Miss Ethel Manges

Miss Ethel Mae Manges, 87, of Hartman died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at her home.
She was a native of Branch, daugh-
ter of the late William Leslie and Nancy Ann Turner Manges, a Methodist, retired seamstress of Quick Service Laundry and Cleaners, and former employee of Thompson Mercantile Store in Hartman for many years.
She is survived by seven nieces, Billie Jo Doke of Tulsa, Okla., Ann Hale of Vilonia, Mary Carter of McCrory, Gloretta Neddo of South Bend, Ind., Leola Stallings of Augusta, Jan Padgett of Mishawaka, Ind., and Charlene Neighbors of Imboden; and one nephew, George Stallings of Augusta.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Rink officiating. Burial was in West Mount Zion cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Young, Matthew Mooney, Bryan Jones, Robert Bartlett, Matt Hurst, Jimmy Edwards, Nathan Downen, and Frank Chavarria.

Mrs. Edra (Effie) Pledger

Mrs. Edra (Effie) Steele Pledger, 89, of Coal Hill died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Ozark Nursing Home in Ozark.
She was a member of the Coal Hill Assembly of God Church, daughter of the late Marshall and Ephamie Phillips Tipton, and widow of Hughie B. Pledger.
She is survived by three daughters, Georgia Riley and Regina Johnson, both of Hartman, and Wanda Kramer of Altus; three sons, Billy Steele of Hartman, Bobby Steele of Coal Hill, and Douglas Steele of Raytown, Mo.; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. John Kindrix officiating. Burial was in the Kendall cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Martin, Jerry Estep, Steve Estep, Tommy Pledger, Tommy Dorney, and James Dorney.

Mrs. Grace I. Goodin

Mrs. Grace I. Goodin, 87, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of the Minnow Creek Community, daughter of the late Charlie and Floy Ragsdale Landthrip, and a member of the Clarksville Church of Christ and the Johnson County Senior Democrats.
She is survived by several cousins.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with John Ballard officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Betnar, Ronnie Betnar, Alfred Landthrip, Mack Landthrip, Duane Steele, and Flynn Kinman.

Okey Arley Cottrell

Okey Arley Cottrell, 63, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at his home.
He was a 25-year railroad employee and son of the late Alfred and Jane Cottrell.
He is survived by two daughters, Virginia Morland and Brenda Hart, both of Clarksville; one son, Albert Cottrell of Fairport, Ohio; one sister, Vada Heinerman of West Virginia; one brother, Charles Cottrell of West Virginia; and six grandchildren.
Funeral was at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Sally Ladd officiating.
The body was cremated.

Oden C. King

Oden C. King, 84, of Clarksville died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, in Heritage Inn Retirement Center in Clarksville.
A native of the Harmony Community, he was a son of the late Dr. Reuben and Jessie Ogden King, a member and elder in the Harmony Presbyterian Church for several years, past president of the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Navy veteran having served on the aircraft carrier Lexington prior to World War II, an accomplished musician having entertained at nursing and retirement homes, and was active in numerous community projects including establishing the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department and obtaining public water service for that area.
He was preceded in death by one son, Edward; one sister, Mabel Laster; and three brothers, Paul King, Abe King, and Noel King.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Fern King; one daughter, Barbara McHenry of Florida; one son, Barney King of Maryland; one brother, Arch King of Fort Smith; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at the Harmony Presbyterian Church with Burley King and Rev. Bill Woodard officiating.
Burial was in the Harmony cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Gerald Laster, Abe Laster Jr., David Laster, Raymond Wyers, Ken Nelson, and Richard Stephens.
Memorials may be made to the Harmony Presbyterian Church, % Mrs. Abe Laster Jr., Route 3, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Mrs. Violet Parker

Mrs. Violet Parker, 76, of London died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at University of Arkansas Medical Sciences at Little Rock.
She was a daughter of the late Reece and Sophorona Martin Burdine, member of the Flat Rock Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Samuel Thomas Miller.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Bill Parker; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Fred and Cathy Parker and Ricky L. Parker, all of London; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Billie and Kenneth Hatchett of Clarksville, Barbara and Thomas Miller of Dardanelle, Elizebeth and Marshall Frankel of Tarzana, Calif., and Treva Kaye Gray of London; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Flat Rock Assembly of God Church with Rev. Don Nordin, assisted by Rev. Ronnie Birge and Rev. William Phelps, officiating.
Burial was in the East Point cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers were Paul Ray Parker, Arval Lee Parker, Earl Sanderson, Don Whorton, Mike Killough, and Stan Cowell.
Honorary pallbearers were Trenton Bates, Leanord Hardgraves, Harold Parker, Walter Hada, Claude Parker, Gerald Warren, Edward Evans, and Glen Parker.

Hazel B. Holland

Hazel Beatrice Holland, 70, of Clarksville died April 5, 2002, at Sparks Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Theodore George and Alice Beatrice Ellsworth Griffith, widow of Ottis Holland, member of Mt. Vernon Church, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Pauletta Holland.
Survivors are four sons, Clinton Holland, Troy Holland, George Holland, and Timothy Holland, all of Clarksville; two sisters, Elva Mae Edgell of Clarksville and Susie Esther Edgell of Oklahoma; one brother, Robert Lee Griffith; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Holland officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon cemetery.
Pallbearers were Benjiman Holland, Michael Holland, Ryan Goines, Marcus Brown, Troy Wayne Holland, Kyle Holland, Rodney Holland, Stephen Holland, and Toney Cosolo.
