Opal A. Tolbert
Opal Ann Barnes Tolbert, 89, of Clarksville died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Swain in Newton County, daughter of the late John L. and Fannie Edgmon Barnes, widow of Watts Tolbert, member of the First United Methodist Church and worked in the church's Mustard Seed Shop for 20 years, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Tolbert.
Survivors include one daughter, Maris Jean Fletcher of Beebe; one son, Phillip Tolbert and wife, Glenda, of Muskogee, Okla.; two brothers, Thurman Barnes of Sand Springs, Okla., and Charlie Barnes of Lebanon, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kenneth Fletcher of Richland, Wash., Mark Fletcher and wife, Liz, of Houston, Texas, and Steven Tolbert and wife, Michelle, of Muskogee, Okla.; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Steve Brad Gomez
Steven Brad Gomez, 28, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at his home.
He was elected student body president at Arkansas Tech University Ozark campus, graduated top in class for heating and air, graduate of Bakersfield (California) High School, served in the Army National Guard four years and was in the heating and air construction business.
Survivors include one son, Steven Vance Gomez of Clarksville; step-son, Zachary Leos; mother, Terri Burnett of Clarksville; father, Steven Gomez of Ohio; step-son, Zachary Leos; one sister, Alex Gomez of Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, Justin Claye Beck and wife, Shauna, of Lamar; companion, Sarah Sanders of Lamar; nieces, Cayla and Sydney Beck, Marina, Maranda and Kaylee; grandparents, Tom and Francine Burnett of Coal Hill; aunt, Starlett Burnett of Clarksville; and cousins.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bridges officiating.
Burial will be in Coal Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Adams, Boone Conquest, Aaron Sanders, Larry Riley, Andy Butler and Christopher Wood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Claye Beck, Tonya Henson and Tyrone Willis.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Roller-Cox.
Doris Flaherty
Doris Irene Hatcher Flaherty, 76, of Ozark died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, in a Fort Smith hospital.
A native of Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Brit and Johnnie Bell Hickey Hatcher, widow of Lewis Edward Flaherty, and was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Edward Flaherty; and one granddaughter, Dakota Lynn Contant.
She is survived by 11 daughters, Brenda Phillips and Mary Moore, both of Clarksville, Gloria Bartsch of Subiaco, Linda O'Kuly of Las Vegas, Nev., JoAnn McMasters of Blue Mountain, Kathy Jackson and Doris Calhoun, both of Ozark, and Angela Predmoore, Molly Brixey, Otta Ruston and Polly Dickson, all of Alexander; five sons, Thomas Flaherty of Scranton, Jackie Flaherty of Altus, Stephen Flaherty of Corning, Lewis Flaherty of Lamar and Truman Flaherty of Coal Hill; 40 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Rickey Jackson officiating. Burial was in Pee Vee House cemetery in Van Buren.
Active pallbearers were David Davison, Travis Pelts, Doyle Bowman, Zack Contant, Scott Escalante and Stewart Watson.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jeremy David Abner
Jeremy David Abner, 27, of Fort Smith died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, in Poteau, Okla.
He was a native of Fort Smith and an employee of Fianna Hills Country Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Lexus Abner of Fort Smith; father and stepmother, Mike and Cheryl Abner of Clarksville; paternal grandmother, Patricia Abner of Fort Smith; one brother, Carl Abner of Fort Smith; one stepsister, Shawn Morales of San Antonio, Texas; one uncle, Mark Abner of Battlesfield, Mo.; and one aunt, Tracy McDonald of Fort Smith.
Graveside services and burial were at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
Joe A. Martin Jr.
Joe Arthur Martin Jr., 55, of Duncan, Okla., formerly of Clarksville, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at Medical Lodge of Butler, Mo.
A native of Henryetta, Okla., he was a son of the late Joe Arthur Martin Sr., graduate of Henryetta (Oklahoma) High School, retired disabled Army veteran, Baptist, lifetime member and officer of Amvets of America, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Mae Martin.
Survivors include his mother, Kathryn Handley Martin of Clarksville; four sisters, Linda Pratt of Orlando, Fla., Sharon Curry of Ozone, Mary Einert of Clarksville, and Rebecca Holt of Lamar; four brothers, Geary Martin of Ft. Scott, Kan., Arthur Martin of Oklahoma City, Okla., David Martin of Okemah, Okla., and Danny Martin of Clarksville; and one aunt, Carolyn Handley of Knoxville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robbie Jackson officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.

Lillian F. Boen
Lillian Freeman Boen, 95, of Lamar died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007.
She was a native of Cowell, daughter of the late Milton (Boss) and Mattie Ogden Freeman, widow of Floyd Boen, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Erie Johnson and Julie Lowery; and seven brothers, Earnest Freeman, Paul Freeman, Stanley Freeman, A. G. Freeman, Troy Freeman, Lewis Freeman, and Donald Freeman.
She is survived by one son, Dennis Boen and wife, Sue, of Lamar; one sister, Eudola Bradley of Richmond, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Rosetta cemetery near Salus.

Matt Taylor
Matt Taylor, 25, of Russellville died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
He was a native of Harrison, 2000 graduate of Dover High School, employee of ConAgra Foods, and was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Raymond Taylor; and maternal grandmother, Crystal Eudola Carney.
Survivors include his parents, Ronnie and Sandra Carney Taylor of Russellville; one brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Sonyia Taylor of Clarksville; paternal grandmother, Vivan Taylor of Nail; maternal grandparents, Virl and Betty Carney of Nail; uncle, Stan Taylor of Lurton; five aunts, Linda Bond of Springdale, Kathy Standridge and Carolyn Burdine, both of Scottsville, Verla Clark of Clarksville, and Brenda Schaefer of Hindsville; two nephews, Brady and Dylan Taylor, both of Clarksville; and one niece, Shaelyn Taylor of Clarksville.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Scottsville Assembly of God Church with Rev. Bobby Young officiating.
Burial will be in Hickory Grove cemetery at Nail under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
