson County children, whom he safely and caringly transported to adulthood.
The Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at 10 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 406 Brown Street in Clarksville, Arkansas. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, January 22, 2008, 6-8 pm at Hardwicke Funeral Home in Clarksville, Arkansas. Interment with full military honors at Harmony cemetery on Lone Pine Road, Clarksville, Arkansas.

Ramona Lucille Worley
Ramona Lucille Worley died suddenly in her home January 18, 2008. Known affectionately as Ray by her family and close friends, she was born on March 20, 1926, to Martha Mabel Holman Daniel and Jess D. Daniel in Lamar, Arkansas. When she was a young girl, the family moved to the area around Sikeston, Missouri, and she grew up there. There she met Manlief Clyde Worley and they were married
October 14, 1953. She had two daughters, Katherine Worley Crockett who lives in Hallsville, Missouri, and Debra Worley Mitchell from Columbia. Also surviving is one sister, Nadine Turner.
She retired from the Wal-Mart Corporation after having worked at a Columbia store for more than 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and many other hand arts. She will be remembered as a supportive and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with a memorial service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the Holman Church in Lamar, Arkansas, with burial following in Holman cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Friday, January 25, from 5-7 p.m. at Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville, Arkansas. Memorial contributions may be made in Ramona's name to the Holman cemetery Association. Local arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
Brenda Stumbaugh
Brenda Sue Stumbaugh, 56, of Clarksville died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Amos Owen Stumbaugh and was a member of Clarksville First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her mother, Maxie Clark Stumbaugh of Clarksville; one sister, Wanda, and husband, Carl Williams of Clarksville; one niece, Sharla, and husband, Eden Norris III of Clarksville; one great-nephew, Trey Carl Norris of Clarksville; uncle, J. T. and wife, Marvalene Clark of Chouteau, Okla.; and several cousins.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Clarksville First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Terry Cameron officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Ron Wylie, Levi Willis, Edd Young, Jerry Leavell, Tommy Thomas, and Wes Kendrick.
