Henry L. Palmer

Henry L. Palmer, 70, of Puyallup, Wash., a native of Lamar, died April 20, 2004, in Lakewood, Wash.
He was a son of the late David and Mary Palmer of Lamar, served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, was employed for the ASARCO Refinery for 18 1/2 years, and was preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Palmer of Lamar
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Betty Palmer; three children, Sharon Stone, David Palmer and Mary Welch; five grandchildren, Mike, Jim, Stephanie, Kyle and Sara; two great-grandchildren, Sierra and Nikki; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Warren and Hattie Palmer, William and Wanda Palmer, George and Geneva Palmer and David Palmer, all of Lamar; and six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Hannah Lou and Truman Hutchins, Clara and Chester Wilson and Alice Harmon, all of Lamar, Maude and Larry Holman of Clarksville, Mary and James Hale of Hartman and Joyce and Larry Vest of Knoxville.
Funeral was at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, in the Mountain View Funeral Home Garden Chapel with Sam Holden officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Memorial Park in Tacoma, Wash.
Pallbearers were Mike Stone, Jim Stone, Dennis Welch, Bill Root, Jason Blackfield and Paul Schultz.

Ila A. Hardcastle

Ila Ann Hardcastle, 99, of Ozark, formerly of Hartman, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Ozark Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late R. W. and Martha Dee Kuykendall Robertson, widow of John Hardcastle, Baptist, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Wilma Smith; and one son, Thirman Hardcastle.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Marilyn Brewer and Rickey Smith, both of Oregon; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Roller-Cox Chapel with burial in Kendall cemetery.

James E. Langston

James Edwin (Jim Bo) Langston, 65, of Fort Smith died Saturday, May 1, in Fort Smith.
He was a native of Coal Hill, son of the late Homer and Orilla Langston, 1956 graduate of Coal Hill High School, U. S. Navy veteran, Baptist, retired supervisor of Tyson Foods, pressroom foreman at the Southwest Times Record for 27 years, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Schossow.
Survivors include his widow, Delores Langston; one daughter, Landa Dauphinais of Greenwood; one brother, Tony Langston of Fort Smith; five grandchildren, Holly, Emily and Landan Dauphinais, all of Greenwood; James David and April Schossow, both of Fort Smith; one great-grandchild, Caleb Schossow of Fort Smith; and one niece, Carol Langston of Seattle, Wash.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel in Fort Smith.
Burial was at Woodland Memorial Park under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Lois Louise Cox

Lois Louise Cox, 73, of Scranton died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, in Clarksville.
She was a daughter of the late Mark Ray and Lou Venious McElyea Ellis, member of Scranton First Baptist Church where she taught a two and three-year-old Sunday school class for 20 years, member of Gideons International for 19 years, and was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Ellis.
Survivors include her husband, Elmo J. Cox; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Ann and Billy Ray Harrison of Grayson, La., Paula Louise Liles of Scranton, and Cathy Lynn and Elbert W. Pfeiffer of Paris; three sons and daughters-in-law, Spencer Charles and Cathy Sue Cox and Michael Ray and Pamela Ann Cox, all of Scranton, and Julian Eugene and Paula Lynn Cox of Charleston; six sisters, Beatrice Burkett of Scranton, Alline Thompson of Little Rock, Gylnn Tacker of Clinton, Veola Webb of Moreland, Elizabeth Edwards of Cabot, and Barbara Yarbrough of Conway; two brothers, Kenneth Ellis of Hyde Park, Mass., and Charles Ellis of Stuttgart; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Scranton First Baptist Church with burial in Stoney Point cemetery at Scranton. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Active pallbearers were Johnny Tacker, Junior Tacker, Bill Burkett, Hollis Edwards, Calvin Edwards, Shane Pfeiffer, Chuck Ellis, and Stacy Burkett.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Hecker and Greg Ashlock.

Lillian O. Dobbs

Lillian Ollie Cline Dobbs, 95, of Clarksville died Monday, May 3, 2004, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Silas C. and Martha Matilda Poteet Cline, widow of Verdis Ken Dobbs, Baptist, and was preceded in death by one sister, Golden Cline; five brothers, Oral C. Cline, James H. Cline, William E. Cline, Loften Cline, and Pearl J. Cline; and one half-brother, Glen Cline.
She is survived by one daughter, Violet L. Garrett of Clarksville; one son, James E. Dobbs of Clarksville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger and Eddie G. Gross officiating. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Dan Calvin, Paul Williams, Robert Bartlett, Bobby Warren, Verlon Harris and Herman Houston.
Honorary pallbearers will be Justin James, Bobby Cline and Joe Fite.

Lucille Morris

Lucille Morris, 81, of Clarksville died Friday, April 30, 2004, in Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Jamestown, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Essie Ray Patterson Martin, widow of John W. Morris, and a member of East Mount Zion Baptist Church, Coal Hill VFW Post 8532 Ladies Auxiliary, Bunch Walton Post No. 22 of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the DAV Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary and Nelson Sears and Ardith Morris, all of Clarksville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mildred Martin of Clarksville and Anita and David Harris of Russellville; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Pat Martin of Russellville; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, John and Mitzi Sears and John Seidensticker, all of Clarksville; four great-grandchildren, Bayley and Dylan Sears, Ross Dinsmore and Ashley Gordon; two step granddaughters, Rachel Gordon of Chicago, Ill., and Sarah Seidensticker of Pennsylvania; four other sisters-in-law, Betty Ruth Morris, Wilma Hamilton and Gwen Kemper, all of Fort Smith, and Lera Morris of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Mike Eppinette officiating. Burial followed at 1 p.m. at the National cemetery in Fort Smith.
Active pallbearers were Matt Martin, Mike Martin, Paul Martin, David DeSalvo, Jim Morris and David Morris.
Honorary pallbearers were Timothy Martin, Alan Martin and Henry DeSalvo Jr.

Shirley Pat Denton

Shirley Pat Denton, 66, of Coal Hill died Sunday, April 25, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital.
She was a native of Coal Hill, member of Coal Hill First Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star in Coal Hill, daughter of the late Johnnie H. and Eunita Wheeler Denton; and was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Yancey.
Survivors include one daughter, Colleen Garner of Coal Hill; one son, Tim Spiegel of Pepperell, Mass.; one brother, Johnnie Denton of Coal Hill; and six grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 29, at Coal Hill First Baptist Church with Rev. David Qualls officiating.
Burial was in Hess cemetery at Coal Hill under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Active pallbearers were Jamey Bell, Ronnie Bohanan, Gayle Mitchell Jr., Greg Selby, Dale Ludack, and Steven Bean.
Honorary pallbearer was Troy Lee Hess.

Verneil Ward Reed

Verneil Ward Reed, 94, of Earle died Friday, April 23, 2004, at a West Memphis hospital.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late L. A. (Gus) and Irma Hamilton Ward, retired beautician, and was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Ward, and one sister, Martha Marie Ward.
Survivors include her husband, A. L. (Leon) Reed; one nephew, Rickie Ward of Clarksville; one niece, Theresa Douglas of Clarksville; five great-nephews and great-nieces; and two great-great-nieces.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis with burial in Marion.
