Elsie Ford Sparks

Elsie Ford Sparks, 92, of Clarksville died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was born at Oktaha, Okla., daughter of the late Abraham J. and Jennie C. Fowler Ford, widow of Dice Sparks, and member of Hays Chapel Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Sherman and Sarah Sparks of Benton; three sisters, Norida Brooks of Washington, Edith Ford of Clarksville, and Effie Johnson of California; one brother, Kenneth Ford of Washington; two grandchildren, Bradley Sparks of Conway and John Sparks of Sherwood; two great-grandchildren; one step grandson, Mike Seymore of Benton; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at Hays Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Rink officiating.
Burial was in Hays Chapel cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Virgil Phillips, Argie Kendall, Jim Reeves, Joe Fowler, Harold Hyden, and Jimmy Oberste.

Francis M. Tipton

Francis M. Tipton, 69, of Angleton, Texas, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, in a Houston (Texas) hospital.
He was a native of Clarksville and son of the late Marshall and Elizabeth Tipton.
Survivors include his widow, Darla Tipton; one son, Martin Dale Tipton of Angleton, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Darion and Johnny Irvine of Angleton, Texas; one grandson, Spencer Irvine of Angleton, Texas; one sister, Shirley Curtis of Stockton, Calif.; and two brothers, James M. Tipton of Stockton, Calif., and Marvin Ray Johnson of Seattle, Wash.
Burial was in Angleton, Texas, on Oct. 22.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jimmie Faye Lewis

Jimmie Faye Lewis, 75, of Clarksville died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Morrilton, she was a daughter of the late James T. and Viola Issac Carey, member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Church Women's Association, former member of the First United Methodist Church choir, charter member of TTT, member of Beta Sigma Phi, member of the Johnson County Peach Board for several years, sang with the Moonlighters Dance Band and entertained at the peach festival and other dances for 40-plus years.
Survivors include her husband, Harold D. Lewis; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Nancy Lewis and Keith and Marian Lewis, all of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Lindsey Lewis and wife, Sarah, of Conway, and Preston Lewis, Aaron Lewis, Andrew Lewis, and Alex Lewis, all of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Jack Phillips, Powell Smith, Bobby Teeter, Lee White, Jim Dickerson, and Bill White.
Honorary pallbearers were Stewart Willey, Bill Park, Flynn Kinman, Jack Cline Sr., Charles Irvin Graves, Woodrow Rogers, and Al Davis Sr.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 535, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Luanne Thompson

Luanne Thompson, 68, of Normal, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, Ill.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late R. L. and Anna A. Ragon Thompson, graduate of the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, attained a master's degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and was a retired physical education teacher at University High School in Normal, Ill., where she also served as tennis coach.
She is survived by two brothers, Ragon Thompson of Ouray, Colo., and Al Thompson of Springdale; and one niece, Anna Beth Thompson of Springdale.
Graveside service and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, Ill., under the direction of Kibler-Smith Memorial Home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the library of University High School in Normal, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Jill Hutchison Scholarship Fund, Illinois State University, 213 Red Bird Arena, Campus Box 2660, Normal, IL 61790-2660 or the University of the Ozarks, 415 North College Avenue, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Pamela Diane Kerr

Pamela Diane Kerr, 45, of McGehee died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
A native of Little Rock, she was a daughter of the late Ray B. and Ruby Lou Little Kerr, and a member of First Baptist Church of McGehee where she was also a member of the B.Y.W. Sunday School class.
Survivors include her stepmother, Laverne Kerr of Hartman; four brothers, Alan Kerr of Coinlake, Miss., and Steve Chrisman, Jody Chrisman, and Mark Chrisman, all of Ozark; and three sisters, Tresia Crawford of Lexa, Linda Hardin of McGehee and Marie Prichard of Marshall, Texas.
Funeral was at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel in McGehee with Dr. Tommy Cunningham officiating. Graveside service and burial followed at 3 p.m. at Hartman cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of McGehee.

Susan R. Roberson

Susan Rebecca Roberson, 24, of Lamar died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at UAMS in Little Rock.
She was an employee of the Johnson County Department of Health, Pentecostal, daughter of the late John Devoe Roberson, granddaughter of the late Beacher Self, and was preceded in death by an uncle, James Self.
Survivors include one daughter, Angelica Rene Rodriquez of the home; one son, Ricardo Devoe Rodriquez of the home; parents, Betty and Joel Poindexter of Sallisaw, Okla.; grandmother, Mary Self of Hartman; and four brothers, Aaron Self of Kansas City, Mo., Tim Roberson of DeSoto, Kan., and Beacher Roberson and James Roberson, both of Lamar.
Graveside service and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Holman cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Shari Elaine Wilson

Shari Elaine Wilson, 58, of Lamar died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001.
She was a native of Wichita, Kan., former resident of Colorado where she owned and operated Wilson's Diner and a kid's game hall, and was involved in her family genealogy. In 1987 she moved to Lamar where she raised AKC Chihuahuas and was a council member of the STEP Organization.
Survivors include her husband, Don F. Wilson; six children, James Perryman of Winslow, Ariz., Eric Perryman of Phoenix, Ariz., William Duis of Rock River, Wyo., Everett Duis of Germany, Steven Duis of Brigham City, Utah, and Robert (Gene) Duis of Lamar; six stepchildren, Dyannia Wardlaw of San Antonio, Texas, Edgar Wilson of Empire, Colo., Joe Wilson of Lamar, Lamesa Daniel of Grapevine, Texas, Donald (Pete) Wilson of Lamar, and Mona Schneider of Floresville, Texas; one brother, Ricky Painter of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Lydia O'Rafter of Phoenix, Ariz.; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

James V. Stewart

James Vernon Stewart, 81, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, in Arlington, Texas.
A native of the Mt. Vernon Community, he was a son of the late James and Dona Stewart, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Allie Willey and Myrtle Kendall of Clarksville, and Hallie Garner of Jacksonville; and one brother, Everett Stewart of Clarksville.
Survivors include his widow, Vera Oberste Stewart; one sister, Lucille Hunt; three stepchildren, Cynthia, Tim and Keith Hardin; one granddaughter, Sacheen Hardin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Moores Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas.
