Jeff Palmer
Jeff Palmer, 78, of Mulberry, brother of Vonnie White of Clarksville, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007.
He was a native of Batesville, former resident of Guy, retired employee of the maintenance department of the Guy-Perkins School District and was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Palmer.
Survivors include one son, John Palmer of Mulberry; two daughters, Nancy McDowell of Hackett and Andrea Hoffman of Greenwood; one other sister, Ader Watkins of Judsonia; one brother, Ralph Palmer of Cave City; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier with burial at Copperas Springs cemetery.
Pallbearers were Travis McDowell, Jason McDowell, Shay Palmer, Jody Sampley, Jason Sampley, and Joshua Sampley.
Lorain Sylvia Phillips
Lorain Sylvia Phillips, 95, of Lamar died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late James Henry and Rosa Reedy Atkinson, widow of Everette Coleman Phillips, Baptist, retired real estate broker, and was preceded in death by one sister, Carmon Mary Moore.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Emogene Bradshaw of Fontana, Calif., and Leota Parker and Evelyn Harvey, both of Coal Hill; ten stepgranchildren; and a number of step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with David Parker, grandson, officiating. Burial will be in West Mount Zion cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rip Teal, Mike Mee, Norman Fortney, and Ronnie Ashlock.
Rosemary D. Brown
Rosemary D. Brown, 60, of London died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Saint Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
She was a native of Tallulah, La., daughter of the late Eugene Coleman and Hilly Ernestine Blair DeCamp, seamstress for Bobbie Brooks Clothing in Helena for 15-plus years, member of the Order of Eastern Star, Second Baptist Church in West Helena and Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Russellville, supporter of the DAV, and was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband of approximately 40 years, Ivan Brown; one son, Lance Edward Brown of Booneville; one brother, William Chapman DeCamp of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Norma Jean Hawkins of Russellville and Lavenia Gregory of Jonesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Carl Faulkner of Hardy officiating followed by cremation.
Honorary pallbearers were James Robert Brown II, Sid Hawkins, Clinton Hawkins, Bradley Ralph, David Ralph Jr., Hollie Gregory and Stacey Ford.

Vera Louise Rayon
Vera Louise Rayon, 80, of Clarksville died Monday, May 28, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of La Porte, Texas, she was a daughter of the late David Lee and Bessie Shirley Roberson, widow of David Rayon Sr., longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas, volunteer at Liberty Convalescent Home in Liberty, Texas, several years, and was preceded in death by one brother, Lee Roberson Jr.
She is survived by one son, David Rayon Jr. of Clarksville; two sisters, Ruby Fay Kimbell of Lufkin, Texas, and Johnie Mae Kelly of Houston, Texas; one grandchild, Adam Walter of Western Grove; and one great-grandchild, Keianna Walter of Western Grove.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at the Harmony cemetery with Rev. Lester Chism officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Woodrow Rogers
Woodrow (Woody) Rogers, 89, of Clarksville died Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at his home.
He was a native of Hartman, son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Linnie Ballentine Rogers, Army veteran of World War II and recipient of the Purple Heart Medal after being wounded in action on Aug. 11, 1944, near Lyon, France. He was a member of Bunch-Walton Post No. 22 of the American Legion and the Fernwood Assembly of God Church at Goose Camp. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Freeman Rogers, Estle Rogers and J. D. Rogers; one sister, Ruby Rogers; and one nephew, Buddy Rogers, who was his caregiver for 50-plus years.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Bussey of Knoxville; one grandson, Jared Looper; several nieces and nephews including Lynell Rogers Russell of Hartman and George Rogers of Clarksville; three great-nephews, Robert, Jack and Jim Rogers of Clarksville; and one great-niece, Connie Rogers Lee of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eddie Birdsong and Wesley Kendrick officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
Military graveside honors were by VFW Honor Guard No. 2257.
Active pallbearers were Wesley Kendrick, Eddie King, Kyn Wilson, Dale Meek, Don Dougan, and Kent Cecil.

Bobby Lee Melton
Bobby Lee Melton, 72, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at his home.
He was a native of Odessa, Texas, retired pipe line employee, son of the late Robert L. and Annie Martin Melton, and was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Lorene Melton; and three brothers, Jake Dennis, Carl Dennis, and Acey Dennis.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Holt Melton; five daughters, Jackie Coulter and husband, Larry, Bonita Long and husband, Mark, and Laquita Hogue and husband, Raymond, all of Lamar, Debbie Shay and husband, Wesley, of Knoxville, and Pam Blasczyk and husband, Steve, of Russellville; five sons, Bobby Neal Melton of Austin, Texas, Earnest and Brady Duff, both of Clarksville, Gary Duff and wife, Michelle, of Subiaco, and Dan Duff of Lamar; one brother, Earl Dennis of Orlando, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Erwin and Rev. Eddie Birdsong officiating. Burial was in Knoxville cemetery.

Ernest C. Graves
Ernest Christopher Graves, 93, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, in Broken Arrow, Okla.
He was a native of the Ludwig area, son of the late Daniel Franklin and Mary Ann Darnell Graves, and member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and First United Methodist Church, all in Tulsa, Okla. He was a retired lumber mill employee in Clarksville, riverter, electrician, crane carrier, and mechanic, and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Glynn Overbey Graves, and one daughter, Glenda Christine Graves.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Bridges and husband, David; one grandson, David Christopher Bridges and wife, Jennifer Lynne; one granddaughter, Jolyn Murrin and husband, Jeff; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary Joseph Hyatt, Tyler James Duncan, Cecily Josephine Murrin, and Samantha Pearl Bridges.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Church of the Shepherd United Methodist Church followed by burial at 3 p.m. at Lamar cemetery under the direction of Moore's Eastlawn Chapel.
Floyd J. Hignite
Floyd James Hignite, 86, of Clarksville died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville.
He was a son of the late John Thomas and Janie Ritchie Hignite, retired iron worker, in 1936 was the first to establish a mail route from Ozone to Oark, service member of C. C. C. of Locke Hollow at Ozone in 1938, World War II Army veteran, member of Iron Worker Local 75 of Phoenix, Ariz., for 55 years and a member of the Clarksville Airport Commission. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Hignite.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Marie Burlage Hignite; three daughters, Judy Marie Hignite of Fayetteville, Joan Frances Hignite Guinn of Sanford, Fla., and Marlene Juanita Bennett of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; two sons, Sonny John Hignite of Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Okla., and Jerry Floyd Hignite of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Amy Lois Hignite of Hartman and Bessie Langdon of Ozone; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Oakland cemetery with Father William Wewers officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
